Mercedes-Benz Over stating MPG on A, C & E class auto's.

According to this Bloomberg report, Mercedes-Benz is overstating the MPG on their auto's with MPG exceeding 50% on their new A, C & E class auto's.

This report by Brussels-based Transport & Environment also seems to imply that Mercedes-Benz also has a NOx problem with their own diesel fleet.

Mercedes-Benz is pushing for a universal world wide light vehicle test procedure that would measure tail pipe emissions and MPG / MPK so that a single standard is built for the world wide market that they would like to take place in 2017.

Either Road and Track or Motor Trend did a 400+ mile trip of mixed freeway and back roads with an E250 Bluetec and a Prius.  Both cars got 42 mpg average.  The E250 actually beat the EPA number.

I drove from Pittsburgh to Cleveland last weekend, I got 27.4 mpg round trip and my car is rated at 23 mpg highway, so I was more than pleased.  Actually I was shocked that from my house to where I pulled off I-77, (which is just over 2 hours) I got 29.3 mpg, so no complaints from me about Mercedes gas mileage.

And for years when they had the CDI engines and the 3.0 V6 bluetec, owners often reported better real world highway mileage than the EPA sticker.  Diesels from any car company often beat the EPA number, where as a lot of turbo gas engines do worse.
