Nov. 2006 Sales: Chrysler Group

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Chrysler Group

reported that unadjusted sales in November 2006 rose 3 percent to 164,556

units, compared to November 2005 sales of 159,898 units. November 2006

sales establish a five-year November record.

"Chrysler Group sales in November were up 3 percent over last year,

marking the best November in five years," said Steven Landry, Vice

President, Sales and Field Operations - Chrysler Group. "Our new product

lineup continues its customer appeal as they arrive at our dealerships and

drive a big part of the sales improvement for the Chrysler Group."

The company has launched nearly all of the 10 new products that were

announced at the beginning of the year, and those products are generating

customer and media praise while driving traffic into Chrysler, Jeep® and

Dodge showrooms.

Sales of the Jeep Wrangler, a direct descendant of the original Jeep

vehicle, rose 95 percent to 8,735 units, setting a new November sales

record. Previous year sales of the Jeep Wrangler totaled 4,482 units. The

Jeep Wrangler has received in excess of 62,000 dealer orders, which exceeds

three- quarters of total Jeep Wrangler sales in calendar year 2005.

The all-new Dodge Nitro, the first mid-sized SUV for the Dodge brand

continues to distinguish itself in the retail marketplace with consumers.

Sales of the Dodge Nitro totaled 5,489 units for November 2006, 80 percent

higher than October 2006 sales of 3,044 units. Customer response to the

Dodge Nitro has been very strong and Dodge dealers nationwide are

responding by placing orders for more than 50,000 units.

Sales of the Chrysler Group's best selling product, the Dodge Ram

Pickup, rose 8 percent in November, posting sales of 27,826 units. Previous

year sales totaled 25,667 units.

Chrysler Group finished the month with 499,036 units of dealer

inventory, or a 76-day supply.

Man, the Stratus is pathetic, topped only by the Crossfire. The 300 aqnd the Magnum are down,, but the Charger is up. Prhaps if they got 5-speeds for their trannies like the Charger it'd help.

This shows the new products are certainly off to a good start, especially the Wrangler, and the Avenger and minivans can't come soon enough.

It's nice to see they sold more, but it was probably due to heavy incentives <_<

Everyone thought Chrysler would have a horrible month. But notice how sales of the Sebring were only about 1300 less than the Fusion, the PT Cruiser outsold the Focus (not a direct competitor I know, but it is the Chrysler division's small car), the Pacifica outsold the Freestyle more than 2 to 1, and the 300 outsold the 500 almost 3 to 1. Also notice how the Commander is doing pretty well, although I think its sales increase is at the expense of the Grand Cherokee.

The Nitro was not Dodge's first mid-size SUV-that was the 1998-2003 Durango. And second of all, Nitro is most definitely a compact SUV, not a mid-size. Take a look at a TrailBlazer and a Nitro side by side and compare cargo room and exterior size-its a very, very clear difference, trust me. Nice truck that I bet will do well though, despite the deluded divisions/PR and narrow rear step-in height. Anyway, looks like Stratus, Dakota, and Magnum sales fell by half-that sucks, though Avenger can't come soon enough-Dodge would be wise to rush it out, and in the future, not leave such giant gaps in their lineups-no compact sedans, no mid-size sedan for over a year, and then the early Intrepid discontinuance in early 2004, only a Magnum for 2005, and no Charger until 2006. Not a smart move, but it was worth it for Charger.

The Chrysler has had to slap BIG discounts on the Commander almost from the start and has been a disappointment to Chrysler from a profit standpoint which is the bottom line. It was intro'ed just as the Mid Size SUV fade ended with a thud & its only selling now becuase Jeep is slapping $8K on the hood in rebates or doing insane lease deals that are going to kill its residual value.
