2013 Toyota Camry mini rental review

Featured Replies

I was in So Cal the last few days for the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix Indy Car race weekend, so it was only appropriate my rental car was a Camry. Had a white Camry w/ a black & gray two tone cloth interior. Drove about 150 miles around Long Beach and Orange County over the last few days. I had a choice of a Camry or Altima Friday night at Hertz, and I realized I'd never driven one so what the heck...

Impressions: Nothing memorable. The car was perfectly functional, comfortable, smooth, quiet but really didn't leave much of an impression. Big trunk. Power seemed adequate for accelerating up the notoriously short So Cal on-ramps to the various freeways I used. It left so little of an impression I didn't even take a photo.

It must have been a base model, I did notice the left side of the dash had several plugs where switches would be and it had manual seats, surprising to see these days. No nav that I noticed, but it did have a touchscreen for audio functions.

To sum it up: plain vanilla, but just the way American consumers like it.

what did you think of the interior and plastics?

Functional...the plastics seemed ok...had some faux stitching on the dash pad. Cup holders worked ok, decent sized glove box and several cubbyholes. Outward visibility was good.
