SAN FRANCISCO — Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on Monday that the U.S. Congress should not approve the Biden administration's bill to boost subsidies for electric vehicles (EVs), saying the proposal would worsen the country's budget deficit. The billionaire entrepreneur is escalating criticism about the administration and Democrats for a proposal to give union-made, U.S.-built electric vehicles an additional $4,500 tax incentive. Tesla and foreign automakers do not have unions at their U.S. factories. ADVERTISEMENT "Honestly, it might be better if the bill doesn't pass," Musk said at the WSJ CEO Council Summit. "I'm literally saying get rid of all…

Seems some flattery is in order for Tesla, as Chargepoint showed off at the Elevate Summit conference in LA a new 2 Megawatt charging connector that has similarities to the Tesla Semi charging connector. This new connector utilizes 4 pairs of liquid-cooled 500A DC charging pins. The goal is to have a standardized connector for EV Class 8 trucks and airplanes. This would allow you to have chargers that could handle from 100 to more than 860 volts of power quickly. The benefit of getting this standardized soon is so that all auto makers could plan to support this much higher level of charging even on normal cars. Imagine charging 600 miles of rang in about 5…

So a little Birdy from GM Fleet made a comment to me and when I pushed she said she could not comment on future product. What was it she wispered to me you ask? I made the comment in talking with this individual who over sees the Pacific NW Fleet sales that I would love to buy a Diesel or CNG Suburban as Gas powered versions just do not do it for me. Her comment was just wait till the roll out of 2014 models and your wish will come true for Bi-Fuel. So I pushed her if this was an Impco product like their Bi-Fuel Trucks and she clamped up with the no comment on future products. So I am now thinking that since the 6.0 V8 in the Suburban is no different than the trucks a…

Long but interesting read, would certainly have a negative effect on near-future electricity demand & sourcing... but the fish must win. Tremendous slush money, undoubtedly a significant amount of which will be lost, mismanaged, misappropriated, re-directed or simply never get to where it was earmarked to go. Some of the numbers are too incredible to believe; $75,000,000 for one city's tourism promotion?? My favorite take-away? "Managed demand" for electricity in the region. The current biggest cost to electric vehicles is the battery pack. Current battery technology is all focused-on Lithium-ion cells either in hard case cells like Tesla uses or soft case pouches like GM is using. There are positive and negative aspects to either cell type, yet the one thing all these cells have in common is an Anode and Cathode construction with a separator in between. As a battery is charged you have power move from the cathode to the anode moving through the separator and as the battery discharges, the reverse happens move from the anode side to the cathode side in a very simple explanation. Battery-like Device Could Power Cars By Grant Slater, Associated Press posted: 07 September 2007 12:59 pm ET AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Millions of inventions pass quietly through the U.S. patent office each year. Patent No. 7,033,406 did, too, until energy insiders spotted six words in the filing that sounded like a death knell for the internal combustion engine. An Austin-based startup called EEStor promised "technologies for replacement of electrochemical batteries,'' meaning a motorist could plug in a car for five minutes and drive 500 miles roundtrip between Dallas and Houston without gasoline. They commonly used an 85 V, 10-amp system consisting of 4 motors, 1 at each wheel. The Curtis Publishing Co used a fleet of 22 of these for deliveries for 40-some years. G. David Felt - Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.cheersandgears.com Electric G-Class for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill Nye the Science guy! This info come via the Green Car Report, seems two things of notice have happened in Hollywood. First, Bill Nye the Science guy who was one of the original lessors of the GM EV-1 from 20 Years ago and has been a strong proponent of everyone going EV is the proud new owner of a 2017 Kinetic Blue Chevrolet Bolt EV. Besides driving an EV-1 and was not happy to have to turn it in and have it crushed, Bill says GM has redeemed themselves with the BOLT. To quote the story, Bill told GCR that th…

By G. David Felt Be for or against EV autos one cannot help but acknowledge that they are here to stay. California has long been one to push the industry in one direction or another. With change often came some interesting observations such as Tesla who has been funded and helped by government grants and yet for being in a state that pushed auto companies to build EV autos they lack a solid growing infrastructure for the Electric Highway in comparison to other states. Electric Highway Map Washington & Oregon Electric Highway Map California While Tesla has done wonders for pushing their own charging stations, what about support for non-Tesla EVs? This is where a qu…

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Electric NASCAR Dreams by Bill Nye The Science Guy Over at the INQUISITR web site, they posted their story about Bill Nye the Science Guy. Bill says that NASCAR is holding back the auto industry by relying on old technology. The races run engines using carburetors, getting about 2-3 MPG and sending a ton of Green House gas into the atmosphere. Bill is quoted as follows: “We could convert all of our race cars to electricity – right now – and show the public exactly what electrons can do. And most significant from my point of view, everyone in the crowd, every race fan, would want an el…

[source: MotorAuthority] Electric Supercharger Offers Diesel Efficiency for Gas Engines Less Carbon Emissions Compared to Similar Gas and Diesel Engines Existing hybrid technology uses electrical energy stored in a battery to power an electric motor connected to an internal combustion engine, but there are other ways of harnessing electrical energy to help save fuel. Engineers in the UK have developed a new system where electrical energy can be used to drive a supercharger and boost performance. Conventional superchargers are powered by a belt connected to an engine. As more power is dialed up, the supercharger draws more an…

Electrification Future of the US by NREL Electric technology, specifically EV Auto's is a love hate relationship for people in the United States. Some love the simplicity, reduced maintenance and ease of using an EV Auto and others hate them with the attitude being the current internal combustion engine auto has served us fine for 100 plus years, why do we need to change. No matter how one feels on the subject, there is no denying the fact that energy consumption is rising in the United States and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory government group just released their latest study and the end result i…
