For some reason this afternoon, if I click on the 'Go to this post' button in an email notification from the forum in Gmail on Safari, it just opens a new tab on the Google site rather than the specific post in the forum. Works fine on Chrome. Weird...I haven't changed any settings on my Mac.

seems that once and a while if i have more than 1 tab of this site up it'll give me a "500 internal server error" after about a minute of "doing nothing" as in after i click a link. not sure if it's my isp, at&t dsl, or if it's the server being down or busy...? any help why this could be happening?

I'd guess the 2008 Buick Enclave . It certainly is one of GM's most anticipated products of that model year, and many would like to see the interior of the production vehicle. I suppose I could compare the shown image to the uncovered vehicle at the car shows, but I'll skip that. Buick Enclave! * If so, Flybrian, remember to spell it E-n-c-l-a-v-e . P.S. - If I'm wrong, it'd be the first time... in the last five minutes. Guess I've run out of smilies . [ EDIT ] They should have covered up those rims .

2 brands on move; 2 on hold Subaru is new darling; Mazda adds to lineup; questions dog Mitsubishi, Suzuki Ryan Beene Automotive News -- September 6, 2010 - 12:01 am ET High-flying Subaru has been outperforming the U.S. market for the past two years. But overall, Japan's smaller carmakers have had a tough time in the United States for much of the past decade. Getting the right products at the right time has been a struggle. Mazda and Subaru have been filling out their product lines, but at Mitsubishi and Suzuki, there seem to be more questions than answers. The Forester and Outback have led the charge for Subaru. Now the Japanese brand plans to add in late 2011 or…

it's completely underwhelming compared to the CTS Coupe... Officially Official: 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLC Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2008 CLC-Class, the Euro-market successor to the now-defunct C-Class Sports Coupe. Well, we should clarify that. It's not completely defunct in that its architecture has been carried over for the new car, meaning the CLC does not share underpinnings with the new-gen C-Class. Still, Mercedes boasts that the car features 1,100 "newly-developed or enhanced" components, including the direct steering system introduced on the freshened SLK. The changes are intended to give the car a different feel than its predecessor. At fi…

I promise, this will be the last spamming from me posting of all that spy shot craps. Yet another old news I digged from the net. This one is from Audi. The 2011 A7. http://blog.pixnet.net/jackieyang/post/9376358 The site is the Chinese site, but the article is in English so you can read about it. I just wanted to share them. I thought these were just too good the news to be just posted on my site only. Though they are old. I will be keep on hunting for the spy shots, but unless I get a go to post them here, this will be the last time I flood this site with all these pointless spy shot junks. Enjoy.

2011 MAHINDRA APPALACHIAN SEPTEMBER 22ND, 2009MARCH 12TH, 2009 By Mark Kleis Proving to be the longest lasting, most unpredictable rumor in the auto industry – handily ousting the Amarok flip-flop for top honors – Mahindra has yet again hit a major snag in its seemingly doomed quest to come to the U.S. It was only one week ago that Leftlane reported on the passing of the EPA emissions testing for the Mahindra truck, seemingly clearing the way for the small diesel-powered pickup to come stateside. But what we (and apparently all but a single Indian media outlet – Frontier India) missed was a small disclaimer on Mahindra’s media site that said the agreement between Mahi…

AW Press drew a laugh with a recommendation he offered for anyone depressed about the current state of affairs in the industry. "Do me a favor and visit the maternity ward of any hospital," he said. "Every one of those little blue and pink baskets represents 14 or 15 purchase cycles." - Toyota is benefiting from what he termed a tailwind. But Press pointed out that the industry is cyclical, and Toyota's fortunes could decline, too. "We have no interest in GM declining. We have no interest in becoming number one," he said. "GM is a global icon. They support the economy, and they represent the strength of the industry. There is no joy in the difficulties they're having…

2005 has been a turbulant year in so many respects. For most of us, we spent the past twelve months seeing continued war in the Middle East, unfathomable natural disasters, and stratospheric gas prices. We've also seen the automaker we care and admire face difficulties of its own with the postponing or cancellation of several models and the sword of Damocles that is bankruptcy. The forums we call home have probably been up-and-running about 80% of the past year. And a few among us have even lost cars, jobs, or worse. I've felt a general malaise around here now and then, often evidenced by our conduct towards our fellow members. In light of that, I'd like to…

