GMC has given us a peak of the upcoming electric Sierra pickup truck which will launch only in a Denali Trim and being the third all-electric auto in the GMC Portfolio. According to GMC Vice President Duncan Aldred, the Denali Trim line holds tremendous equity for GMC and their customers being one of the most popular trims sold. To quote the VP: “We now have an opportunity to evolve Sierra’s capabilities and technologies, as afforded by transitioning to an all-electric propulsion while also elevating the luxurious design and comfort associated with Denali.” The electric Sierra will be purposefully built on the Ultium Platform with premium…

GMC had a hit on their hand when they introduced the GMC Canyon for the 2015 model year, but they've not done a lot to refresh the truck visually since then. Six years is a long time for a truck to go without a refresh, but in 2021 the Canyon will get one. In addition to the visual refresh, the Canyon is getting a new AT4 trim line like that of its big brother the Sierra. The AT4 designation brings new 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires on 17-inch aluminum wheels, an off-road tuned suspension with advanced hill descent control system, four-wheel drive standard along with a G80 rear automatic locking differential, and a transfer case skid plate. Visually, the …

I got my April issue of C&D yesterday, and they had a short review of the Denali. For the most part, they liked it a lot. They said the new 6-speed was almost always very smooth and was happy to downshift two or three ratios. They attained 20 MPG on the highway over some streches, even at near 80MPH. They averaged 12MPG throughout the test. They love the Autoride and said it feels "impossibly solid and composed and, at the same time, comfortably compliant." Performance was really surprising to me, considering that GM says the Escalade does 0-60 in 6.8s and C&D got 6.2 in the Denali. The 1/4 mile was also surprising: 15.0s at 94MPH. That's faster than a V8…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...icleId=120718#8 Road Tests Full Test: 2007 GMC Sierra Denali The luxury truck you didn't know you wanted By John Pearley Huffman, Contributor Date posted: 05-14-2007 At this moment, the 2007 GMC Sierra Denali is the most powerful pickup in regular production that money can buy. Dodge let the insane Ram SRT-10 fade away last year, Ford hasn't built the beloved F-150 Lightning since 2003 and the newly muscular Toyota Tundra is more than 20 horsepower behind. In fact the only open-bed contraption that matches the Sierra Denali pony-for-pony is the Cadillac Escalade EXT, which shares GM's 403-horsepower, 6.2-liter OHV V8 and…

At an event in Vail, Colorado today, GMC took the wraps off the 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. As before, the top of the Yukon lineup will be the Denali trim, but joining the Denali for the first time is the brand's new AT4 trim which is a more off-road ready version. The Yukon gets an all-new interior while the Denali gets its own exclusive version. The Denali instrument panel is completely new and there are also unique seats and four color themes. Real wood trims with a natural look and texture join with a Denali only leather, hand-stitched interior. For the driver, there is a 15-inch diagonal multicolor heads-up display. On the Denali, AT4, and SLT trims, there…

All Cars Central Obituaries: The 2005 GMC Envoy XUV Born: 2003 Died: Not Soon Enough! Well, it seems that the General Motors section has gone un-noticed for the last few weeks. That is primarily due to the lack of exciting news from our friends at General Motors since the mid-grade debut of the Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne doublemint twins at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. The lack of posts in each respective article shows that GM is really stirring up excitement with us here at All Cars Central. However, if you jump over to GM, for obvious reasons, they are toasting the DTS and the Lucerne as the best thing since power windows and safety glass. Incidentally, both po…

As most may have noticed GM has a very wimpy horn for their big trucks in the Silverado/Sierra class. I am looking to put in an new horn in replace of the old. I do not really want to worry about a big rig horn with all the compressor and mounting junk so just a quick replacement for a louder/deeper horn would be great. ANY SUGGESTION???

Somewhere I saw an drawing of a 2009 GMC minivan. It was included in a photo gallery of some of the NAIS vehicles. If the vehicle was produced, it would at least give GM a shot at making up some lost ground in the minivan market. Chevy and GMC should make minivans instead of Saturn, Pontiac and Buick. Lutz should have demanded that the Venture had a slight facelift and destroyed the Uplander and its boring siblings. To me the 1984 Astro was more attractive than the 2004 Uplander.

What is easier? What will cause more headach in the end? I know the price difference but are there things about a lift kit that most do not pay attention to (ex. driveshaft, axelwrap, etc.)????

