William Maley submitted The Move to Electric Marks Cadillac's Last Stand to Automotive News.

For almost two decades, Cadillac has been undergoing a transformation of sorts to become a threat to likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The various models and changes have been met with mixed react…

I think Tesla will be in big trouble when Lincoln and Benz and Cadillac start bringing Electrics.

Or...it could be a paradigm shift and they are able to ride the wave. Not sure.

William Maley submitted Nissan Cutting 700 Jobs At Their Canton Plant to Automotive News.

More bad news has hit Nissan. The automaker is planning to cut as many as many as 700 workers from their Canton, Mississippi plant - home to the Frontier, Titan, NV Van, Altima, and Murano. Llor…

dfelt

This makes total sense based on the global slow down in buying but is the news upset that Nissan is cutting jobs compared to GM, Ford or Tesla?

I stated in another thread that so many who are upset at GM better get used to these announcements as everyone else will be cutting too. This is just normal business sense to adjust for decrease in sales to control costs and keep profits up.

A Horse With No Name

The market is slowing down. Companies have the right to cut workers.

William Maley submitted Ford Is Planning An All-Electric F-150 to Automotive News.

Ford isn't shy about making its ambitious plans on electrifying their lineup known to the world. But the automaker had decided to raise the stakes with plans to build an all-electric F-150.

A Horse With No Name

Sweet!

dfelt

I think Ford, GM, Ram, Toyota and Nissan are gonna have to majorly rethink their strategy if both Rivian and Atlis get their trucks into production in the 2020 time frame.

Both Electric Trucks are going to give the 5 old OEMs above a run for their money especially if Atlis can give the same 3ft water depth that the Rivian has shown can do crossing rivers.

Heck electric trucks that are designed from the beginning that can handle having their power train submerged for periods of time will take over as emergency vehicles in areas that deal with flooding as we already see too many ICE auto's stuck in a foot of water where these trucks will just go through and rescue peeps and their fluffy friends.

It might not be called an Explorer.

I figured it out.  A back to the future Bronco II is built on D6, and it's getting the double whammy wombo combo 450 HP 600 TQ drivetrain!

frogger

Hey Infiniti, how about infotainment that isn't ancient in a new platform next time..

Drew Dowdell

I don't think an Infiniti platform nor using the VC engine will help.

It's all about branding.  The QX30 is arguably more attractive than the GLA. It's also cheaper by a few grand.  There is zero sensible reason to get the Benz over the Infiniti, yet the Benz sells more.

Can't fix badge snobs.

Cool! The 3.3T Genesis drives great.  If it wasn't for the oddly outdated infotainment system, I could really see it as an option.

It looks a lot better than the current car, but it also looks pretty much the same as the A-class sedan, I don't see the reason to build both of these when one would suffice.  I'd rather this be the "sedan" and them offer the A-class hatchback as the other body style.  I like the looks of this, the rear end that looks like a C or E coupe is an improvement over the A220.

I am not a fan of all these Edition One trims with neon orange or yellow striping that every Mercedes seems to get.  It seems like a cheap marketing ploy that they should be above doing.

CLA250 should have 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Drew Dowdell

I like the look from the rear end.  The front is pretty generic... it could be a 6-year-old Camry if it weren't for the pointed star.

"Sad trombone" is putting it nicely.

*old man mode - engage*

Back in my day,.... I remember having to be up at 5 am to make it to a 6:30 am press conference and press conferences didn't end until 4:30pm and still continued the next day.

This year, the first conference was at 8:40 and the last one ended at 2:05 with nothing on the second day.

Plus Mercedes, Volvo, Tesla, BMW didn't even bother to show up, so the floor felt empty.

dwightlooi

The WRX STi is growing stale. What qualified as exhilarating turbocharged AWD compact when the Camrys, Passats and Malibus had less than 200hp, is now... yawn... with a Silverado pickup having a 310hp / 348 lb-ft turbo four and most V6 family sedans and SUVs topping 300 horses. The WRX is stale bread... two decades old 1990s stale bread... particularly with much better appointed offerings like the Golf R ponying up 300 horses and AWD.

Such an overrated rebadge of the BMW Z4 and Toyota was wrong to connect with BMW as you now have your $2,500 Stereo system upgrade required and only Apple Play no Android available. Other option packages are standard on so many auto's. There is no reason to waste money on this car. Pass

smk4565

I don't get the hype, it isn't a very good looking car from any angle.  It doesn't really look pretty, or fast or even interesting.  The interior looks like a poor man's BMW knockoff.  And the BMW M340i makes 382 hp and costs the same as this car.  So why not just get a 3/4-series with 47 more hp, an actual BMW interior and pay the same money?
