William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 4, 2012 A few weeks ago, a picture of what could be the new Viper showed up on the net. The picture was from a Hot Wheels poster showing their 2012 lineup. Well, there's more from Hot Wheels. A poster on the Newfoundland Motorsports forum posted two pictures of a 1/64 Viper die-cast. The diecast matches up with the teasers and spy shots that have been coming out for the past few months, especially with the hood. We'll find out if this diecast matches up with the next Viper next month. Source: Newfoundland Motorsports Forum View full article

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 30, 2012 Sales of the Dodge Dart have been lackluster. For the first two months, Dodge has only sold 974 Darts. This would be ok if the Dart was a high-end luxury vehicle, not a vehicle competing in the highly contested compact market. Dealers say the reason for the slow sales is the majority of Darts being equipped with a manual transmission. "We were just told that [the automatics] weren't ready yet.We were a little surprised by it," Mr. Kelleher added. "We're a little bit out of the water with stick [shifts]. We sell so few of them," said David Kelleher, owner of a Chrysler dealership in Glen Mills, Pa. "A gr…

Last month, we learned that Dodge had some interesting plans for the Challenger . There is an all-wheel drive version that will be introduced this fall, followed up by a widebody model with the Hellcat V8 known as the ADR. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have the first photos of the ADR. Now the two vehicles photographed don't have the wider fenders installed, but the wider tires give away their identity. We can't tell how wide the tires are, but it would be safe to assume they are in the range of 315 or more. We don't know if Dodge has some other changes in store for the suspension or brakes. Motor1 says there are reports that Dodge could increase the Hellcat's out…

Whenever an automaker reveals a new model at an auto show, they tend to have a difficult time trying to sell the current model. But Dodge is going to try something new they hope will alleviate that problem. The Dodge Double-Down will offer buyers a one-year lease on a 2014 Charger and Challenger starting on April 17, the same day the brand will be showing off the new 2015 versions of the two models. After a year, a buyer can move into a three-year lease on a 2015 model of either vehicle for the same payment and no more money down. If a buyer decides to buy either 2015 model, they'll get a $1,000 incentive. “If you have your eye on a new Challenger or Charger, there’s no…

Just A Peek: Dodge Officially Teases 2011 Charger Interior Sunday, October 10th 2010 by "black-knight" We've more or less seen the new Charger's interior already through countless spy photos over the recent months, but those Dodge boys, who just love to tease us all, decided to throw us a bone anyway on the official 2011 Charger website. From the teaser shot, we know for sure the Charger will have the same steering wheel as the recently revealed interior of the 2011 Durango and Dodge is promising better materials and excellent fit 'n finish for everyone's favorite rebel American sedan (not that that's a extremely difficult thing to do in the first place). Chee…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 16, 2013 The rumors of the impending death of Dodge have been swirling around for the past year or so, thanks to products being moved to another brand or becoming their own, and products being dropped off with no word of a replacement. However, SRT CEO Ralph Gilles says Dodge is sticking around. "Dodge is here to stay! It may get more focused going forward but not killed!," Gilles said on Instagram in response to a question by a user. The 'more focused' has us wondering though: With the rumors of the Grand Caravan and possibly the Durango being killed off, does this mean Dodge will solely be a car brand? Source: I…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com December 26, 2011 On Christmas Eve, Chrysler made the announcement that production of the Dodge Caliber has ended to make way for the new Dart. Introduced back in 2006, the Caliber would replace the long running Neon. But the Caliber got a lot of negative press due to lack-luster driving dynamics and a cheap plastic interior. The Caliber's replacement, Dart will makes it's first appearance at next month's Detroit Auto Show. Analysts believe the Dart will be more successful than the Caliber. Well, I'm not going to give a full write up or anything but I thought I'd throw a few thoughts/comments out there on my first ever new Chrysler product. I really wanted a V6/8-speed car due to my daily commute but got too good of a deal on the R/T to pass it up. Now that I have it, I'm glad I got the Hemi. Here are my thoughts: 1) It gets much better gas mileage than I expected. When I bought it, I was hoping for steady 17+ mpg since my 50 mile per day round trip commute is 44 miles of surface streets with traffic lights (albeit fairly well timed). For the 8k miles I have put on it, I'd say it has averaged closer to 19 mpg and since I just got it in October, that m…

As the Dodge Viper drives off into the sunset, its home since 1995 will be shut down. NBC Detroit affiliate WDIV reports that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' will be closing down the Conner Avenue Assembly in Detroit at the end of August. At the moment, more than 80 people work at the plant. In a notice filed with the state of Michigan in June, FCA said it would be offering positions at other locations to those affected. Formally a plant for Champion spark plugs, FCA took it over in 1995 to produce the Viper. Connor would also be home to the Plymouth Prowler from 1997 to 2002. 2011 Dodge Avenger Drew Dowdell - Chief Editor CheersandGears.com Dodge released pictures of the 2011 Dodge Avenger to virtually no fanfare today, and really, why should they? Dodge says that the Avenger has been completely overhauled for 2011 but the car itself will look familiar. Familiar is a bit of an understatement since we think that the only people who would notice any changes from the exterior are current owners.... and even then it would be more along the lines of "something about you change, but I can't put my finger on what". The biggest changes happen inside and under the hood the new Pentastar V6 takes up residence producing 283 horsepower (good for …

