Alfa Romeo still has some crossover rollouts coming, however a recent peak at the quarterly earning statement gave a clue as to what else is happening at the brand, and the truth is, it isn't much. During the unveiling of the latest five-year plan for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Alfa Romeo revealed that it would have two more SUVs by 2022. At the time, we knew some of the details on the larger of the two new SUVs - would come with a new mild-hybrid system and use a stretched version of the Giorgio platform - what underpins the Giulia and Stelvio. Next month could be bringing some big news for Alfa Romeo. Autocar is reporting that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne will be announcing a new large SUV and Giulia coupe at the company's Balocco test track in Italy. Alfa Romeo is reportedly working on Giulia-based coupe that could go on sale as early as next year. Autocar reports the new coupe will share most of the front panels found on the Giulia sedan, although a different grille is likely. If you thought Alfa Romeo was going to stop with just doing the Giulia sedan, think again. Motoring has learned that Alfa Romeo is planning to show a Giulia coupe at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The report says the coupe will revive the Sprint name and take on the likes of the Audi A5, BMW 4-Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe. It seems we are finally coming to the end of a long tunnel with the Alfa Romeo Giulia as the company has announced pricing for the lineup that will begin selling this month. Although there will only be one Giulia available for the time being and that is the most expensive one. It seems whenever we write a news story about Alfa Romeo, it usually is for bad news. This is no different. Road & Track has learned from various journalists who attended the U.S. launch of the Giulia that there were no manual vehicles available. An odd omission since the U.S. was the only market going to get a manual transmission for Giulia Quadrifoglio and this transmission was available for those attending the European launch. Trying to figure out what is coming down the pipeline at Alfa Romeo is an exercise in frustration. It seems a month doesn't go by without something changing, whether it be a new model or plans being scrapped for another. You have to wonder who was asleep or not paying any attention at Alfa Romeo during the editing of a video. Because a video that was published and subsequently made private possibly revealed the upcoming Stelvio crossover. Motor Trend reports that in a video posted on Fiat Chrysler Automobile's YouTube page, there is a crossover on Fiat's Cassino assembly plant in Italy that appears to be going through an inspection. Thanks to a spy photographer, we got our first look at the upcoming Alfa Romeo Stelvio crossover. The front end gives away this camouflaged vehicle is an Alfa as it has a rounded triangle grille. The headlights are slightly covered up, but we think they could be the same slim units as found in the Giulia. The box on the rear end looks to be trying the hide the shape of the rear tailgate. Under the skin, the Stelvio is expected to use a modified version of the Giulia's platform. Power will come from a range of gas and diesel engines. We could count on both hands the number of stories we have written about the Alfa Romeo Giulia being delayed for one reason or another. But according to FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne, the reason for all of those various delays is to make sure it would be a true rival to models such as the BMW 3-Series. There is a next-generation Alfa Romeo Giulietta coming and it could be going with rear-wheel drive. Auto Express recently spoke with FCA's head of passenger vehicle design Alberto Dillilo who revealed that the next Giulietta would be based on a "shortened version of the Giulia’s platform”. After some leaked photos made their way on the internet yesterday, Alfa Romeo introduced the Giulia at the company's museum today. The design looks to be a fusing of the 8C supercar and the 159 sedan. Alfa says the Giulia is around the “technical architecture” of the car. An example of this is the short overhangs as the engine and other parts being mounted between the front and rear axles. Tomorrow, Alfa Romeo will be showing the long awaited Giulia sedan. But the folks at CarScoops got their hands on two pictures before the debut. The pictures show the model using a number of cues from other Alfa models such as the trunk lid and taillights.
