MAZDA SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY VEHICLES LEAD THE WAY TO RECORD MONTH


- Best May Sales Since 2008 -


IRVINE, Calif., June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported May U.S. sales of 24,270 vehicles, representing an increase of 19.2 percent versus last year.


Key May sales notes:

  • SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY performed very well in Mazda's best month of May sales since 2008, accounting for 73.6 percent (17,875 vehicles) of total sales (24,270 vehicles) for the month. Vehicles equipped with SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY include certain models of Mazda3, CX-5 and the all-new 2014 Mazda6.

  • Mazda3 sales rebounded nicely after being down last month. Posting a sales gain of 5.4 percent (8,935 vehicles), YOY, Mazda3 continues to be a sales leader.

  • CX-5 had its best month of sales ever with 7,128 vehicles sold accounting for a 79.4 percent increase YOY.

  • The all-new 2014 Mazda6 has continues to gain sales every month since its launch in January. Mazda6 saw its best month of May sales since 2008 with 3,944 vehicles sold representing an increase of 71.9 percent YOY.

  • As summer heats up, the Mazda MX-5 had its best month of sales since April 2012 with 672 vehicles sold.

  • Mazda CX-9 experienced its best month of May sales since 2010 with 1,972 vehicles sold and an increase of 14.4 percent YOY.

Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported May sales of 2,885 vehicles, up 35.0 percent versus May of last year.
