Over a year later after Volvo teased us with the 40.1 and 40.2 concepts, they have introduced the first model in the 40-Series family, the 2018 XC40. Volvo made a stunning announcement this morning as it plans to equip all of their vehicles with an electric motor beginning in 2019. “This announcement marks the end of the solely combustion engine-powered car. The next step in Volvo's lineup revitalization plans was revealed today in Gothenburg, Sweden. The 2017 Volvo S90 will take the place of the long-running S80 as the automaker's biggest sedan. Just one look at the S90 and you can tell that it is an all-new model. Volvo has announced that all 2020 Volvos will come with an electronically limited top speed of 180 kph or 112 mph. The move is in pursuit of its Vision 2020 goal to have no fatalities or serious injuries in a new Volvo by 2020. The company identified three remaining gaps in its plan, one of which being speeding. The 2019 Volvo S60 marks a few milestones for the Swedish automaker. For one, Volvo can finally say goodbye to the final remnants of its Ford ownership. Volvo is shifting production of XC60s destined for the U.S. from China to Europe in an effort to avoid a 25 percent tariff on Chinese imports. Volvo introduced the mildest of mild refreshes today on the XC90 while simultaneously announcing refreshes on their T8 and T6 Twin Engine lines. The new powertrain is said to offer up to 15% fuel saving and emissions reduction in real-world driving. The new system offers brake-by-wire energy recovery to recover kinetic energy while driving. Next week, Volvo will debut their new XC40 crossover. They have already released a teaser video showing only small snippets of the models. Autocar spoke with Polestar COO Jonathan Goodman at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed. Ever since pictures of a Volvo V90 wagon diecast model made their way onto the web last fall, everyone has been waiting to see the full size version of it. While all eyes are on the new 2015 Volvo XC90, Volvo is hard at work on their future models. Car & Driver caught a slide during the presentation which outlines what in store for the swedish brand.