My Dad has been ready to replace a 2000 F-150 that was worn-out. My parents have been long-time, loyal Ford buyers...I have worked for a Ford deale since 1992. Their first consideration was Expedition and F-150 Super-Crew. Mom currently drives (and LOVES) her 2002 Explorer. Dad was very interested in the Nissan Armada, and some of his co-workers suggested a Ridgeline. So he looked, drove, and then took Mom along to test drive again. And again. Mom & Dad's thoughts: Expedition and F-150 - good reputation and good $$ deal with my family plan pricing, but looks are a bit too bland. Performance feels weak. Armada - very impressive overall, great seats, ni…

There is a growing number of automakers who are announcing plans to electrify their lineup, while others are considering it. GMC is the latter category according to a new report from CNBC. “Certainly, it’s something we’re considering," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC when asked if there was the possibility of an electric Sierra. Aldred wouldn't say much more than that except mentioning that General Motors CEO Mary Barra has already made comments about "an all-electric future." It wouldn't be surprising if an all-electric Sierra sparks an all-electric Chevrolet Silverado since they are basically the same truck, allowing GM to take advantage of eco…

Glad I found you guys on here! This is my first post on the site, I hope it helps! I'm looking at ordering a new 2008 GMC 2500 HD. I am in the construction buisness and my Yukon is just not cutting it anymore. I have some questions that when I ask the local dealer, I'm not so sure they really know what they're talking about, hopefully someone on here does. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is the 6.0L V8 available in the HD with Active Fuel management? IF so, how do I spec it on my order? Why does the trailering capacity drop almost 3000lbs when you select 3.73 gears vs 4.10 in the gas motor? I want the better economy of the 3.73 rear end, but don't know i…

Well at least it was a GMC Envoy that was the last built model. However, I don't personally like the fact that GM had to choose the 23rd to end production of these trucks (my birthday). What hurt them was the lack of dollars spent on updates - while the '06 refresh brought some minor upgrades, it wasn't enough. If they received a new interior in '06, with the new radios (blacktie) I would have looked at getting another one. But since these trucks have been on the market since spring of 2001, they basically soldiered on for 8 years without changes (wheels, colors, minor exterior trim updates are about it). I know many of the posters on here did not like the Envoy, b…

GMC had a bit of a surprise for the Dubai International Motor Show with the Desert Fox Middle East truck concept. GM's Globe Crossers Global group of small crossovers planned Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Updated: 03/12/07, 1:48 pm et GENEVA - General Motors may produce a family of crossovers based on its global small-car architecture. The five-seat vehicles will be sold in North America as a GMC model but not built there. The crossovers would be smaller than the Saturn Vue and marketed under different brands in North America, Europe and possibly emerging markets such as Russia, India and China. Acadia Takes The Lead GMC crossover is expected to be new plant's top seller By RICK KRANZ | Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek LANSING, Mich. - General Motors expects the GMC Acadia to be the best seller among the three new crossovers it builds near here. The 2007 Acadia and Saturn Outlook and the 2008 Buick Enclave share GM's new front-drive Lambda vehicle architecture and are built at GM's newest assembly plant in Delta Township, Mich. Through May, 28,264 Acadias were sold, compared with 12,694 Outlooks and 1,905 Enclaves. Enclave production started in April. Have you seen the latest GMC commercial?....I especially like the part where it goes into 380 degrees around a Denali pickup with great hot music playing. I kind of got aroused, made me want one of those very sharp, sexy trucks. I hope GM does more of that....make me want to buy it. Bonus commercial item: I just saw a coolant commercial...of course can't remember the name because it was so blatantly sexy and I was distracted. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com May 16, 2013 This is an odd way to introduce a new body style. General Motors released a press release today talking about the aerodynamics of the new pickups. The pictures used for this press release was the regular cab version of the 2014 GMC Sierra. Now it doesn't take that much imagination to figure out what the regular cab version would look like, but I have to say it looks very nice. The Sierra regular cab used in the photos is the Z71 model with the standard bed. We'll have more information on this when the truck goes on sale later this year. "To me, there is more room for SUVs in the GMC stable. An obvious place for GMC to be if it expands is that small SUV segment," said Duncan Aldred, head of Buick and GMC last August. It seems GMC planning such an expansion if new spy shots are to be believed. It is difficult to tell whether or not this is a GMC as the two test mules are under numerous layers of camouflage. But we can make out the brand's slotted grille in the front. For some time, we had been hearing murmurs about GMC possibly building a Jeep Wrangler fighter. But judging from these photos, it seems that it will be a subcompact crossover to compete against the Jeep Renegade and Ford EcoSport. Ac…

So I'm confused. How big exactly is this Acadia? I mean I guess I kinda know as I saw the Enclave at the Chicago Auto show, but they are calling it a crossover??? Seems to be big enough and have the amenities to just be another SUV. Besides that, is this going to be replacing/phasing out the Envoy or selling alongside it? If it is replacing the Envoy(and Rainer with the Enclave), then what is Chevy going to do about the trailblazer? We've only heard of the 3 vehicles(GMC, Saturn, Buick). My wife has a 2003 Envoy now and she loves it, just wondering what her next SUV/Crossover will be now as she will only buy GM. Someone please clarify this for me.

