::WARNING!! NOT 56K FRIENDLY (SORRY BV):: This afternoon I took out the Buick once more to get some daytime photos...dust really...it was horribly hot and humid today...so it was the best time to not bake. As I mentioned before, the car's really temperamental on cold starts. I had it pulled into the driveway, so I started it and backed out...then it stalled on me while I was crooked and facing up on the hill...probably a funny sight for the couple cars that went by. Basically it took about 10 minutes of sitting there with my foot gently on the gas to warm her up. Once she was warmed up she was fine...probably needs a carburetor rebuild or at least a good tune. I also …

The last brand new GM vehicle my parents ever bought in Blue metallic was a 1993 Oldsmobile Achieva. My dad wanted a Grand Am but I thought the Achieva had a really nice interior and was more comfortable for all our super-long road trips we used to take as a family. Even thought I was only 14 I pretty much was allowed to pick the car we'd buy since I had my head burried in car magazines 24/7. I thought Quad4 was a redundant name and years later I grew to hate it for it's lack of power. The SOHC 115HP Quad4 pretty much sucked, even new. Never any usable torque. Anyway my parents had been talking about the posibility of trading their 1997 Grand Am in on a new car in the pa…

So our 1986 Fleetwood Brougham was sold on Thursday night at 8:00pm. A guy who lives about 1.5 miles away took for a testdrive, gave me a few $100s & $20s and shook my hand as I gave him the keys. Shortly after my wife Julie & myself were in the back of the Banana Boat (the famous Tight Whips yellow '77 Coupe deVille) on our way to South Boston. XP and his g/f gave us a ride down so we could pick up Julie's new hoopty. The car in question was on craigslist for several weeks, no photos in typical fashion. It was located close to University of Massachusetts, right by the famous JFK Library, in So. Boston off Rt. 93. 1982 Mercedes Benz 240 D, four door s…

Not to be outdone by BV's Jetta... It gives me great pride to present my 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva (after a loooong ass search)! Bought yesterday for an as-is price of $850 CAD. Its a 3.1 V6, has power everything, including keyless entry. It has 170,570 Kilometers (105,992 miles). I am her 3rd owner. The first owners were an elderly couple, and had the car untill 2006. The person who sold it to me used it for short trips to work. Since Oct '07, he only drove about 7000 K (4349 miles). It is in pretty good shape, and appears to have been undersprayed (by the first owners). It has some common Achieva problems. The drivers side power window doesn't work, or works in…

Finally got around to dropping the fuel tank in my dad's old Dodge. Per Murphey's law, it was chock full of gas and took forever to drain, but the job is done and the tank out. Along the way I discovered what was causing the car to stall and not restart. Although we suspected that crud in the tank ws causing the problem, the actual cause was a bit of a surprise. Yes, there was a fair amount of sediment in the gas - but the real problem became obvious as I poured the last of the fuel from the tank. An approximately 2"inch square chunk of an old leaf flowed out of the filler neck as I tipped it up! That'll stop the fuel delivery in a hurry. So next will be having the tank…

Still working, little by little, and dollar by dollar, to update and upgrade my near perfect '95 Caddy Fleetwood as time goes by. It wasn't even really in "the budget" (but then again, what is?!), but I had been going back and fourth for a few months on new wheel & tire options. There was NOTHING wrong with the OEM wheels and Michelins it had, but the look could stand to ratchet up a bit. Thought aftermarket, thought chrome stocks, and just kept coming back to the OEM Impala SS wheels. A very popular upgrade choice for a lot of B & D bodies, since they're 1) GM OEM, 2) perfect offset and fitment, and 3) look great. So, doing my usual net surfing, found an ad …

Well I just picked it up, and all I can say is OOOOOOO MY GOD!! Now I know what I have been missing all my life, a LS1!! I couldn't keep it on the streets for too long, because it doesn't have a plate or insurance, but this thing is awesome. The exhaust sounds better then I could have imagined. I didn't even use the radio, the sweet exhaust note kept me wanting more. Sooooo, without further delays, the pics...... http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/schuby87/

Finally took the time to take some decent pictures... This is my project car, a 1999 Saturn SC2. I purchased it back in Indiana for $1,000 with a bad automatic transmission that wouldn't shift into reverse. Fortunately, it was able to drive itself home, though by the time I turned into my neighborhood, it would no longer upshift. First gear got it into the garage, where I tinkered on it here & there for the winter. I purchased a number of goodies for it, but the only thing currently done to it is a manual transmission swap with short shifter, and aftermarket wheels. The manual tranny swap probably ran about $500 once all was said & done. I dismantled th…

