    2021 Cadillac Escalade Leaks Out

...Big and brawny like its siblings...

Just a day after the 2021 Suburban and Tahoe debuted the Cadillac Escalade has also leaked out online.  As expected, the side profile still looks like the Tahoe/Suburban, however it apparently does still sport the vertical tail lights of the current generation vehicle.  Inside is a decidedly upgraded interior. The gauge cluster is dual screen and flows into the infotainment system.  Like the Chevy twins, the column shifter is gone, in this case replaced by Cadillac's Precision Control Shift. A dial to control the infotainment system similar to that on the XT6 is visible as well.

    2021 Cadillac Escalade interior.png

The Escalade will be powered by the same 6.2 liter V8 offered as an upgrade in the Suburban and Tahoe, but a supercharged version could make its way into the engine room at a later date as well finally giving the Escalade a V version. Expect the same wheelbase and space increases gained on the Chevies.

The Escalade will be debuting officially soon, so keep it tuned here for more updates as they come out.

Quite similar to the XT6 headlight/grille arrangement.    I much prefer this front design:

Yes, this is a Superior headlight assembly and they should have stayed with this. Using the same Chevrolet style on the XT-6 and Escalade cheapens it up.

That still makes no sense.   The # of hours isn't going to increase.   9pm EST is not 9pm PST.

Unless the announcement is at 9pm in ALL TIME ZONES.   Which makes no sense either.

It has to be... which is pretty funny.   I logged into my VM in my office in Scottsdale, and it shows 3hr 37min,  but when I logged into one of my development servers it shows 00hr 37 min (the servers are all on AST, though the data center is in Miami). (using AST because the company HQ is in Barbados).

So the page now looks as I posted above with the Introducing.. message.   Seeing lots of photos from various sources on the IG....kbb_com, caranddriver, others...just search on #Escalade.   Looking at side profile photos the greenhouse seems to be the same as the Tahoe and Yukon, with the differentiation being the bright trim on the C-pillar..all the SWB ones seem to have that kickup in the rear door window bottom edge...looks better in the brown w/ bright trim than the boring white w/ black trim.   At least 2-3 different grille treatments.

Pathertic failure of the front end. Such a shame. What a waste.

My web site still is counting down. LOL What a joke GM.

Yet they already show it on Instagram

Maybe they staggered the release on the website by time zone to keep from crashing the servers if they had a lot of traffic...

The C-pillar trim and rear door upper seems a bit busy.   Too many slanted vertical cut lines.

    I like it.

Like @Robert Hall said, the C Pillar does seem too busy but it dont bother me much.

Love the front end. I have gotten over the stacked headlight look.  I dont like the horizontal chrome piece that is just under the headlights that continue from the grill and I dont like the horizontal chrome piece  that continues from the  vertical LEDs...but that is about it.

    Love the interior.

I dont like the blacked out chrome version. Hate it actually.

I prefer if the bling bling on the C Pillar was slightly less prominent...maybe brushed nickel would work better for me...but over all, this new gen Escalade works for me and I think its a very good successor.

This Escalade really doesnt look all that different from the outgoing one...on the outside

The C Pillar on this one is chromed...and it has a slight up rising kink to it as opposed to body colour on the out-going model.

The headlights are this new  'Slade are not stacked but horizontal.

The interior on the out-going one is good to great. On this new one...it seems to be phoquing fantastic...

The overall silhouette and shape stays the same. The grille is the same overall.

So...just because it ditches the stacked headlights for horizontal ones and just because it has a slightly kinked and chromed C Pillar that Cadillac blew it?

    Okay...I guess...

I'm sure I'll like the exterior once I see it in person.  White w/ blacked out trim is always tacky, IMO.   But in that brown/gold/whatever with the bright trim, it looks classy.   Love the interior.   Looks it would make a great daily driver and road trip vehicle.

I agree with some others on here. While the interior is huge step up and there are some nice upgrades available (like that AKG audio and FINALLY IRS), the lack of a Blackwing option and a rather dull front end (when compared with past iterations) just falls flat for me. The front end looks very "Traverse" with a splashier grill to me.

This sucks. The front just looks about as bland as anything. i was really hoping for some tweaks from the rendering we saw. I didn't expect to actually GET the rendering.

This needs the large, vertical headlights that really distinguish this.