The Jeep Wrangler really has no equal. Sure competitors come on the scene to try and take on the Wrangler, but they go away after awhile - see the Toyota FJ Cruiser as the latest example. But that isn't stopping automakers from taking a stab at it. Case in point is GMC. Buick-GMC vice president Duncan Aldred tells Edmunds that is looking at strengthening the brand by looking at the possibility of introducing new models. "We are looking at everything. What segments will grow? What segments will not? We are evaluating all possibilities that could really turbocharge the brand and the growth," said Aldred. Aldred says at the current time, GMC is in the brainstorming stage …

Hello - My wife and I are looking for another SUV and I'm just curious what you all think of the Suburban vs the Yukon XL and the Yukon XL vs the Escalade ESV. Do you think the significant price hike between the XL and ESV is worth it? As best as I can tell, the noticeable differences are a much better quality trim (leather-wrapped in the Escalade - painted plastic in the Yukon), the Escalade has a Bose 5.1 surround system, a bigger navigation screen and a better ride (IMO.) The downside is, even with my GMS pricing, it's $12k more and it doesn't have Active Fuel Management and FlexFuel (stupid move on GM's part) I appreciate any feedback and insight.

So the mid size trucks GM will have as an option the 2.8L Duramax with 200 hp/370 lb-ft. I have been searching but have not found anything on what the hauling and towing estimates will be. Does anyone have a idea either backed by engine know how of what these trucks can haul or have seen any GM documentation that would indicate what it can haul / Tow? I have been searching for the over seas spec and not found it yet, but then not very good doing a search for this info. Please post if you find it.

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 8, 2012 Last March, we got our hands on a spy picture of what was a Denali version of the GMC Terrain. The mule had a blacked out honeycomb grill and a new square, chrome exhaust tip. We though the Terrain Denali would be coming sometime this year. Well, we were right on except the year. Automotive News reports that sources inside GM say Terrain Denali is a go. The reason to building a Denali version are to keep the sales momentum going for the Terrain (2011 saw a 37% increase in sales). Building a more luxurious version of the Terrain could attract more buyers, with Denali vehicles seeing a 79% increase last…

The last few weeks have been awash with reports about huge price increases in the large crossover segment. The 2024 Hyundai Santa will jump over $5,000 on some trims, the 2024 Ford Explorer jumps $4,360, and the sibling to the GMC Acadia, the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse increases, at minimum, $3,580. So it is no real surprise to see a report today from CarsDirect that the order guide is showing some versions of the 2024 GMC Acadia are going up by over $6,600. The GMC, like the Hyundai Santa Fe, likely has the best excuse for such a large price increase, it is sizing up as well. For 2024, the Acadia's wheelbase grows 8.9 inches, overall length grows just over 10 inches,…

Based on MSRG's listed from both websites, the base price for a Chevy Silverado 1LT, 2WD extended cab is $26,860. A Sierra SLE1 3SA, 2WD extended cab lists for $27,455. Unless I am overlooking something, both trucks have the identical features and options. Another price difference is on the Max Trailering Package. Chevy list price is $1,685 and GMC's is $2,265. Both packages are identical. Personally, I prefer the looks of the GMC over the Chevy. I was leaning towards purchasing the Sierra, but Chevy appears to be a better bargain. I will have to admit tha…

Terrain? As long as that terrain is no more challenging than a pebble in the asphalt. The Skoda Yeti offers a variety of engines and transmissions, and in the 4WD model, offers differential locks, for piece of mind even if you're only on an uneven sand trail back to your favorite beach spot. Terrain has about a $13,000 price differential between base 4 cylinder FWD models and loaded V6 AWD models, yet it offers not much variety in drivetrain options, nor is it even pretending to be useful offroad. To me GMC is wasting an opportunity to be professional grade here. I like the looks of the Terrain, even if it is a bit too low to the ground. A vehicle sold here in the s…

... after 20 years of waiting, I'm a bit disappointed to hear that I won't be getting an El Camino. That GM has given, or plans to give, the VE ute to another brand other than Chevy. I need some time to think this over. So please use this thread to make the case for the Ute as a Chevy,Pontiac, or GMC. I'll just sit back and read for a while. Let's not make it a debate though, just state your position and support it. Thanks.

Aside from the turbo-four engine, the 3.0L Duramax diesel inline-six for the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 has us very intrigued. General Motors has been quiet on power figures and fuel economy for this engine since announcing this engine earlier in the year. But thanks to a crafty person who got some photographs off of GM Canada’s dealer site, we now have some figures. The photos were posted by TFL Truck and reveal the diesel engine produces 282 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque - 32 horsepower and 10 pound-feet more than the F-150's 3.0L PowerStroke diesel. GM also claims a highway fuel economy figure of 28 mpg - about two mpg less tha…

The rumors that have been swirling around for the past year have been laid to rest this morning. General Motors announced that Hummer will be returning as GMC-branded electric pickup truck boasting 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph will take three seconds. Those hoping for details about battery capacity, charging, and price will need to keep waiting until May 20th when GMC will officially show off the truck. Before then, GMC will preview the truck in a thirty second ad during the Super Bowl on Sunday. “GMC builds premium and capable trucks and SUVs and the GMC HUMMER EV takes this to new heights. We are excited to debut our revolutionary zero-emis…
