According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA are in merger talks. This after the failed merger negotiations last spring between FCA and Renault. The merger is reportedly an all-share merger of equals with PSA CEO Carlos Tavares at the helm as CEO and FCA Chairman John Elkann retaining his position in the new company. The "talks are fluid" and the paper reported that "no guarantee that any final agreement will be reached". FCA had previously turned down a merger offer from PSA back in March. PSA is still digesting their acquisition of Opel from General Motors. View full article

The Dodge Caravan is one of the vehicles that helped saved Chrysler Corporation in the 1980s. Introduced in November 1983, the Caravan, along with the Plymouth Voyager, was based on the K-Car platform championed by Lee Iaccoca. Chrysler recently re-introduced the Voyager under the Chrysler brand as the low cost entry into the minivan market. The Voyager is a low cost version of the Chrysler Pacifica Minivan that was introduced in 2016. Dodge continued production of the Grand Caravan as the low-cost model while the Pacifica aims for higher end customers. The Voyager, starting at $26,958, will come in three trims, L, LX, and LXi, the last one reserved for fleet buyer…

I work over in Auburn Hills near the Chrysler tech center, so it isn't very uncommon to see Chrysler vehicles around with camo on them. Well today coming back to work from lunch, I saw a silver Challenger with some camo on it going the other way. I quickly pulled a u turn in the middle of Opdyke and chased it down! So I finally catch up with him, and we pull up first to the light together. I was taking some pics on my camera phone and the guys inside didn't look too happy about it, but when I threw them a rev their expressions changed. The two guys in it both smiled, and I was like YEAH IM GONNA RACE THE CHALLENGER!! The light turned green, and we both rolled into the th…

Ok, so these two are old, very old. The Backpack was a 1995 concept that was, frankly, cool. Almost useless (c'mon, a pickup with a 3ft bed?) but totally cool. Should have been produced just for the sake of producing it. The Expresso (wikipedia lists it as a Plymouth, the website the pics come from says its a Chrysler), on the other hand, should have had a coathanger abortion before the public could be subjected to it. Just a couple random Plymouth concepts from back in the day.

Well according to Autoblog these vehicles are going away very shortly, the next round may include the Commander. I personally love the Magnum wagon, especially in SRT form. I think the Pacifica is a great vehicle, why didn't they market it as a crossover or give it the subtle makeover it needs? I guess we will never find out. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/31/chrysle...ifica-pt-cruis/

Jeremy Clarkson Review: Chrysler Sebring Cabriolet 2.7 V6 From The Sunday Times - October 5, 2008 Link to Article Many people imagine when they rent a convertible in America that they’ll be thumping down Highway 1 under a blazing sky in a throbbing Corvette or an evocative Mustang. Yum yum, they think. Freedom. Sunshine. A V8 bass line. Engineer boots, leather jackets and tight blue jeans. The American dream. Sadly, however, most tourists end up with a Chrysler Sebring convertible, which is almost certainly the worst car in the entire world. My journey in this automotive horror story began in Wendover. Famous for being a base used by the Enola Gay back in 19…

Chrysler set to ax models Up to 5 that compete with other company vehicles are likely to go October 17, 2007 | BY TIM HIGGINS | Link to Original Article @ Detroit Free Press Chrysler LLC could cut as many as five nameplates within the month as part of its quick and dramatic makeover as a newly private company. About five vehicles are being considered for elimination, but the source would not reveal which ones. First of all I like this website In l.a. around the afternoon i saw this chrysler in a gas station, so (luckly) i had my camera at the time and took a couple of pic. The first pic it looks like it "bending", because it's the camera fault. Here's some bits and pieces of this chrysler; - This appears to be a "base" chrysler: wheel covers, cloth seating, single exhaust pipe, black outside mirrors. - The front end grill is similar to the current crossfire - There are structureless wiper blades. - Headlights are a two bulb and a turn-signal setup which looks like a mix of the crossfire and that 5-door chrysler concept ( i forgot the name) - the back is complet…

Fiat Chrysler posted a record $2.3 billion in operating profit in North America for third quarter 2019. Must of that was attributed to maintaining a firm hold on costs and customers opting for higher-trim level vehicles. Margin for the quarter in North America climbed to 10.6 percent, an all time high. Overall, North American revenue was flat at $21.3 billion and shipments down 11 percent. Globally, adjusted earnings rose 5 percent while revenue declined 1 percent. Global shipments were also down 9 percent. Even with all of that good news, one time charges added up to a $200 million loss, including $795 million for a settlement over the diesel scandal, and a …

Came across this set of photos today. Here is Miss Belvedere at Ultra-One in Hackettstown, NJ on June 6, 2008. Note partial exterior cleanup of fender, part of the door, and half of the upper and lower grille sections. Side view of the car. A closeup of the cleaned up passenger fender and tire. The fender seems to have survived fairly well. The chrome on the vent window frame looks great, with only one or two pits in the metal. The gas tank on the left looks like it survived and could probably be reused if the car was restored. The leaf springs, as seen on the right, have brittled and snapped. This is true for both sides. The southern…

