Welcome to Choppin' Competition #52! Chevrolet came out with the sleek, supercharged Cobalt SS in 2005 and showed the world that it could compete with some of the best compact tuner cars in the world. They upped the ante in 2009 when they added a set of Brembo brakes, sport-tuned suspension, form-fitting race seats, and a turbocharged engine. This car came out of the gate and earned the title of the fastest production FWD car to lap the Nurburgring. However, the Cobalt has been replaced by the Cruze, with nothing really being mentioned of an SS variant. This is where you come in... Your task is to turn the Chevrolet Cruze into a Super Sport compact tuner with looks to…

With some of the chop results and voting not getting posted regularly, I would be more than happy to help with that in this forum. I'm on the computer a lot during the day and evenings and could close the voting forums and add up and post the results. Just thought I'd offer my time. PM me if I could do that. Thanks Buddy P

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #24! I've got a feva'...and the only cure...is more Zeta! A mere three hours after Holden debuted their next-generation VE Commodore, Statesman, and Caprice sedans, we're getting set to make them better...for the American market. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to take one of the four Holden VE sedans and Americanize it as a US General Motors product. Remember that the vehicles we're likely to see are a Pontiac, Buick, or Chevrolet, with the most likely models being Monte Carlo, Impala, G8 (Bonneville/Grand Prix replacement), GTO, Invicta (Buick sedan), or Riviera. The bodystyle you create is up to you. Size guidelines rem…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #16! Your task this time is to take any current General Motors product and alter in any fashion you'd like to make it foolish. What's foolish, you ask? Anything. An Avalanche with 10 doors...an offroad Lucerne...the Aztek. Kidding about the last one, for its not a current product. The only rules aside from 800x600 size guidelines are that it must be a 2006 or 2007 model year General Motors vehicle. The winner will recieve the prize of a GM divison keychain! Remember, the crazier the better! Good luck! Deadline is Friday, March 31st @ 11:59PM.

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #17! There's no questioning the great excitement surrounding the upcoming 2009 Impala and exactly what form it will take. Comments by GM's Chief Designer Ed Wellburn have lead many to speculate that rather than evolutionary, it will definitely be influenced by historic Impala models, specifically the 1967 model year. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to 'Chop any photo you wish into what your ideal 2009 Impala will look like. Select any image you desire for your 'chop. The only rules aside from 800x600 size guidelines are that it must have some element of historic styling. Exactly what and how much is entirely at your discret…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #18! SAAB has been largely ignored by many of us as the redheaded stepchild of the General Motors family. But with a solid customer base, international flavor, and a rich history steeped in bleeding-edge aviation technology, SAAB is poised to become a vital part of GM's luxury portfolio...if it gets new product. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to 'Chop the SAAB AeroX into the next SAAB vehicle you think SAAB needs. Ideas include the next 9-5, Kappa-based Sonnett, next 9-3, midsize crossover. Welcome to Choppin' Competition #19! We have all seen Pontiac's new G5 coupe, a Canadian market import that itself is a lightly-rebodied two-door Chevrolet Cobalt. Needless to say, many of us are disappointed at the lack of effort it seems went into this car that - aside from some minor cosmetic enhancements - doesn't appear to add any excitement to the performance division. Here's your chance to change that. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to create an appropriate Pontiac G5. Remember, this is a compact, entry-level non-sedan so keep in mind size and pricing constraints. Also, keep in mind the bodystyle will be sleek and coupelike. That is the only rule…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #28! Saturn's new midsize Aura is certainly the talk of the town. We know near-future variants include a Green Line Hybrid and likely a Red Line performance version, but what can possibly be next? Its up to you. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to modify the Saturn Aura in any manner you see fit. Show us what the GL and RL versions will look like. Rumors are that Saturn will import an Opel for their midsize wagon, so one sharing the Aura name is appropriate. Coupes, convertibles, or simply make some subtle improvements to the current sedan. Welcome to Choppin' Competition #29! We don't have Xzibit, but we do have NAWZtoo-Oh-oH-siZZle and I'm sure he can do a respectable job... This go around, we're having some fun. Some members believe having their car virtually pimped would be a neat and interesting idea, so let's get to it. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to pimp any vehicle belonging to a C&G member in any manner you see fit. For the unhip, what is the definition of 'pimp'? We're playing it fast and loose to mean 'modify in any way YOU think would look cool, regardless if anyone else finds it appealing.' Or, if you just want to go nuts and rice out an otherwise respectable car, feel…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #40! C&G Choppin' Competition hits the big 4-0 and thanks to everyone who has brought their talent onto the site to make it as great as it is! Recently, we've seen what a a graphics design student and GM can do with the rolling billboard that is the HHR panel. Now, we want to see what you can do! Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to customize your own HHR Panel. This can be anything you like - a simple graphics wrap to a full-out rolling J.C. Whitney showcase, its up to you. Remember to have fun with this, too. Silly and satirical entries are very much accepted, so let your creativity out to play. This is your blank …