Here's our 1973 Monte Carlo. My father inherited it from my grandfather when he passed away. It's been in the family since new. It's chocolate brown with a tan vinyl inside. And it's got a 454 with 84K original miles. The body and paint are still in great shape, but it needs a little work to be roadworthy. Most of that we did this weekend - fabricating new brake lines and changing out the carburetor. All it needs is a set of tires and valid NYS plates and she'll be on the road again. And in case you guys didn't realize that I'm an Italian from New York, check out the clear plastic seat covers:

I'll explain what I mean by "homecoming." Never did I think I'd drive my car across the international border between the stare of New York and province of Ontario, with a destination of Toronto. I was a little on edge, given that Toronto has grown so much since I last drove in it. I knew my way around Vancouver fairly well, even with the growth. I wonder if border agents have heard the explanation that, in addition to visiting Toronto, someone wanted to take their car to "see" its "birthplace." Well, being in Toronto means being a little more than 30 minutes from Oshawa, the lauded GM plant at which my car was built. In addition to seeing Toronto, I thought I'd …

Well, many of you know the vehicles my family owns: 2007 Buick Rendezvous 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix 1990 Chevy Cavalier Coupe Well, we mainly have the Cavalier for insurance and "oh $h!" purposes. However, in order to get it running smoothly in an "oh $h!" instance, we'd have to spend a few hundred on a new door or two, battery, and radiator at the very least. So, seeing that we haven't started it in a few months, and haven't run it in over a year, we're finally getting rid of it. It will be a donation, and a sad one to see go since I've grown up with that car. Also, the Grand Prix will have seen its days with …

I've been holding off on showing it, but what the hell, we're using it now so here we go. It's a 1990 Chrysler Town and Country. This was a gift to my mom for Christmas from a family friend's father. My mom's friend's husband's father to be exact. Not confusing at all! Anyway, he's an older gentleman, in his 70's or so. The story goes that he was driving down the middle of the road an apparently hit something, or multiple things...I have no idea what. As it turns out the police found out and followed him all the way home without him even realizing it. When he got home and got out the police (3 cars BTW) asked him to hand over his license. So he lost his license, it was…

Okay... so rememebr how my buddy Sean owed me like $2600+ from our crazy roadtrip to No. Carolina when I sold his 1969 Camaro on eBay? Sept. 2005 Well, I finally tracked down that guy after gettig blown off for a few months. Long story short he's hurting for money and so I decided to take a vehicle of his as partial payment. I was really hoping he'd give me his 1986 Mercedes Benz 560SEC. It's a true pillarless hardtop! Well that did not happen. *DAMN* But I did get a scummy death-trap of a truck. It's a 1988 Chevy Blazer Silverado that's been riden hard and put away wet. I've had some rusted out, squeaky, dented & Carbon-monoxide spewing POS beaters in my day bu…

Guess how much I paid....? . . . . . . . . It's a 1995 chevy 'Burb 1500 LT 4x4, on the floor transfer case lever, and MOST importantly, it has BARN doors. I'm 100% with XP on that, just as ALL Camaros and post 1949 Cadillacs should have hardtop greenhouses & NOT B-pillars w/ glued in fixed windows like some garbage-pile Japanese economy cars, real Chevy/GMC Trucks should have barn-doors, not lift-gates like a Honda Civic. Oh, the truck has 184,700 miles on it. Sooooo, guess how much I paid?

As most of you know, I'm preparing to put my '95 two-door Tahoe up for sale. I've been steadily knocking little nitpicky things about it off of my list. Today I ordered some clips to properly re-mount the door panels I've had off, and also priced out the parts to make the door hinges right again. I've already rebuilt the top end of the engine, replace the radiator, the front calipers, the power steering pump, and lots of other stuff. In addition, I located and installed new GM front seats, and a stock stereo system that had been on a shelf since nearly new. The exhaust system is new from front to back (including the Cat, O2 sensor, and exhaust manifold gaskets. I've…

