6 Sampler

Recommended Posts

I've had several people ask if I was going to do MC trivia again. I wasn't sure since it is a lot of work to coordinate between the various boards, keeping track of the answers and scores, but the fun of it outweighs the "work". Sssooo....in the spirit of former contests (MC Jeopardy!, Knight's Challenge, MC Express) ... this is MC Sampler! Items 1 and 2 are "Jeopardy!" style; Items 3 and 4 are "Wheel Of Fortune" style; Items 5 and 6 are Visual Multiple Choice.

PRIZES:

One reason I wasn't sure about doing a contest again is because I'm not sure what the individual prizes will be. If you have a suggestion, let me know.

In the meantime, I'm considering the "prize" for the winning boards/forums will be free advertisements during my April radio shows...we'll see.

RULES:

This is first and foremost a FRIENDLY competition. Any and all concerns/questions should be directed to me PRIVATELY.

All ANSWERS to the queries MUST be posted IN THIS THREAD.

Do NOT research answers IN ANY WAY ... remember, if you were on a game show, you wouldn't have that chance.

Answer ALL questions ... non answers/no response to an Item WILL be considered an INCORRECT response.

For the "Jeopardy!" Round, all replies MUST be in the form of a question.

For the "Wheel Of Fortune" Round, the letters PRNDS and E, as well as MC, OA are given.

If you are on multiple boards/forums, you may participate in each. However, if you are the individual winner on multiple boards, you will receive only one prize.

POINT VALUES... + correct, - incorrect:

Item 1 = +72, -1

Item 2 = +76, -2

Item 3 = +79, -3

Item 4 = +81, -4

Item 5 = +97, -5

Item 6 = +107, -6

REMEMBER:

ALL answers MUST be posted IN THIS THREAD. If you have sent me Emails or PMs with the responses, PLEASE post your answers in this thread so they can be counted! Last time I had people send me answers privately, I ended up with a few "questions" about the actual scores. So, this way, all of the answers are seen along with the tallies....

Answer ALL questions ... non answers/no response to an Item WILL be considered an INCORRECT response.

For "Jeopardy!" Items/Bonus, all replies MUST be in the form of a question.

For "Wheel Of Fortune" Items/Bonus, the letters PRNDS and E, as well as MC, OA are given.

NAME EXPLANATION:

This version of Monte Carlo trivia is called "6 Sampler" because, originally, each generation was represented with 1 Item....

EXTRAS:

...but, now, I'm adding 3 Bonus Items!

Point Values...

Bonus 7 = +270, -7

Bonus 8 = +600, -8

Bonus 9 = +910, -9

Bonus 7 "Jeopardy!": In 2006, Sheryl Crow's song "Real Gone" was the first heard in this animated hit film, which featured a character named Darrell Cartrip (a 2nd generation Monte Carlo) and highlighted Route 66.

Bonus 8 "Wheel Of Fortune": In November 1975, CW McCall's song "Convoy" debuted. It spent 6 weeks at #1 on the country charts and 1 week at #1 on the pop charts. The song also inspired a movie of the same name, starring Kris Kristofferson. Complete the line from the song.

_ E

_ O N N A

R O _ _

_ _ _ S

_ R _ C _ _ N '

C O N _ O _

A C R O S S

_ _ E

_. S. A.

Bonus 9 Visual Multiple Choice: Choose the statement that BEST describes the wheels seen on this 1976 Monte Carlo:

http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/newpics/DSC07677r8_jpg.html

a ... They were only available on 2nd generation SS models.

b ... They are known as Turbine wheels.

c ... They are after-market wheels, first made in 2006 for the 30th anniversary of the 1976 MC.

Be sure to get YOUR responses POSTED ASAP on ALL of the ITEMS, INCLUDING the BONUS ITEMS (especially those of you who've already posted your responses for the original 6 Items)!

And, I apologize, but I still do not have prizes figured out yet...except, of course, the prizes for the winning boards (as previously noted)....

First and foremost ... to those who ARE participating ... THANK YOU!

It appears prizes coaxed a few more participants ... but, not many. The number of participants is lower than I thought it would be, given the number of comments/requests to do more trivia after previous years' games ... and the various posts/threads that show everyone's knowledge about the Monte Carlo....

So, be that as it may, I apologize to anyone irritated by this thread/the trivia ... the goal was NOT to be a pest, but to do something fun, especially since we are all posting anyway.... That written, to keep the "pest level" to a minimum, I may simply PM/Email the participants the correct answers and notify the prize winners as well in the next few days....

Sorry, but in between getting ready for my radio show in April, work, and other commitments, I haven't had time to total everyone's scores for the next round.

Sssooo...for those who haven't participated yet ... and would like to ... you still have some time to reply to ITEMS 3-6 and BONUS 7-9. If you're hesitant, I can tell you that, of the ones I have scored, some of the -3s came out of the "red" very quickly. So ... even joining late (with a -3 score for the first 2 Items), you still have a chance to win a prize. PLUS ... I know more of you know these trivia answers ... and it won't take you long to post your replies ... may take you quicker than posting to some other threads ;).

Given that 3 of the boards do not have any participants (yet, anyway), I may give prizes to the participants in the top 15 or so of overall total points ... including, of course, those who win their respective board in total points.

And, if you ARE participating, but haven't answered all of ITEMS 3-6 and BONUS 7-9, be sure to at least GUESS ... INCORRECT replies and NO REPLIES are the same (negative points).

POST your responses IN THIS THREAD.

PRIZES:

Individual Winners from each board have several choices and can choose from ANY of the options...

Sorry this has been on the "backburner" for a while, but I'm finally getting time to post correct replies to ITEMS 3 and 4 [sTANDINGS after ITEMS 3 and 4 will be posted NEXT time]....

_COMMENTS ABOUT THE GAME_

GMI's MelvinJ: "Great fun, Cort!"

FGMC's 71454SS: "I feel there is a silent majority that appreciates your knowledge and werewithall to put the game together for entertainment. I just don't know enough to partake...."

MCC's 85t5mcss: "IMHO the prize is the fact that u spend your time creating the trivia for us. Time is a very valuable resource and I for one am glad that u got the sampler on line. Much appreciated"

TriplePlate's StephenM: "See, my thinking was if I didn't submit a response, I'd effectively have a zero. But if I submit a response, I'm likely to have less than zero. And this is coming from a former champion who spent all of last year looking at a Monte Carlo poster. Nevertheless, I boldly submit the following answers for your remorseless red pen ... Here's hoping I finish positive. ... I need to hurry up and finish my homemade 'Bestest TriplePlate Monte Carlo Trivia Champion in The Universe EVER' title belt."

And a couple that aren't quite as flattering...

Posted in a ChevyTalk 'Chit Chat' section thread about the game: "To be honest, the way the questions were worded, it's obvious they didn't use someone who knew how to to write questions ... that was a very amateurish example of trying to do a survey!"

Posted in the game's thread on MyMonte: "I can probably tell you why no one is playing this game ... ITS LAME, I get better kicks from watching birds hit my window...I USE WINDEX!!!"

_PRIZES_