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #41! Ford was first in 1957 with a solid-bodied hybrid of a car and pickup truck, but GM wasn't far behind. Two years after the Ranchero's introduction, Chevrolet responded with the Impala-based El Camino and not only did it outlive its Ford competitor, but its name has become iconic among enthusiasts of all stripes. The beloved 'Elky' ended production in 1987, but lives on today overseas as the Ute, still rear-wheel drive and based on a fullsize car platform. With word of a US market VE-based Ute possibly greenlit, the El Camino could live again. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to design a modern day El Camino or GMC Ca…

Congratulations for narrowly beating out...your own compact convertible entry! Kudos to MarioBro88 for his simple but handsome 9-1 subcompact, an ideal companion for urban driving. Welcome to Choppin' Competition #42! The Aero-X concept shown above was meant to preview a new direction for GM's Sweedish division, a vision that included dynamic, bespoke styling that enhanced SAABs appeal while remaning distinctly original. Elements of the Aero-X manifested itself in the recently-revealed 2008 9-3 line, including the more aggressive front fascia and ice-block taillamps. And while niche players have traditionally survived on one model alone, today's market demands diversification. The 9-3 reamins fairly popular, but the 9-5 and 9-7X were tepid performers at best. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to design a reinvigorating SAAB vehicl…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #43! Recently unveiled to great fanfare - and some doubt - Chevrolet's Volt is not merely another concept car. Its been made abundantly clear by everyone at General Motors that the most fanciful aspect of the automobile we saw at Detroit was the exterior sheetmetal. The guts of the Volt - its advanced E-Flex propulsion system - will be as real as can be. As opposed to coming-soon plug-in hybrids, GM considers the Volt a full electric car with range assist via a small gasoline engine. Already, GM has introduced fuel cell-powered versions around the world and has been making steps to bring a Volt to the public within a few short years. …

First-place and congratulations go to both Z28luvr and Gizhost for their top-notch entires. While Z answered the question we've all been asking - seriously, why not a -360 pickup? - Gizhost took a different approach and modernized the Trailblazer with GMT-900 styling and it looks very handsome. Thanks also to MRDETROITMETAL and Mariobro88 for their great entires. Hope to see you all (and more!) around in our next competiti…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #44! The sadness about the news that the Chevrolet Trailblazer is slated to be slowly phased out over the next few years begins with the fact that its predecessor, the Blazer, helped birth the midsize SUV market and compounded by the fact that the GMT-360 platform it rides on and Atlas I6 powertrain its powered by are still both very good. Blame substand interior materials and features, aged exterior design, and a seeming lack of interest by GM for this tragedy. But what if it were guaranteed a reprieve from the gallows if you could make a convincing styling argument for it? Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to give any GM…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #45! As what has been regarded by many as GM's finest compact in forever makes its way to our shore in the coming months, excitement is all but waning. And with a car so well-designed and seemingly well-engineered, what could be possibly be improved? How about a proper coupe? Sedan? The TwinTop? RedLine? Something completely original? That's up to you. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to Modify the Saturn ASTRA in any way you see it. A mild change, a wild change, or anything in between is find. A super-efficient Green Line or hot RedLine are some ideas. Remember that foreign market Astras have a wide variety of bodystyles…

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #46! GM and Cadillac debuted the Provoq Concept at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year and received some pretty good feedback on it. Though they called it 'Provoq,' We all know that this is the prequel to Cadillac's upcoming vehicle, the BRX, which is guaranteed to be at least slightly different than the concept. Should you take on this task, your duty is to modify the Provoq concept into anything you can imagine. Do you want to show us a more production-ready vehicle? How about chopping that roof off? Maybe you'll even drop it and put it on 22s for a more dramatic effect. Whichever you choose to do, it's…