Two Gay Indians, One Big Fight And I End up with a little Red Riding Hood!!! The little Red Riding Hood! As many of you know I posed a question about which car to choose from the two wholly different animals – 2009 Chevy Cobalt New and 2005 BMW 330i Used, I promised to follow up with the results. Although, I asked the question two months too late, the answers you gave me did not make me feel regretful for having made the decision. Well I feel like a big loser for still not posting my 1959 Buick LeSabre two-door post sedan, or the "Banana Boat" 1977 Cadillac Coupe deVille in this sub-forum. Both of these old GMs are, in different ways, project cars of mine. The Buick was used as a daily driver for 7000 miles last summer, and is now receiving some over-due TLC. The 49 year old 364 cubic inch V8 is half appart. The Banana on the other hand is my current daily driver, a 4500lbs. "coupe" powered by a seven liter pushrod Cadillac block. 13 mpg is about all I'm getting since I drive it like I stole it. Not very condusive to $4.15/ gallon gasoline prices, esp. since I driv…

My two year love affair with Datsun... . . . . . . . ...is very much over. I'd like to introduce to you the newest member of Tight Whip$: The "Bannana Milkshake" 1977 Cadillac Coupe deVille 425 cubic inches of raw torque, 7 miles of white leater & that special Cadillac feel. This afternoon at 3:00pm I sold my Datsun and then travelled down with Sofia in the B-59 to visit my College Friends in the south-east part of the state. Sofia had a blast with Jim's daugher Chloe & I showed off my '59 Buick to the crazy nut who got me hooked on them to begin with, first time seeing him in two years. He is visiting from Arizona. So I've been talking about buying a 1959 Buick of some sort for a couple months now. I'm dead set on doing it as soon as the Camaro goes off to a good home and as of last week I've made the first step towards completing this mission. I'm now the owner of 0.03% of a 1959 Buick. I bought a '59 Massachusetts License Plate from a classic car junkyard the other day. Set me back a cool $3.00 too. I was walking along with my buddy Ross and I glance at a 1950 Ford and notice a "59 MASS" plate on the back of it. It only took me about 20 minutes to get the damn thing off the back of the car since it was rusted on like a porthole on the Titanic. Now all I need is to bu…

As someone who's lucky enough to get to drive lots of vehicles for brief periods, I recently had one of the above for 2 weeks and 1000 miles. Pros: Great engine (too bad its' dissappearing), fun slot car feel, everything you touch regularly feels special, who could hate suede??. Cons: Very little interior space, Black hole atmosphere inside, really hard plain black plastic--over the entire interior--- Averaged about 22 MPG in 50.50 city/hwy mix Overall: 8/10

Interesting story in itself is that instead of them taking the car to the dealership, the dealership sent some guys out with a manual transmission and dropped the auto out and put the manual in the car in my great aunt and uncles drive way. Hey everybody, as many of you know I haven't been online in quite a long time as life sometimes takes its toll. I have now gotten rid of my T-Type, car was rotted so I kept all specific T-Type parts. Now last October, the Intake Manifold gasket went on my 88 Reatta and the car spun a main bearing. Perfect opportunity for my Supercharged swap. The donor motor is from a 95 Bonneville SSEi and the motor had 143k kms on it, I stripped it down to freshen the motor up either way but the lower mileage was a bonus. The supercharger was a rebuilt with maybe 30k kms on it and it is perfect. I have been slowly chipping away at this project since January and finally the motor/transmi…

Well it has been a really long time since I have posted anything regarding my Reatta in a long while. Well I was going to drive my Reatta down to Carlisle but my grandmother had to have surgery and I had a Reatta club meeting event in Niagara Falls that Sunday so my weekend was full. I am getting the car ready now for an all-Buick show in Cheektowaga, NY at the end of July. Anyways, the car has been repainted and the body work has been done nicely. I got a few interior items fixed too like the console cover, removed the ugly purple rear window tint someone had put on and so on. Anyways, here are some various pictures from weeks past. The car has only been out of the paint…

Yesterday afternoon I placed a deposit on this fine piece of "British craftsmanship". It's an auto, but as it was only CAD$5200, and has only got 115,000 km on it, I wasn't going to pass it up just because it had a slushy transmission. For a 20 year old it's in damn fine condition (a plate on the console says it was a concours event entrant in 2002), but it currently needs a bit of a tidy up and a good polish. It's hard to tell under the road grime, but it appears to be a charcoal gray metallic, and the interior is gray leather. It's got a few minor problems ... the glass in the passenger rear view mirror is loose and needs to be re-glued, the handbrake light…

