Not me. I have no problem laughing at these people.

I had a tenant that I force out back in February. She was a nightmare as a tenant and disgusting as a person. She was permanently on welfare and on Section 8 yet she somehow had the money to buy a relatively new Chrysler Concord. She destroyed that apartment. If you recall me posting pictures of 79 nails that came out of the walls of a single apartment a few months back, that was her.

Fast forward to today. I have a new Section 8 tenant. She couldn't be more pleasant. She's planted flowers in the front yard, mows the grass regularly, keeps the place tidy even with a 10 year old son and STILL finds time to go to school at night on scholarship while working days in a medical non-profit.

I Just. Don't. Buy. It. that people have no choice but to be like that.

True- a lot of it is personal choice / lack of caring.

But I would never automatically equate dress code with intelligence.

In other words, I don't buy the 'the clothes make / unmake the man' as unilateral.

Plus, a bunch of the pics were a 'what's the point of making a point here?'. The torn-out t-shirts; yes. The cuffed shorts, the 'short-shorts', the haircuts; that's just a question of fashion, not slovenly / disgusting. 2 different things- making an attempt to be neat & clean is one thing- not doing what's currently the most popular- who gives a sh!t.

by looking at my high school computer science teacher you'd never guess his financial status. cowboy boots, blue jeans, button up shirt and a blazer or sport coat every day. he smoked a pipe though...(we sometimes wondered what was in it cause he was stoopid laid back all the time) he taught at the high school just to have something to do, cause when he lived out in california, his software company he owned bought him out. looks like a regular joe, talks like one, drives like one (had a freakin sweet cj7 trail jeep). he bought a 2003 rousch stage 2 convertible gt going through his 3rd childhood :lol:

Fact is, one conveys a lot about their personality/character by their (lack of) personal grooming habits and how much they care about their appearance. Many, many, many studies show a link between sloppy appearances and irresponsible life decisions. People who "just don't care" how they look to the world clothing-wise often "just don't care" behavior-wise, and often conduct themselves unnaceptably. Watch a few episodes of Judge Judy for a non-time-consuming anecdotal way of observing this.

Kind of funny...but I'd almost take Wal-Mart and the freaks over "normal" people.

Normal people are like normal cars, they are kind of boring, imho.

Thankfully, no one who posts regularly at Cheers and Gears is anywhere close to what I'd call normal...