From Autoblog: In order to celebrate its new found freedom after being divorced from DaimlerChrysler AG, the newly minted Chrysler Corp. will ditch its current winged logo and return to the famous Pentastar logo. The Detroit Free Press is reporting that a senior executive has already emailed some Chrysler employees about the switch back to the old logo after learning about it in a meeting Monday night with veeps and senior management. In addition, the Pentastar will get a redesign to update its look. Chrysler Imperial Gets Royal Flush From CAW Plant By Eric Mayne Link to Full Article @ WardsAuto.com, Mar 2, 2007 9:20 AM Workers at Chrysler Group’s assembly plant in Brampton, ON, Canada, have thrown a monkey wrench into the embattled auto maker’s long-term product plans. In Depth: 2007 Dodge Nitro Auburn Hills, Mich., Oct 1, 2006 - To better understand a new product, sometimes it helps to know what it is not. Take the all-new 2007 Dodge Nitro, for example. Nitro is not another mid-size sport-utility vehicle with sleep-inducing styling. Instead, the bold styling and masculine swagger of Dodge (think Viper, Ram, Magnum and Caliber) is hot-wired into Nitro, inside and out. The Dodge Nitro is not stuck on its handsome good looks. It’s also functional. Nitro’s spacious interior has room for five passengers, innovative cargo features, and the seating and storage flexibility to handle the needs of people and their gear. Shocker: The Jeep Compass' Stumbling Start As Chrysler dealers offer discounts on 2006 and existing 2007 models, they compete with the Compass, launched in July. The discounting may have slowed the Compass launch a little, although Chrysler says it is pleased so far. Early signs are that the Compass is off to a slower start than the Dodge Caliber. The average transaction price has dropped from $22,467 when the Compass was launched to $21,534 as of Sept. 24, according to the Power Information Network. In contrast, transaction prices for the Caliber have risen from $17,059 at launch in March to $18,276 as of Sept. 24. Read "Slow Start" @ Autoweek

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/5411/aspena9ad.jpg Okay-looking, a bit square in front, and only necessary because Jeep screwed up by not making the ugly, boxy Commander full-size. I don't see the need for a Chrysler SUV above Pacifica-only if Imperial became a luxury marque and offered a full-lineup, and then only would I find it acceptable. Basically, it looks like it will compete with GMC Yukon and to a lesser extent, the Mercury Mountaineer.

There has been a lot of speculation and rumors the past year or two as to what would be the next SRT8 engine. From 6.4 to 6.7 to 7.0 and a few other "liters". There was also talk of the "392" only being available as a crate motor. I was told a couple years ago at the SEMA show that the "392" would ONLY be referred to as a "392" and NOT a "6.4", but recent documents list it as "6.4"... maybe they will still call it a "392" for the Challenger, who knows. Well, the next SRT8 engine WILL be a 6.4L SMPI engine with specs similar to the 392, more than 500 HP with similar numbers for torque. The new engine will debut in the SRT8 version of the Challenger, rumored for the 2009 m…

Just for speculation and entertainment purposes, what would you like to see from Chrysler in the years to come? Although I am not supporting the idea, I will post my lineup based on the rumor that Chrysler = cars, Dodge = trucks, and Jeep = SUVs. Fuel mileage fears doom Chrysler Imperial Link to Original Article @ DetNews Chrysler, the fourth-largest U.S. automaker, dropped plans for the new Imperial luxury sedan because of rising gasoline prices and tougher fuel-economy regulations, Bloomberg News and the Windsor Star reported today. Executives made the decision within the past few weeks, Chrysler spokesman Ed Saenz told Bloomberg today. The Auburn Hills-based automaker unveiled the Imperial two years ago and had planned to start production in 2009 in Brampton, Ontario. "There was no business case for us to bring it to the market," Saenz said. "We will continue to look for a future product for the plant." Th…

Stopped by one of the local Mopar dealerships this afternoon and looked at the new bigger Jeep. Sure enough, it's blocky, but it's handsome, and despite the pics that make it look kinda tippy, it really doesn't give that impression first hand. It has a nice stance. Overall, I give it a preliminary grade of B (haven't driven it.)