As most of you may have noticed, none of you have yet received your promised prizes for winning competitions. Please know you haven't been forgotten about. Our C&G account is very low because of recent purchases of spy photography as well as the big down payment we had to put down for two years of hosting. Because of this, I'm pretty much paying for these prizes out of my pocket. The prizes are - as somewhat stated - going to be small trinkets, things like keychains, toy diecasts, etc. Nothing like an actual car or something grandiose, but a little relevant prize nonetheless that we hope you'll appreciate. Rest assured again that winners will receive prizes! Just g…

a "readers corner" , so there is a place to leave a review on any good books anyone reads... hehe it can be out own "book club" hahahah but the idea is tell what book it is and maybe a decent couple of paragraphs including why you wanted to read it, what it was about, and a critique of it. it would include any genre, fiction and nonfiction. just an idea.

Maybe instead of displaying just the most recently updated topic in each thread on the main forum page, how about the most recent two or three. I'm sure that many topics actually get missed for this reason. It has happened to me many times, where I don't see a topic until much after it was started. I know this will take up much more room, but there's got to be some way to make it work. Just a suggestion, i dunno I'm just lazy i guess.

A tale of two lost automakers in search of their mojo. By Peter M. De Lorenzo (Posted 10/12, 12:00 p.m.) Detroit. No, I’m not going to write about the Chevrolet Volt this week in this column, although I do have a mini-rant in this week’s “On the Table” if you just have to read more about it. I’d rather talk about two Japanese car industry stalwarts – Toyota and Honda – and where they’ve been, where they are now and where they need to go given increasingly stiff competition from Ford and the Hyundai-KIA group, etc. Five years ago you could pretty much predict the tone of any article mentioning either Toyota or Honda, the two most successful Asian automakers of their tim…

We enjoy posting Craigslist and eBay finds quite often on C&G, yet there is no dedicated place to post them. They simply get lumped into the lounge, and often get lost. I was wondering if it might be a good idea to have a dedicated section just for these sorts of posts. Something like For Sale Finds or something with a better title than that. Just a thought.

Two questions for the community - 1. Would you like/not mind/dislike/hate an an article stream where I posted coupon codes and other automotive related deals? These would be targeted specials and C&G would get a kickback if you used the coupon code. Those of you who are premium subscribers would still see the deals even though you are exempted from other advertising. 2. How would you feel about me installing an AdBlock detector? I know many of you use Adblock, as does an increasing amount of our guest traffic. Our falling ad revenues reflect that (whitelist us maybe? I don't run intrusive ads). If ads do bother you a lot, would you consider purchasing a…

Well, it seems that I was deleted from the forums. When I came to log in just a few minutes ago, it said the forums "couldn't find anyone with my log-in details." So I tried logging in once more, and still the same screen. So then I was like, well, I bet if I re-register my screen name, password, and e-mail, I'll get another error message saying all of those details have already been taken. So I did just that, re-registered all of my information. Then I get a screen saying that my validation e-mail has been sent. All of this happening after I just got over 5,000 posts.

Am I the only that experiences problems? It seems every once in a while the C&G server becomes extremely slow and eventually a DNS error page thing pops up. It's been happening for a while now, but today has been terrible. I've been able to get about 20 minutes or so on the site since I first got on at 2:40. I notice everytime I get on, the member list is extremely low, like during the late night hours so I can't be the only having these... right? Regardless, it's extremely annoying and it's pissing me off. If it's my PC... something will be done. If it's C&G, I'll be a bit happier, but I hope it ends.

Its unfortunate that I have the need to post another message like this to everyone, and because I really don't have the desire to remind some of our legacy members of this simple fact, I'll keep it succinct. When someone chooses to share information, you DO NOT have to agree, but you MUST afford them respect. I'm sure I'm not the only one tired of seeing someone being called out simply because they don't use a "proper" disclaimer, like 'this may not be true' or 'don't take it as fact.' Another simple reality is that certain members of this board do know more than the average bystander about happenings inside the industry. If you do not agree with their posts, that's fin…

I've noticed an unusual situation going on. There's massive amount (and I do mean massive) of advertising for the Japanese brands going on for some reason on radio. Why I say unusual, because even the dealers that aren't usually advertising, are doing so now. It's like on the radio usually it's the same 2-3 dealers, but this morning I've heard 5 different dealers advertising in a row already. They're all claiming they're offering at least $4-5000 off the new 2008 Hondas and Toyotas, with 0.9% finance rate (Usually this is up at least 3.9% with the other import brands) plus GST rebate, and even up to $7000 on 2007s. Mazda seems worse, they're offering $9000 on some new 200…

