    How Much For The Camaro 1LE, ZL1 Convertible?

    Chevrolet has let loose the pricing on the 1LE package for the Camaro SS and Camaro ZL1 convertible.

    We'll start with the 1LE. Earlier this month, Chevrolet said the 1LE package would start under $40k. Well, it appears Chevrolet has kept that. The 1LE package adds $3500 to the base price of the 1SS and 2SS models, meaning the pricetag on a 1SS with the 1LE package begins at $37,035 (includes a $900 destination charge).

    As for the ZL1 convertible, that begins at $60,445 (includes a $900 destination charge). Like the ZL1 coupe, the convertible comes with the same 580 HP, 556 lb-ft of torque, supercharged 6.2L V8 and the Magnetic Ride Control suspension system. The ZL1 convertible also gets chassis bracing components like an underhood strut tower brace, front suspension “X” brace, and rear “V” braces.

    1LE pricing is ok, and the ZL-1 is what it is, what gives me sticker shock these days is the pricing on pickup trucks!

    Just obscene.

    Seems the world could use a total reset of pricing and costs to better go with the actual wages people make.

    Yea, was not thinking politics at the time of my comment just that we seem to need a major reset on a global level to get things back into balance.

    I love many of the new auto's and especially the performance side, but also have to wonder when we have pushed the price outside of the target zone for the masses. I know that we need stepping stones for people to move up, but until they have must have entery level products that a working high school student or college student can really afford, it seems we have lost that ability.

    Part of this is due to all the excessive safety requirements on cars. Yes I would agree that a higher performance Camero should have the side airbags, head bags, roll cage, auto fire extinguisher system, racing cell fuel tank, etc. ;) you get the point I am making that safety should be there, but at various levels based on the type of car.

    If they could have a Mini Camero that is 2 person only, half to 2/3rds the current body weight with a 2.5L turbo motor that can be sold ala cart to teens with a starting price of about 12-14K I think GM would have a hit on their hands.

    A small 2 seater has limited appeal. They will sell out of the gate but to keep them alive they will have to limit sales per year of less than 20,000 units. Even the Miata the most popular in class struggles to make 12,000 units some years.

    Chevy needs a small light 2+2 that is RWD that can use the 2.0 Turbo and get great MPG and still cost under $30K. It needs styling that would appeal to the younger market too as while the Camaro appeals to a older market with money they need to do something that appeals to the kids that can only afford 20K-30K and have no cylinder count hang ups.

    Not sure if they could do anything that cheap on the Alpha but it is worth a thought. A modern Monza would be nice. I would not get all too retro with it but a modern day version of what it was would be something the market could use. This would compete with the new Subaru and Scion.

    If you could load it up with all the options and keep it under 30K I think many would love the combo. You also would have to load it with lot of electronic options or dealer installed options the kids want today.

    As for reset you have to get people to reset their expectations. Years ago people just wanted to own a house and a car. Today it is a McMansion and 3 cars but they still want to shop at WalMart. The MTV cribs mentality has killed the youth of this country as they all want but they do not want to work for it.

    Very true about the I want but do not want to work. The Entitlement crowd is what the kids and college kids are today. I have never understood how a person could think they are owed this from the day they were born, but parents are to blame for spoiling kids to become this way.

    There is a gorgeous dark red w/ black wheels ZL1 on the front row of the local Chevy store...

    Oh man, take a picture if you get the chance. I'd love to see it. Anyway, I think the prices are alright. Camaro is a bit high IMO, but the ZL1 pricing is good for what it is.

    An American sports car for under $40,000 with the looks and power of the Camaro is a bargain. Without starting that topic that belongs in the "political" arena, we should support American brands. If you could drive a car that looks and runs like this why would you consider a bland foreign "economy" brand (you know what I am talking about) that is in the same price range? If you export your dollars don't complain about life here and what people can afford.

    • I am not aware of travel cases for internal drives. Usually you have the drive and once you have made sure you own static electricity is discharged on your body, open the computer and unplug the power cable and data cable to the HD. Then you unscrew the screws holding the drive in. Put the drive into an Anti-Static bag and then usually into a box that has foam padding on all sides to protect the drive and then tape it up to close it.  With both drives in their proper storage bags, you can then have both drives in between foam insulation for handling any dropping of the box, etc. Pack them in a box and tape shut, should then easily handle going through your carry on or checked in luggage. To ship a hard drive, you need to: Secure the hard drive in its original packaging or anti-static bag. If you don't have an anti-static bag, place the drive into a zipped freezer bag to prevent any moisture getting into the drive during transit. Sandwich the drive between foam or wrap it in bubble wrap to absorb any minor shocks. Put the hard drive in a padded shipping box. Close and seal the box. Label your package. Amazon.com : hard drive shipping box This is pretty much all you need.
    • Either a co-pilot first time landing or something truly went wrong on the plane.

    • Thank you for the response. I want to reinstall them into the computers, especially the "newer" one.  The old one has been a real champ.   The reason for not leaving them in the desktop is that the basic tower might have to be transported ... and not by me.  That means it will be out of my possession for a while.  Since the HDs would be traveling with me, they'll have to get scanned through airport security a time or two.  I'm guessing that shouldn't mess with the data.   I've already backed up the C drive on several large 1 TB portable hard drives.  I don't want to touch the basic functions and files on the computers since I don't know how that all works.  I stay away from the drives and files I am not familiar with. I tend to donate other things to charity.   I did give the Regal I once owned to charity.   A good friend told me that, about a month or two later, he saw it being driven around the city by its new owner and we had a good laugh. This is what I want to do.  I'm just trying to figure out if the guy or gal at Office Depot can size a case based on looking up the unit and the HD in it.  Any ideas on that part?  Or should I do that and approximate the size and weight of the part to get the cases?
    • I'm wondering about a lot of things related to this.  I am sure that, sadly, the passengers inside were jolted.  This is way different from a rough landing. Why was it even necessary to do it?  What was going on at the airport property at that time?  How does one even pull this off?  I've seen some vids of where they barely touch and then go off again, but this one looks way more complicated.