My friend recently acquired a 1991 Camaro 1LE from his dad and he is trying to restore it back to factory specs now. The 383 currently in it will be removed and sold off while the original 305 will be dropped back in. However, the 305 needs rebuilding and apparently the 1LE (performance package) motors were tuned differently and sealed differently in Van Nuys. Anyways, the R7U was a special code for 32 Camaro 1LEs that year to be converted slightly to racing spec to compete in the Canadian Player's Challenge Series. I am trying to find out any other information for him as he wants to put the roll cage back in it, needs the side exhaust of the R7Us again, and he plans to g…

It took me 10 months from when I bought it at the end of November to when I got it inspected at the start of this month. There was alot of down time in between the work I did. Total working time was about a month. Started out as a $500 purchase... I've spent of total of roughly $2,000. To be honest, $400 of that was lost to a scam unfortunately, and then another $400 can be accounted for with parts I bought and decided not to use. 1998 Suburban LS K1500 (K = 4WD) Very nice shape -power windows -power locks -roof rack -3rd row seat -5.7L V8 (gasoline) -"barn door" rear doors I was surprised when I started looking at Suburbans at just how comfortable both seats of rear seats are. I could see myself being comfortable in any seating position for a long trip. We bought it because we recently moved to Idaho, and our Saturn coupes just aren't made to get along with hard packed dirt mountain roads. So, we have our Saturns for good fuel economy daily drivers, and the Suburban for hauling people (friends here, or friends & family that come to visit) and for rough-roading adventures. Plus we …

It is with a heavy heart that we must bid farewell to the Grand Marquis. She's been a good car these years, but NE winters have taken their toll and the frame is rotted beyond repair. So what's replacing it? Well I was looking for something inexpensive, and that I'm familiar with, so ideally it was to be another Panther Car, a Corolla/Prizm, or an LH. Pickings were slim, but I had a lead on a Prizm. The price was right, but the seller only responded once then dropped off the face of the earth. The next day an Intrepid 2.7 popped up for $500. Seller said it belonged to his father, it had the front struts and tie rods replaced last year, new radiator, T-stat housing, new …

Here are the better pictures I promised. I will be adding some more later with interior shots, but both times I have taken the photos it has been too dark to do interiors. For those that haven't seen the other thread, it's a 2001 Lincoln LS V8. 79,500 miles, leather, traction control, memory seating, dual front and side airbags, automatic climate control, folding rear seats, etc. The exterior is Titanium Sliver and the interior is a trio of dark gray, light gray, and walnut burl wood accents (although the only "real" walnut is on the steering wheel and shifter). Mechanically, a unique thing is that the LS from 2000 to 2002 has a hydraulic cooling fan rather than an …

I'll be starting a total frameoff restoration/rebuild/modification of my wife's 2002 GMC Yukon in the next couple weeks. I will chronicle the job here. Will post before pics soon. The plan is, take it down to the frame, sandblast and powercoat the frame and most things attached to it. Add an air locker to the rear end, lift it about 2inches. Modify it to use a stick transfer case instead of the push button setup it has, lockouts on the front wheels. Repaint it from white to purple, rebuild trans to handle larger tires, rebuild engine to about 350hp. Interior mostly stock but recover the seats and new carpet

I apparently don't have a thread for my old workhorse. I bought this beast in June of '06, and it already had 46,000 miles on it. Private sale, wholesale value. 6.6L Duramax TD, Allison 5-spd auto, 3.73 rear, crew cab/6.5' bed, 4x4... it was about a $39K truck new. It was my only driver, and I worked out of it daily. I pulled the rear seat and built a giant 'carpenter's box' in that space. I've never opened the motor/trans/rear. It currently has 205,750 miles, still runs great. The only recall was for a rear center seat anchor for a carseat. I didn't bother. Repairs along the way have been: front bearing hubs (twice), brake lines, fuel lines, an…

We just acquired a 2005 BMW 325xi sedan with the purposes of turning it into a show car. We intend to feature all of the interior and exterior accessories we carry on it and we will be posting before, during and after photos of the entire makeover. We will also be making videos of each and posting them to our YouTube channel and our site. The project is expected to take between 6 months to a year to complete but so far the we have planned the following modifications and upgrades: - A complete Duraflex body kit (Retails for $1135.87): http://www.rvinyl.com/2005-BMW-325xi-Body-Kits/!/ED-106516.html -Compete vehicle wrap: We haven't decided between Matte Black or …

