Porsche Introduces A More Powerful Cayenne Diesel

Just as Porsche is getting ready to begin selling the new Cayenne Diesel here in the states, they announce a more powerful diesel version called the Cayenne S Diesel.

The Cayenne S Diesel uses a turbocharged 4.2L V8 with direct injection that produces 382 HP and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. Porsche says the V8 diesel is their most powerful diesel engine ever. Its easy to see why when the Cayenne S Diesel posts a 0-60 MPH time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 157 MPH.

The diesel V8 also has a stop-start system which helps the Cayenne S Diesel fuel economy of 8.3 liters per 100 km on the European cycle (roughly 28 MPG, albeit not on the EPA cycle).

Will we be seeing this turbo-diesel V8 monster here in the states? Unfortunately no.

For everyone else, Cayenne S Diesel arrives next January.