2008 BMW M3 Coupe being marked up to $100,000 Link to AutoBlog We've been getting reports from all over that the 2008 BMW M3 Coupe has begun to arrive in U.S. dealerships. Dealers, however, have also begun taking advantage of the high interest in these Bavarian über coupes by marking up the price. Since we couldn't just take everyone's word for the extreme mark ups, we had to wait until someone surfaced with proof, which came today. Dragtimes.com is hosting an image of a brand spanking new M3 sitting in an unidentified California dealer with a window sticker displaying the car's $70,720 MSRP plus a $30,000 mark up. The extra monies demanded by the dealer is labeled…

I would love to see an anti GM board somewhere on these forums. It would be interesting to read from people who had bad experiences with a GM product and won't buy a GM car anymore. They are out there. Sometimes someone is ticked off about a GM product and need a place to vent. GM needs to be aware of reasons why some people won't buy their products given that the company once had 50 percent of the market share two and one half decades ago. Anyone else interested in an ex-Gm, anti-GM, GM vent board??

Asians Go Green in Paris By Christie Schweinsberg WardsAuto.com, Sep 30, 2010 4:52 PM Asian auto makers’ Paris debuts have a decidedly green hue. Almost all Japanese or Korean manufacturers are rolling out hybrid- or battery-electric vehicles at the Paris auto show, which opened to the media today. The eco-friendly models include the production Toyota Auris HEV, Honda Jazz HEV, European-spec Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric vehicle and the concept Kia Pop and Nissan Townpod EVs. Asians oversell horsepower Toyota, Honda inflated claims of engine muscle; new tests force automakers to come clean with buyers. Audi, Mercedes forge ahead in China September 6, 2010 06:01 CET Print Email Reprints FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- Audi and Mercedes-Benz racked up more eye-popping sales in China in August, tapping into a rich vein of growth as living standards rise in the world's most populous nation. Audi said its China sales jumped by two-thirds to 22,350 units, bringing the total for the past eight months to nearly 152,800, a year-to-date gain of 63 percent. This puts China on track to eclipse Germany as Audi's single-largest market as domestic new-vehicle registrations amounted to 144,365 units through August, according to official data. I clearly have been away too long and the inmates have been running the asylum. I have absolutely had it with the bickering on this site about political crap and bigotry. My tolerance for such bull crap is down to 2% and the battery light is flashing. I am -->this close<-- to pulling the plug on the whole site because of all of the people who bring non-car dramatic crap onto my car website and can't even show an ounce of human decency towards each other and other human beings. Talk about cars.... that's it! I am watching. To anyone who would bring political or bigoted crap to my website, I have a message from the Romulans for you...

What happened to the balloon boy thread? I was going to post an update in it, about how his parents dragged him onto news shows today while he was sick, and he vomited on camera twice. But I can't find the thread, and search didn't turn up anything.

We have a lot of new members lately, but a large number of the new members know each other from another site. That said, I want to remind everyone both old and new about the etiquette around here. Try to leave the baggage of the old site on the old site. We're here to discuss and argue about cars.... that is the whole point of the site. Different people have different ideas of cars. Different people have different opinions of cars. Different people have favorite brands. We also tend to be very fact based here. Back up your arguments with links and references. We have a large archive of sales data at your disposal to make your point. Feel free to attack i…

Behold, The PhUV - Philippine Utility Vehicle MANILA, Philippines — Feast your eyes on the Philippine Utility Vehicle, or PhUV, the latest attempt from this island country's government to create a national car. To be priced at around $7,500, it is cheap, but is it any good? The Philippines is a very small market, and most people can't afford a new car. There are several businesses in the country, especially around the city of Cebu, that specialize in converting used Japanese vans into pickup trucks. Public transportation is partly handled by jeepneys, minibus-like contraptions with fiberglass bodies. Seven-seat closed light commercial vehicles are popular here and all…