I just picked up my new company car.....a 2006 Liberty Sport 4X4 with a 6-speed MANUAL transmission.....surely a rare bird these days. MSRP - $26,400. Sport package, 4X4, 3.7L OHC V6, manual tranny, moonroof, 6-disc changer, Infinity speakers, skid plate package, alloy wheels, dark tint, 6-way power driver seat, etc. Black with Khaki cloth interior. I looked at everything (in my company's price range) from an Equinox, Escape, Tucson/Sportage twins, RAV4, CR-V, etc. I chose the Jeep because ultimately, I wanted something a bit more than a "cute ute" because I do occasionally do some light off-roading when we go to the desert, and I also want to be a…

MSNBC - Newsweek Business - commentary Can Chrysler Turn Itself Around? With a new management team in place, the automaker is primed for change. And some of its big-gulp SUVs appear destined to become roadkill. WEB-EXCLUSIVE COMMENTARY By Keith Naughton Sept. 12, 2007 - Bob Nardelli prowled the stage of the Detroit Athletic Club like a caged animal. Made famous by Michael Moore's documentary "Roger & Me," this was the same fusty, old venue that ejected Moore as he hunted down then GM chairman Roger Smith. But last Friday, all eyes were focused on Nardelli. The new 59-year-old CEO of Chrysler was out to show that he'd brought some of the intensity he learned as …

Spied: Jeep Scrambler Concept/AEV Brute According to Eric Ridenour, the Jeep Gladiator was axed because it required its own unique platform. A production Jeep truck, if approved, would have to be based on an existing body-on-frame architecture, which brings us to the Wrangler pickup prototype we spotted in Detroit, as it was being transported between two off-site facilities for final assembly work. A Wrangler pickup has been rumored for quite some time, with the name Scrambler mentioned. Read "The Jeep Scrambler: Wrangler-based Pickup" @ Allpar

Dodge Hornet gets the go-ahead Link to Original Article @ AutoCar Chrysler will shortly announce that it is going ahead with the launch of its Dodge Hornet supermini, which it will develop in collaboration with Chinese company Chery. The car could be revealed in close-to-production guise at this autumn’s Frankfurt motor show. The Hornet was first shown as a concept at the Geneva motor show in 2006, where it was widely admired for its tough-looking style. Chrysler plans to enter the crowded European supermini segment with the one range, resisting the temptation to launch a Chrysler-branded version alongside, as it has done with the Mondeo-class Dodge Avenger and Chry…

Chery's U.S. car likely to cost $10,000 Analysts call initial quote of $7,000 too low Link to Original Article @ Detroit Free Press Chrysler is unlikely to roll out a $7,000 car when it brings the first Chery-made American-brand small car to the U.S. market in 2009, U.S. industry analysts said Thursday. Rather than hit the streets with an extremely cheap set of wheels, Chrysler and Chery will more likely beef up the Chery A1 to about $10,000 with features and content expected by American consumers. Shortly after the Chinese government gave the OK to a deal between the two automakers, Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda said his company would begin selling cars made by Chery Aut…

What is going on Fiat Chrysler Automobiles? Reuters reports that a number of new and redesigned vehicles have been pushed back as the company searches for a new partner. The delays allow FCA to save billions of dollars in investment. Suppliers who have seen say at least 12 future vehicle programs from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Maserati, and Ram have been delayed. Two of those vehicles, the next Jeep Wrangler and Ram 1500 are reportedly moving to dates later in 2017. Suppliers say there are a number of reasons as to the delays such as last-minute design and engineering changes - some of which are helping save a fair amount of cash. FCA declined to comment on the d…

nice looking on the outside, nicely packaged as far as height, etc. could not get inside, but the plastics looked awfully cheap. The dash is boxy and plain, but everything seems laid ok pretty good. Leg room looked spacious and the height of the seats seemed to be appealing. The gray color scheme was a bit dreadful. Cabin is at least airy. cargo area looks small. It doesn't appear as though you can get items with much height or width back there. forget what it was priced at but it seemed decent. I will give it a pass since it has all new chassis and powertrains and at least in the seating areas seems to provide comfort. The user controls seem well laid out. …

he National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) have entered a consent agreement that will see FCA paying a record $105 million civil penalty after the Government investigated 23 different recalls into the company since 2009. “Today’s action holds Fiat Chrysler accountable for its past failures, pushes them to get unsafe vehicles repaired or off the roads and takes concrete steps to keep Americans safer going forward. This civil penalty puts manufacturers on notice that the department will act when they do not take their obligations to repair safety defects seriously,” said Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. If there is one thing that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is consistent on, it is their ability to change their future plans on a whim and cause us to scratch our heads. Instead, all of the models will get will one more refresh in 2019 that will cut weight and boost fuel economy. There is also talk about the 300 getting the option of the Hellcat V8 because FCA thinks we don't have enough vehicles with it?! In 2021, the Charger and Challenger will be (finally) redesigned. DCX Considering Chrysler Group Sale? DaimlerChrysler reported third quarter earnings today of $686 million in net profit, but its Chrysler Group division dragged down that profit margin by posting a loss of $1.47 billion, a figure that completely erased the gain of $1.24 billion made by Mercedes-Benz. During a presentation today, DaimlerChrysler CFO Bodo Uebber didn't rule out the possibility that the Chrysler Group could be sold off. While far from saying the division has a For Sale on its windshield, Uebber told reporters, "We don't exclude anything here... We will do our analysis. Second, we will talk about measures. And third, we will draw our conclusions." Read …
