Here's a photograph of the engine bay for an experimental high performance model of a production car. Who built it, and what's unusual about the engine?

In 1955, Oldsmobile built a few Golden Anniversary 88s, painted black and gold two-tone. Burt Reynolds drove one in the movie "WW and the Dixie Dance Kings". I've been agonizing over this since the Hershey show. If anyone has any information on this car, how many were built, and the significance of it, I'd really appreciate it.

I was thinking about this today. What starting letter of the model name has sold the most cars? I have a theory, but I'll wait to share it. I can't confirm the answer here, and I wonder if it even can be confirmed... e.g. Chevy Silverado would be an "S".

With the '06 Lincoln Zephyr being a one-year only model (becoming MKZ for '07), I was trying to think of some other examples of models whose name lasted only 1 year... or for that matter, models that lasted only 1 year or whose design lasted only 1 year..pretty rare in modern times..

I searched thinking there must be a thread on this in here but couldn't find it. Probably using the wrong search string.... oh well. I was recently looking up some info on Cars, the recent Pixar movie. EVERY car guy or gal should see this. Anyway, I was listening to some of the soundtrack and it got me thinking about just how many songs were inspired by our beloved GM. Most songs I know of are about GM models, engines, etc. There are a few about Fords. I'm sure there's gotta be some Mopar songs, though I don't know of them. I do not ever recall a song about a Honduh or TOYota. Okay, except "Pink Cadillac" which states that her (or his) love is bigger than a Hon…

I know this really isn't triva, but I did not want it to get lost in the sea of the "Lounge". Just imagine what the average car would look like if Studebaker had continued into the 1970’s and beyond. Most of that would be speculation, but thanks to an article in my newest copy of the Avanti Magazine, we have a better idea of what Studebaker would have brought to market in 1970. Robert Marcks, was an employee for Raymond Loewy in the 50’s and 60’s and partner in the design firm Marcks/Hazelquist/Powers that was commissioned to design the 1966 Studebakers. His firm also made proposals for models that would have appeared in the 1970 model year. Robert shared these desig…

The race for the coveted Tight Whips Trivia Trophy continues. Five questions down and 54 to go. Durring his long and impressive career this designer worked for several US Automotive companies, some more obscure than others. Over the course of a few decades he designed dozens of GM cars including a few LaSalles, as well as cars for Mopar & FoMoCo, Packard, Cord, Stutz, Auburn, Duesenberg & Dietrich Body Company. And that's an incomplete list as he was also a freelance designer for years.

Random thing that came to mind, though probably easy. I'm not sure how many people know about it... This rotating piece within the block can be found in the 3800 engine along with others. It's sole purpose is to reduce engine vibration for a smoother running engine. What is it?

All right y'all. Lets see if you know these. What car did Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr drive in the movie? What car did Frank Sinatra drive? What car did Burt Reynolds and Dom Delouise (sp?) drive? What, at the time, very young martial arts star was in this movie? There were two characters on this movie from the same TV series. What series and what two actors were they? One character from MASH was in the movie, what was his character's name and his real name? And one final one, what was the name of the orangutang (sp?), and what other movie did he star in along with another actor?

This car featured some very advanced technology in its day. A 10 foot 2 inch fiberglass body in the style of a city car and a hybrid powertrain. Notice no quotations on hybrid. It was refered to as a hybrid even though it was shown years before the Insight & Prius were twinkles in their respective Nipponese parent's eyes. As you might expect it had electric motors & a conventional gasoline engine as well.
