Jaguar Land Rover's SVO Division Could Do Its Own Models

Even though the SVO division is about a year old, the performance arm for Jaguar Land Rover has been making some news with such models as the Jaguar F-Type Project Seven and Range Rover Sport SVR. Now the division is possibly planning doing stand alone models.

“We’re certainly looking at that, and we’ve got the capability to do that. Is there an opportunity for us to do a completely stand-alone car? Maybe,” said John Edwards, head of SVO.

Jaguar's SUV is just around the corner, but the company will not be calling it an SUV.

“A Jaguar SUV is not possible. SUVs and 4x4s are for Land Rover. The Jaguar concept is far more road-orientated. It will need a different kind of name,” said Jaguar Land Rover boss Ralf Speth.

Autocar says the model is being referred as a “sports crossover”, due to the model having a heavy bias towards on-road dynamics. The company is planing to have a better descriptor when the model is launched.

The long wait is almost over as Jaguar finally unveiled the new 2016 XE, its threat to the likes hreat to the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

You can tell the XE is very much a Jaguar in its design. The front end is adorned with the rectangular grille, angled headlights, and long hood that are seen on the XF. The side profile features a sloping roofline and fender vents. The short rear end and wheels pushed to the far corners help give the XE a athletic pose. Jaguar says the XE's body has a drag coefficient of 0.26 cd.