I don't hate the Cadillac design language but I just think it needs "more" here.

To me the front looks way too similar to the XT6.  Maybe too subtle.  So the black out trim is called the Sport trim.  On the FB critics are calling the white one w/ Sport trim the Stormtrooper helmet face.

I think the C-pillar trim would look better without the black insert behind the door opening.   Just a solid piece of bright trim (or black on the Sport) over the C-pillar would be cleaner, IMO.

I know that the wagon form factor results in a lot of CUVs/SUVs looking similar in some aspects, but I see a lot of Equinox in the rear door upper and some Traverse...which is fine for the Tahoe.

I would have thought the Escalade SWB could have had it's own rear door upper shape/window opening to match the LWB version.   I guess too expensive...

In the interior, I like the 'normal' shifter, leaving push button shift to GMC?   Love how the screens are integrated.

Exactly and it's just been stretched around a larger frame, literally.

The design language isn't bad, they just didn't execute it here like they did with the CT4/5/XT4/5.

This really needed the vertical headlights and I cannot emphasize that enough.

I read somewhere that automakers are moving to smaller light clusters instead of larger clusters that wrap over the top of the corners for pedestrian injury regs.  (Plastic light clusters can crack on impact rather than bend like metal).  Don’t know if that is at work here, but though it was an interesting point.

That’s kind of my problem with it. It’s not necessarily ugly but this is a $100K flagship luxury SUV and that front end just doesn’t convey its lofty price tag and perceived expectation in the marketplace.

This Escalade really doesn't look all that different from the outgoing one...on the outside Yea, not too much different than the ugly chromed ass C pillar. Shitty looking to me and the Cheap Ass front end of Roman Helmet style like Chevrolet, not Luxury!

The C Pillar on this one is chromed...and it has a slight up rising kink to it as opposed to body color on the out-going model. True, but now they have this weird stand out C pillar that does not say luxury!

The headlights are this new  'Slade are not stacked but horizontal.  True, now it really does have a rebadge look just like the XT-6 saying yes I am an over priced Chevrolet now. This is where Luxury with Luxury price should stand out. The Vertical headlights complimented the rear vertical tail lights. They failed in being too close to Chevrolet in the front end look. This is one of the rare times I will make the SMK comment of REBADGE Similarity!

The interior on the out-going one is good to great. On this new one...it seems to be phoquing fantastic... SO TRUE! Totally agree with you

The overall silhouette and shape stays the same. The grille is the same overall. Yes, same grill style, but they failed in adding the damn Roman Helmet tips

So...just because it ditches the stacked headlights for horizontal ones and just because it has a slightly kinked and chromed C Pillar that Cadillac blew it? More than that, too close in style to Chevrolet. Failed with XT-6 as they used the same headlights as the Trailblazer. While the interior says Luxury, the exterior says rebadge to me of the 1990's. Failure, yes MAJOR FAILURE!

    Okay...I guess...

Now you have my strong opinion of why this Escalade, XT-6 and every other cadillac that uses this same Roman inspired, Chevrolet Headlight style will FAIL for them!

This is actually true, they are moving to a global standard as Europe requires pedestrian impact regs that the old weird corner wrap around headlights did not meet. China has also implemented the same pedestrian regs. The US is Failing in leadership as we no longer lead in safety so now the auto industry will follow the stricter European regs that also meet the US. End result is some very piss poor and poorly designed headlights, front ends, etc. IMHO.

I don’t care for the Sport / blacked out grille, but the bright grillwork version looks pretty slick. I think this is yet another move forward for the Escalade, and it's biggest step up vs. any prior generational change.

Interesting that people who thought the unofficial renders were too like the Tahoe or Yukon are now harping on the unique touches that distinguish the Big E.

That said, I’ve never really been bonkers over the Escalade. I think Cadillac has done a tremendous job on this one from what I’ve seen, but it’s not a vehicle class that appeals to me.

I respect and understand where you are coming from. For a guy my size, this is usually a very appealing auto to me and one that does not scare me to spend $100,000 on. But with that said, this new Escalade even with the awesome updated interior fails to the point that I would NOT want to drive one looking like this. It just blends into the background for me, Lincoln is far more Luxury looking than this. This is Blah just like the Germand CUVs.

