Not really exciting, but good news, I guess. A much need improvement for GM's entry level car. It needs all the help it can get to combat the Fit. Will this be the first application of the new compact 6-speed developed by Daewoo? That would be exciting.

Well damn. I thought it was going to be smaller than the 6T40. Is the 6T40 and 45 the only transmission GM Daewoo and GM Powertrain are working on together? Is there something smaller coming online at a later date?

hopefully the new engine will nicer...~15% power increase?... hey, even a 5-speed in this segment would be nicer than the 4.

Well, I guess that's smart on GM's part... I mean, it's not like they need any positive PR or attention in L.A. or California in general for that matter.

(Much sarcasm implied)

Maybe GM is taking a page from it's foreign competitors in making sure they only introduce vehicles that are ready for production, rather than introducing them a year early.

With all the hype around the Malibu, introducing a "hot" new vehicle right now might not be the right thing to do.
