All Pontiac Show & Go, Old Bridge Raceway Park (NJ)

Sadly, I attended my last car show for the 2009 calendar year. The All Pontiac Show and Go, sponsored by High Performance Pontiac Magazine and held at Old Bridge Raceway Park in Englishtown (Manalapan), NJ, was originally scheduled for the day before father's day (Saturday) back in June but was rained out, so the car show was heldyesterday (10/25). Attached are some of the Pontiac photos I took...

ARRRGGGHHHH! I knew there was something I forgot about this weekend!

I debated on not going, especially since it was about 40 miles away from my home, but the little guy has never been to a race track like Old Bridge, and more importantly how could I pass up on a Pontiac show?

I knew it was rained out, and I wanted to introduce the hobby to my GF.

You going to the Atco Pontiac show on Halloween? I used to hit that one, but it was usually scheduled so late in the season, it is hard to sit on metal bleachers at 40 degrees!

No, Halloween is reserved for the family, and it will be an all-day affair this year since it's on a Saturday. I did see the flyer to the ATCO show Sunday, but when I saw the date I had to rule it out. A shame to, because ATCO isn't far from me here in southern NJ I think.

All that Arrowhead goodness is making me want another for myself.

Nice pictures. The ones that really caught my attention were:

- the 7th picture in the 1st post - the lime colored GTO - I remember really liking the front window (as shown) WITHOUT the side opening air vent. It made it look cleaner. My Dad's base '70 LeMans didn't have the side opening air vent, and it looked better for it

- the 77 Can Am (probably a 403 V8, I assume) ... call me a dolt, but I really liked that body style decked out as the up-market LeMans with the smallest displacement V8 available ... that dashboard in that whole family of cars is unforgettable

- the white G8 ... WOW ... along with the slate blue, this has to be one of the better colors for this car ... I'm assuming it was a V8, and not a standard V6 model?

Thanks for sharing, many of these I would love to own! The '77-78 Trans Am being one of them, or the '77 Can Am, even the '72 Lemans Sport Ragtop with the 350ci. is cool! I also love the G8 GXP! The two red early 60's Catalina's are also beyond cool, and I am liking that '69 Judge!

Yes, the white G8 was a GT model (V8 powered). The G8 V6 and GT models are hard to tell apart unless you look at the rims, the taillight lens cover, and the door handles (GT models are chrome & body color vs. the V6's body-color only <though the upgraded handles are available as a DIO on the V6>). Regardless of the model, I liked the way the white G8 looked, parked as it was, and had to get a shot of it :P

Great pics of many great Pontiacs. No Division was quite as attractive over time as PMD.

The '68 Cat puzzles me- I assume thats a Canadian covered-headlight grille, cause it's not US RPO. Grand Parisienne's had covered lights in '68...

I think someone just grabbed a '68 Grand Prix grill and installed it on a '68 Catalina... I considered doing it to my '68 Cat convertible to get a sort-of phantom '68 Grand Prix convertible.

Would have been really sweet to see a '75 or '76 Grand Ville or Bonneville Brougham, in 2-door convertible or 2-door colonnade coupe form with a landau...and rally wheels...and in perfect condition.

For a big boat, what a good-looking car. Too much to ask for!

Yes, like that one! The rallys seen to work even better with the convertible, but I do recall those turbine-type wheel (covers). I have seen some really interesting color combos on these convertibles, such a white with the burgundy vinyl or leather interior, or the various blues with a white interior and blue trim, with rally wheels. And the coupes of that model were equally interesting.

I've seen a convertible in a bright green w/ white interior and black top. Can't recall the last time I've seen any '74-76 Pontiac full size besides the derelict '75 wagon I see occasionally around town.

Some sweet cars in this thread, though the Mopar hood scoop on the '74 LeMans is a bit naff..

Guess that's right- something about the misaligned cover on the left was making me think it was different.

GP's entire rear clip is different than the Cat in '68, right? GP has a more compact, squat-ter look to it. Nice cars.

I've seen a convertible in a bright green w/ white interior and black top.

If it's the '76 version of the green, it's that metallic lime. Scary stuff, though interesting when the white seats are contrasted with lime carpeting, seat belts and instrument panel. Still, it wouldn't be my choice.

Funny that the white interior would be matched up with a black retractable top. I wonder what the story might be there...

The perfect Grand Ville convertible would be the metallic rust, a white interior with the tan accents, a white top and rally wheels...and, if it makes a difference in mpg, a 400 V8 instead of the 455 V8. Regardless, all of these Pontiac big block V8s run with the indestructible Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission. My choice for the coupe would be exactly the same, except that a tan cloth interior would replace the white interior.

Makes me want to look for one to keep as a hobby car...

GP's entire rear clip is different than the Cat in '68, right? GP has a more compact, squat-ter look to it. Nice cars.

The front clips are the same on the GP and the other fullsizers, so I think just a grill and headlight hardware swap would be needed. Most of the body is the same but the rear sheetmetal looks like an oversized '68-'72 A-body... lending a compact, squat look to it. Plus they all had that bizarre toupee style vinyl roof.

Over the years, I've seen every commonly producted GM car somewhere... I didn't know these existed until I saw it in a book! And yet, GM built 31,711 of them! Since, I've only seen one in person. GM only made 20,000 '74 Rivieras and I've seen them all over.