Rumorpile: 8.7L V10 For The Next Viper? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 27, 2011 We're still a couple years away from SRT releasing the Viper out into the wild, but that isn't stopping rumors from flying around. We know that there is a new Viper on the way and has been testing for the past year. Now, Allpar is reporting the new Viper will use a 8.7L V10 engine, making it the largest displacement engine ever used in a Chrysler production car. Horsepower and torque ratings hasn't been said, but it would be safe to assume it would be above the 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque of the previous Viper. Allpar …

Chrysler's supercharged 6.2L V8, named Hellcat, has been a sensation since it was first announced earlier this year. With 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, this engine put many sportscars and even supercars to shame. But according to Automotive News, the Hellcat may have never even happened. In early 2011, Fiat was in the process of figuring out plan for Chrysler and deciding where to spend money on product development. The Hellcat V8 was in the process of planning, but it was shelved and engineers were moved to other projects. However, engineers in SRT still dreamed about this engine making it into production, and pushed hard to bring it to life. Their effort…

A week ago, Dodge dropped a teaser announcing the return of the Demon nameplate. It will appear on the Challenger SRT and become the "new ultimate performance halo" vehicle of the lineup. Yes, there will be a model that usurps the SRT Hellcat. Dodge for its part has released two teaser videos about the Demon. The most recent video reveals that the Demon will be 200 pounds lighter than the Hellcat. It is suggested in the video that various components in the suspension, steering, and interior have been swapped for lighter parts. Dodge will be revealing the Challenger SRT Demon at the New York Auto Show in April. Source: Dodge Press Release is on Page 2 D…

Ricci is not a professional racer, but he is an experienced sportsman with decades of experience under his belt. When he got his 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, he quickly bought a proper set of drag tires which helped him turn out very impressive times on his first time at the track. Ricci’s black Challenger made all three passes down the track in the 10.90 range, which is very good for a stock car with nothing more than a sticky set of ti…

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is generating a lot of excitement and some Dodge dealers are beginning to take deposits for it. One issue though, dealers don't have information on pricing or instructions on how to order one which could mean that you might not end up with one. "Technically, no one should be taking any deposits. They can't physically take an order, and they shouldn't be taking any deposits," said Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger car brands at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to Roadshow. The reason why? Kuniskis says "we haven't given the dealers the allocation methodology, the allocation numbers or opened up the order banks yet." There is also prece…

Rumorpile: Dodge Getting A Durango SRT8? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com September 21, 2011 With the introduction of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Chrysler's SRT Group is wondering if they should share the love with the Jeep's platform mate, the Dodge Durango. Chrysler isn't saying anything but a source tells Inside Line a Durango SRT8 is being seriously considered. It will have the 470 HP 6.4-liter Hemi V8, adjustable suspension, all-wheel-drive system, and huge Brembo brakes. And that's where the idea of the Durango SRT8 begins to hit the skids. All the hardware in the Grand Cherokee SRT8 has boosted the pricetag to $54,470 and ha…

Spy Photos: 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan - Edmunds Inside Line By Mike Magrath | October 8, 2010 These are the first spy photos of the newly redesigned 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. This new Dodge minivan is showing a dramatically redesigned face showing the new Dodge crosshair grill and a -- dare we say it -- sporty lower fascia. The headlights are also redesigned, or should we say, designed as the last ones were lifeless rectangles. And out back there's more.... Yep, those are LED tail lights on a Chrysler Mini van. They also stick out from the body now, much like the last gen Durango with two 3d tunnels that house the LED rings. A DODGE logo now replaces…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com May 20, 2013 Chrysler is reportedly developing a new supercharged HEMI V8 to compete with high-performance vehicles such as the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Ford Mustang GT500. This new engine, code-named Hellcat, is believed to be a 6.2L HEMI V8 equipped with a supercharger. The engine is capable of producing power close to the 640 horsepower found in the SRT Viper's 8.4L V10. This engine first came to light back in January by Allpar and was recently confirmed by unnamed sources to Automotive News. The new supercharged 6.2L V8 is expected to debut on the next-generation Dodge Challenger, which is expected to go into pro…

The Dodge Hellcat models are a huge success with 4,000 Challenger and Charger Hellcat models sold out of a total of 88,000 muscle cars. "It's a small sliver of what we sell, but it really creates a halo for the rest of the lineup," said Dodge and SRT CEO Tim Kuniskis to Automotive News. It has become quite a success for the brand that Dodge is increasing production of the Hellcat engine to help reduce the "huge flood” of orders. This will be the second increase in production of the Hellcat models. "We're going to build more [Hellcats] for 2016. We stopped taking all Hellcat orders months ago so that we could catch up to that demand, and then we will launch the…