This to me is a major problem with the new Escalade:

    image.png

    1. One I hate the bling around the windows, reflects, just tacky, such a Baby Boomer thing.
    2. As has been pointed out, the C pillar is a BIG MISTAKE! Keeping it auto colored with the caddy logo would have been fine, not this pasted on black with chrome angle crap.
    3. Being that I use the space often and haul plenty of people, I need the ESV and WHY the Bunker look? Hate that the last window is up what looks like another 2 inches, so smaller, less vision out and all the windows look smaller than the outgoing 2020 model. HATE the BUNKER look, failure in design and I DOUBT it really adds that much safety to the auto's for the occupants.
    4. To ME, the B pillar looks much thicker and wider than past Escalades B pillars.
    5. Side view shows the Brick front end to be just that a FAILURE of a slab of ugly with far less sweeping design for slipping through the wind.

Gak...that's the first of the ESV's I've seen in profile...my previous C-pillar comments were about the SWB model.  That C-pillar trim is really bad on the ESV---typical GM fake quarter window black plastic trim behind the door..ugh.  Just pointless...

The nose is so flat it looks like it has no bumper in profile...same issue with the new Tahoe and Yukon.

    • No bumper look is excellent; they don’t do anything anyway.

    • I like the c-pillar trim; brands have been putting brightwork around the sidelights since the ‘33 Aerodynamic Coupe concept- thats 87 years now. It always looks dreadfully cheap when a luxury vehicle can’t bother to trim and just spraypaints all the moldings. Every see a house inside where all the trim & doors are the same color as the walls? Spray bomb rental look.

The trim here kinda approximates a sedan in profile; it disrupts the bulk of the SUV profile. Plus the detailing is a welcome return from Cadillac.

I'm not a fan of the trim but the part that is terrible is the black piece between the trim and door. The "fake" window..?

Yeah...I don't think that is a black metal painted pillar, I think it's black plastic crud like GM puts on so many cars and CUVs/SUVs (Cruze, XT4, CT5, etc).   A solid bright trim piece on the pillar would look much better, IMO---either covering the whole pillar or just behind the door opening with the rest of the pillar in body colored metal.   Either put a window in the C-pillar or not, fake black plastic crud is just tasteless and cheap looking....

It's noticeably bad on a light colored vehicle..just nasty.

I realize Cadillac wanted to differentiate the side profile from it's 'lesser brand' siblings, but this C-pillar trim is just weak sauce, something whipped up in 10 minutes with no thought, IMO.

@Robert Hall Thank you for posting those images as it also clearly points out how far the Escalade has FAILED on this release for a UNIQUE Exterior compared to the GMC or Chevrolet brand. Now it truly does show just a rebadge job on the outside, so 1990's.

What a shame that GM cannot seem to understand that Luxury needs to truly stand apart from the rest of the family.

Here is what the family looked like in 2006. Platinum for Cadillac, Denali for GMC and Z71 for Chevrolet. All far more distinct than the current group now.

The mid 2000s models had almost no differentiation along the sides, except for the plastic lower trim, running boards and wheels that I can see.. if you hide the front ends, they all look pretty much the same...

Good technology on the new Escalade, it has the stuff you need to offer in this segment.

Styling wise it looks too much like a Tahoe.  I don't know why Cadillac is going to horizontal headlights on all their vehicles when that is a Chevrolet styling cue, and Cadillac has used vertical headlamps for about 20 years.  Unless GM cost cutting is getting so bad they figure it is easier to put the same shape headlights in Chevy and Cadillac.

Usually you have the drive and once you have made sure you own static electricity is discharged on your body, open the computer and unplug the power cable and data cable to the HD. Then you unscrew the screws holding the drive in. Put the drive into an Anti-Static bag and then usually into a box that has foam padding on all sides to protect the drive and then tape it up to close it.  With both drives in their proper storage bags, you can then have both drives in between foam insulation for handling any dropping of the box, etc. Pack them in a box and tape shut, should then easily handle going through your carry on or checked in luggage. To ship a hard drive, you need to: Secure the hard drive in its original packaging or anti-static bag. If you don't have an anti-static bag, place the drive into a zipped freezer bag to prevent any moisture getting into the drive during transit. Sandwich the drive between foam or wrap it in bubble wrap to absorb any minor shocks. Put the hard drive in a padded shipping box. Close and seal the box. Label your package.