Today I drove my grandpa's 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis he bought last summer. It's an LS Ultimate, which is the top of the line model. It's fully loaded with heated front seats, side airbags, standard wood trim and leather surfaces, power adjustable pedals, power moonroof....all the bells and whistles. *Note: Not the actual car, but exactly like it Inside, the dash may be a little dated looking compared to what's available today, but the materials and fit-and-finish were all pretty high quality. I really didn't find any hard plastics anywhere besides on the seat backs. The door handles all felt firm and solid and the doors closed with a nice thud. The wo…

So... I was originally searching for a Grand Prix GTP Comp-G, as some of you may know. I had my preferred dealership looking for one, but it had been a few weeks. I decided to check in to see how the search was going. Upon pulling in, this red car catches the corner of my eye. It's sitting in the far lot and looks to be new. "Is that a... Legacy? Oh... I think it is. Wait... *catches sight of a hood scoop* Thats a GT!" Closer inspection reveals it is, indeed, a 2.5GT and it is fresh off the truck with the auction stickers still displayed. "This just might do." After some talks confirmed that they still haven't found my car of choice, I automatically ask about the Legacy. …

Yep, I finally got it. Here are the details: It had the Red Tag to mark down the sticker price to $18,726. I bought it under the 72 month time period for the 6.9% financing. I put $3000 down and have a $308 monthly payment. The car had 45 miles on it, then I took a test drive (this is the second time I've looked at this same car). When I picked her up today she had 50 miles on her. It's Rally Yellow with Ebony leather interior. I wanted the yellow interior also, but for the price I couldn't complain. Maybe one day I'll find some yellow suede and fill 'em in. It's got a sunroof and XM radio on it. I'm pretty sure that's all the options, but all I really wanted was a sun…

I purchased her this New 2007 Cadillac SRX Sport AWD. Usually I just grab vehicles off the lot and let her drive them, but if they sell, they sell. Thats why I decided to purchase this time. 2007 Cadillac SRX Sport AWD: • 320 HP 4.6L Northstar V8 VVT • 6 Speed Automatic Transmission • 20" Chrome Wheels • Xenon HID Headlights • Ultraview Sunroof • SRX Sport Appearance Package Pictures:

I spent a good portion of Saturday afternoon & early evening and all-day yesterday to clean the entire Pontiac G6 (I even checked all the fluids and installed a new air filter). The car looks better than 'showroom' new and I got a lot of compliments from people passing by. I used my dad's driveway & garage yesterday to clean, wash, wax & detail the exterior of the G6, as my dad has a two-car gargae with one door and I have a two car garage with two doors and a wall separating them (it was easier to wax inside in the shade than in the sun at my house or my tight garage space). I didn't get to take too many pictures, but on the way home stopped by one of my …

On Tuesday, Sept. 12th of 2006, on Highway 402 just past Airport Road in Sarnia, Ontario, my Mercury's odometer rolled past 200,000 miles. And I caught it with my camera phone: The KPH view: When I first looked at the pictures, I thought it was a little odd that 200,000 miles would work out to such a round number in kilometers. So, I looked into it further. According to this website, 200K miles equals 321,868.80 kilometers. So, somewhere over the course of its 13 year life, my car has "lost" more than 1,800 kilometers, or more than 1,100 miles!

So after all the last few years of my harassing, and shopping, test driving, sending pictures ....my uncles let my mom know of a 2011 DTS for sale in the small town and where my parents had bought other Cadillacs before. Got a build sheet from GM and a Carfax to check it out. I could tell mom had found what she wanted . And less than 80,000 miles. I told her if she didn’t buy it today that I would. Maybe Cadillac needs to refocus on the large comfortable cars again. She got a good one, the interior is almost new condition. She wishes the dash top wasn’t so dark, I told her with used cars you get what you get. 😊

So as I posted in the "how much car can you afford?" thread, the old '95 Olds LSS hit the bucket and I had to find something. Originally I was really leaning towards the Cruze ECO. However, after driving a 2011 Camaro, I couldn't resist upgrading. It's black/black, V6/6-speed manual. Originally I thought I wanted a 1LT with a few options, but there were none within 3 hours of where I live (apparently no one wants V6/manual). So after realizing the 2LT was only about $700 more than the 1LT equipped how I would want it, I went searching for a 2LT with manual transmission. I found one about 75 miles away and contacted the local dealer about it. It was also the only 2LT/man…

