    Don't Expect A High-Performance Stinger Anytime Soon

It's going to be a while

Hyundai-Kia's performance head said there is more performance to be unlocked in the Stinger, but it isn't going to happen anytime soon.

“The car technically has more potential no doubt, but at this point there is no plan to do more,” said Albert Biermann to Motoring.

“We have to launch this car and see how it does in the market place. What kind of customers do we get? What would be their next requirement from Kia? I think first we need to establish some sort of customer base of these kinds of cars and then maybe next steps can happen. But we need to do this carefully. Step by step."

In the meantime, Biermann suggested that Kia could do GT variants of existing models - think changes to the exterior, suspension, and powertrain. We know there are GT versions of the Optima and Rio in the cards. Once this happens, Kia might consider hopping up the Stinger.

“At a later stage, when the GT is more established into a stronger sub-label within Kia, then maybe at some point we need a GTR or something,” said Biermann.

“But for now there is nothing going on.”

Jeep GC would be my choice 100 percent...

A larger vehicle would make sense in so many ways....and you could get rid of the Honda...

I want to be rid of that Honda so bad... I've been looking at low mileage Bravadas, Rainiers, and 9-7xs just as an interim solution.

I have been looking at used F150's and Silverados.  We both could use a pickup truck like we could use oxygen.

So very happy we did not get the Civic SI with our last car purchase....I am not a fan of Honda in many ways.

I saw a 9-7x in clean shape just a couple days ago, dark red.   I saw another one here in Ohio when I was here a few months ago, dark gray with a silver dollar-sized rust hole in the hood and rust bubbles around the rear wheel arches...

A Bravada might be a worthwhile vehicle to keep around. Nieces and nephews will need something to drive and learn on if they are approaching the 14-15 year old age...

They range from 3 y/o to 22 y/o. They can learn to drive on their parents cars. ;-)

The Pacifica almost has me convinced....

But I'd like to do a bit of mild off-roading. So Avalanche/Tahoe are at the top of my list.

Somewhere out there is a Mercedes R550 with adjustable height air suspension with your name on it.  I haven't looked at prices but they have to be practically giving them away.  Or get an R63 AMG and you can out run Stingers and Mustangs and the like.

Never mind on the R-class, the seem to be picking up G-wagen like resale, a 2007 R63 is $35-40k and 7-10 year old R350s with are going for $10-20,000 even with over 100k miles.

I wouldn't buy any FCA product, they all are unreliable.  My dad has a Dodge Caravan with the  Pentastar and has spent like $4,000 this year on maintenance and had another $2200 repair that was covered by warranty.

    Fair enough...and quite the range!

I would buy an FCA product before I would buy a Benz...

My brother has an Escalade and 300 SRT8, along with a 13 and 15 year old.  He has already told me to not get rid of my 07 TSX without giving him first rights.  That might finally get me to part ways with it in a few years.

Stinger actually looks good, the more I look at it the more I like it...it does have the Kia Family language all over it...and does look a bit like an Optima IMHO.

The greenhouse is very similar to the previous Optima...similar rear door shape, similar c-pillar shape.   But the other proportions are different with the distinctly RWD front clip..the lower body and front in profile remind me a bit of the Panamera.

    • Tech help needed prior to going in to Office Depot or other store to inquire ... or conducting research and spinning my wheels: I have 2 HP Pavilion desktops ... one is circa 2019 and the other is circa 2009, and it still works.  They are boxed up. Questions: 1.  If I needed to get hard drive carrying cases, how does one go about sizing the one they should buy? 2. I have never seen one before, but I'm assuming the construction of the case is thick and tough enough to protect the hard drive, yes? 3.  How much do hard drives in typical household HP Pavilions weigh and are they easy to remove so they can be transported? THANK YOU!

    • So we're all moved into the new server, but part of the process didn't fully work and I need your help to track some things down. The URLs for a number of pictures didn't update to their new locations.  Your job, when you spot one of these, is to use the Report Post/Article/Gallery button so I can fix it.  If we get a lot of these, I'll think up of some prize for the person with the most reports.  It can be missing emojis, missing pictures in threads, or missing pictures in an article.  The fix for most of these is super simple, but I need to crowdsource finding them. I'm leaving the 2025 Acura MDX  and 2025 Infiniti QX80 articles up as an example to look at. But you can also see it in this screenshot below, where it shows: 2025 Acura MDX Interior infotainment screen and dash Thanks for any help you can offer.
    • I would look at an Ohio chapter if you want to join.  You're probably too late for seed distribution this year, I got mine right around this time last year.  My membership is expired as it was paid for through my prior employer, but it is something I'd like to join again.