Kurylko Automotive News Europe -- October 4, 2010 06:01 CET PARIS -- BMW and Mercedes-Benz will bring to the United States several vehicles based on platforms smaller than what they currently sell there. BMW, Mercedes to shorten Christmas breaks as sales rebound BMW's production shutdown at its Dingolfing plant (shown) will be as short as possible to keep up with demand for its 7-, 6- and 5-series models. November 23, 2010 06:01 CET BERLIN (Bloomberg) -- BMW AG and Mercedes-Benz will shorten Christmas breaks at their factories because of surging demand for new models. BMW, Mercedes, Audi weigh tiniest models for U.S. 08:31 AM CAPTIONBy Virginia Mayo, AP Germany's famous luxury automakers are thinking the unthinkable -- bringing their smallest cars to the U.S. Audi, for instance, is weighing whether to bring its next-generation A1 compact car to America. BMW and Mercedes-Benz are also taking a close look at the market. German automakers have always hesitated in the past out of fear that their smallest cars would dilute their image as makers of the wor'd finest cars. But the Obama's new fuel economy standards have them over a barrel. They need smaller cars to offset the bigger, less fuel-effienct ones they plan to sell. "Consumers …

Brazil's boom is good news for Fiat and VW October 12, 2010 - 11:30 pm ET The unthinkable has finally happened. Brazil has overtaken Germany as the fourth-largest market for passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales. That's good news for Fiat, Volkswagen and other European volume carmakers. Fiat and VW have dominated the Brazilian auto market for decades. Their rivals Renault and PSA/Peugeot-Citroen have big growth plans for South America and Brazil, the region's biggest market. Let's take a look at the numbers: In the first eight months, Brazilian car and LCV sales grew 8.4 percent to 2.08 million while Germany fell 27.3 percent to 2.03 million, according to m…

With the changing of the guard, so to speak, YellowJacket and myself, who are now in charge of the design competition section of C&G have some changes we'd like to announce. Change #1 Fo the time being we are going to have the sketch and chopping competitions linked togther. By this we mean that they will share a common objective, as opposed to different ones. For example: Both compeitions will focus on designing a new car for flagship model for Buick. This way things will, ideally be more simple for us, and give designers who want to participate but aren't choppers, the ability to sketch their design out, and vise versa. This will begin with the next competitio…

Hey, guys. To address the recent and growing problems with our server, C&Gs host provider is going to be moving the forum to a better, more reliable server on Friday, November 24th. Scheduled downtime is approx 1 hour, which will occur between approx 5:00PM Friday and 3:00AM Saturday. This will hopefully cure what has been ailing us. In the meantime, I and all the other moderators (except Ven) truly appreciate your patience and loyalty while we work to improve our connection issues. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving! -Brian

I've noticed that every once in a while when I visit, C&G will fail to load and give me an error message. It's been happening more frequently over the last week. It usually takes a while for it to start working again. Just thought I'd give a heads up and see if anyone else has been having this issue.

Do you even know we have a C&G Store? If not, check it out! C&G Company Store C&G CafePress Store Would anyone be interest in purchasing products such as... Calendar featuring members' cars - photographs would be selected by voting; those who win would be included in the calendar. Design Showcase merchandise - T-shirts, mousepads, and other items featuring sketches and 'chops from our Design Showcase. Here's an example... This particular shirt retails for $11.49. Remember, all profits go directly to supporting C&G and its activities (site upgrades, purchasing spyshots for your viewing, etc). Any suggestions or comments on this at all?

Trying to get a gauge on how many people are planning to come to teh NAIAS and if a C&G meet could be put together for either the days leading up to the official show, during the show or the last few days of the show. I'll be there quite a few times as usual sporting my C&G T. I'd like to get a formal meet together if we could.

This year promises to be a fantastic show, and C&G will be there to witness it all. What can you expect to see? I don't want to reveal my full hand just yet, but here is some of it: World debuts of production and/or concept cars from Pontiac and Saab A fashion show highlighting the unveiling of the new Saab "BioPower" clothing line A luncheon with Buick designers, featuring a live sketch of its latest concept Interviews with various GM designers, engineers, and executives, including none other than Bob Lutz Interv…

C&G would like to welcome Oldsmoboi and WildManJoe as Staff Members. We have nominated them to the Editor/Reporter position. We thought that the site could use some help so we decided adding some editors was a good idea. We hope that the improved C&G Staff will be able to serve the membership better and make C&G a better place to find automotive news and rumors. Congrats to Oldsmoboi and WMJ for their nominations!