Hello all, Long time no post. I still stalk but don't engage much. There's not much in the automotive world that I am much passionate about anymore - so I'm still paying attention, but not too engaged. Love to see Toyota implode but hate to see belief that Hyundai is the second coming. I've buried myself in history and politics (ugh!)... but enough about me. I just wanted to throw out a pic of my new ride - a 2011 GMC Terrain SLT2 3.0 FWD in Steel Blue Metallic. It has basically every option but AWD and Nav/monitors. I traded in my 2006 Malibu MAXX SS - which served me well and I got good $ on a trade because it only has 32,000 miles on it. Plus the GM card bump a…

Initial pictures of the new vette 2011 Grand Sport Corvette Manual Transmission Dual mode exhaust 2LT trim level It's a work in progress, going to change the headlights to a dark grey (cyber grey), and tint the windows. That chrome GS badge is also going to have to be changed. Taking it to a hpde at a road course near chicago next weekend. This car is amazing; some of GM's finest work. Zora would certainly be proud. The handling and grip is insane, certainly helped by the 325 wide rear tires. The LS3 does not disappoint.

I haven't posted on here in a long time, but thought I'd post a picture of our new 2011 VW GTI. My wife traded in her G35 earlier this month. She wanted something "fun and zippy" - of course the first thing out of my mouth was "GTI!". We test drove a 2011 Mazda Speed 3 but ultimately ended up with the VW. Also in the background is my 68 Impala (which I hate to say I really haven't been keeping up with) and the trusty 08 Vue.

Just purchased a 2011 Silverado 6.2 with the NHT Max Trailering Package last Wednesday. The truck is perfect and smooth in every way. Basically, its a '13 Titanium AWD with the 2.0L Ecoboost, pearl white with black full leather, panoramic sunroof, navigation, parking tech package, and towing package. I'm pretty certain it has every option available from the factory. The window sticker indicates it was special ordered and stickered for a hair over $38k.

On January 27, finally bit the bullet and traded off the Taurus X (which I would have loved to keep but didn't want to risk the chance of being stuck with a bad trans) and leased a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. Feel a little sick to my stomach getting a Chrysler and not a GM or Ford, but I pretty much had to go this route. In any case, this is a great trip vehicle and is quite the beast. Having a Chrysler should be interesting. (Note, I went this route even though I had a 2,000 dollar GM card top off offer waiting for me to use, what does that tell you) Was pretty picky about equipment so had to dealer trade, they had to go nearly 300 miles to find the config…

Good friend turned in his 2014 Malibu company car and got a 2020. He's impressed! Simple white LT with black cloth. Checked it out the other day and remembered many reasons why i like this current version of the Malibu so much, especially considering I had a 2016 myself. Already he's raving about the fuel economy, size, interior design, comfort. Too bad Chevy can't promote this more. I think an AWD Malibu and a more accessible price on a 2.0 turbo would help. One of Chevy's best shapes in the last 20-30 years....

Yeah,s o I got a new cell phone yesterday, since my old piece of crap was dying. It's nothing overly fancy, a Virgin Mobile Cyclops, but it has a 1.3 megapixel camera, which for the price of $30 is unbeatable...most the the prepay phones have like .3 megapixels and cost closer to $100. As I was heading to work this morning I decided to try out the camera and take a photo of my car,a nd inadvertantly got the other 2 cars in the photo too,s o besides the Merc, which is in the driveway, it's a pic of the fleet, so what the hell, I felt like sharing. You can see one of the Shadow's new doors too. I still want to get a Cannon S5 IS though

Mom just picked up her Enclave and it was parked next to my wagon here at work. I could not resist snapping a photo of them side by side. It is amazing how far cars have come in a relatively short amount of time. The sfaety, economy, comfort, convenience...it is all LIGHT YEARS ahead of what was on the roads 51 years ago! I cannot imagine what cars will be like in another 50 years! What further amazed me is the length of the two cars - it is almost a dead heat between the two of them!

Hey gang: Long time no post. I'm glad to see that a lot of the same names are still here. I was going to post an extended review of my car on its 8th birthday and didn't get around to it. So, now I'll post the update slightly after its 8.5th birthday. My 2008 LaCrosse, which I bought after a lot of vetting on this forum between it and other W-body stablemates of the same year, has been a good car. I can say that I am happy with the purchase. It now (only) has between 50,000 and 60,000 miles, largely because of using public transit or renting cars. The best feature about the LaCrosse is how it feels like a true to form Buick, with its very good build quali…
