"There’s no doubt it’s a world-class machine at speed – and at coming down from it. Some high-performance cars can be squirrely when you stomp on the brakes at triple-digit speeds, but the Z06 stays straight as an arrow, even in mixed conditions. Only in the tightest hairpins does it object to your commands in the slightest, eventually bringing its rear end around and then catching it if you don’t. Despite the massive amount of power on tap, it’s easy to find your confidence in this car, and learn a few things along the way. That is, until you reach the end of the road. After a few lapping sessions, the engine in mine unceremoniously called it quits. There was oil, some …

Just checking out some pics posted over on GM Media. The Vectra as we know is the Chevrolet Vectra for Mexico. A few pics below, the first one I'll post is funny as it still features the Opel badge.

Anyone has an '06 Impala base with the 3.5L? How does the engine feel? I was wondering what if this engine was put into other cars, as so far only the Impala has it. And no, it's not the exact same 3500 in other cars. It has a different RPO code.

Someone brought this up on the "old" C&G......I sat in my first Impala yesterday (LTZ, silver, with ebony leather) and was shocked at the (lack of) quality of the interior materials!!!! Although the black interior looked sharp, the plastic on the dash and lower door panels is a shiny, hard plastic. In fact, the hard plastic is so shiny, it contrasts with the (actually nice) soft plastic on the dash top and tops of the door panels. WHY can't GM get it RIGHT...???? AARRGGGHHH! AND, I actually really like the Impala overall....so this really frustrates me.... Honda, Toyota, and Nissan can now show how to do hard plastics that look …

I need a Chevrolet dealer or someone else associated with the Impala ordering program to answer this question. I found an '06 Impala SS that I wanted to buy this weekend, during the zero percent financing program. It had the white exterior that I want, and the neutral leather interior with the woodgrain dash inserts, but it also had an ebony (black) dash top, steering column and steering wheel, and upper door panels. Shouldn't the neutral Impala SS interior have the slightly darker tan color on the upper dash, steering column and wheel, and tops of the door panels? I have never seen this ebony and neutral combo before; the LTZ and lower Impala models all have the …

Since the '07 Impala had no styling changes whatever from the'06, does anyone know what changes might be in store for the '08 model? Specifically: Any revisions at all to either the front end clip, or the trunk/taillight design? I could see that they might want to change the front end clip a bit, to make it more in synch with the bigger grille on the '08 Malibu. And I really wish they would so SOMETHING with the taillights; they are so non-descript so as to be almost indistinguishable from just about every new sedan (Accord, Five Hundred, Montego, G6. etc., etc.). SO..... Does anyone know what's up next for the '08 Impala???

I have no idea what colors the '09 Camaro will be offered in (besides the obvious silver, white, black, bright red), but I saw a color this morning that would be perfect--it's a modern yet retro apple green (don't know the Chevy name of the color) that I saw on a late model Avalanche. Beautiful color, IMHO that looks very much like something from the late '60s-early '70s..I think the Camaro would great in it..

I have been doing video editing for the last few years and a lot of the videos that I have done have to do with cars. My first video I ever did was a "Camaro Returns"-esque sort of thing which was originally posted on this site (I still get emails about it) and with the recent surge of attention that the new Camaro was getting, I have wanted to do another Camaro tribute video in a way that it would be like something you would see being played moments before the actual debut of the vehicle. I have been reading through the lists of song suggestions on camaroz28.com's "Intro Music" thread and I have a few ideas for a video using some of the songs list…

"SS" Won't Go On Just Anything Anymore General Motors Corp. is rethinking the way its uses the SS moniker that has adorned souped-up Chevrolets since 1961. SS -- for super sport -- has traditionally signaled performance versions of vehicles like the Camaro, Impala and most recently the Cobalt sedan. The automaker felt it was getting a bit carried away with the label after putting it on the most recent version of the Malibu midsize sedan. So now only cars with the best horsepower, braking power and handling will get the title. It's part of GM's bid to stoke sales by building exclusivity into some models, a move the automaker hopes will burnish the overall image of a …

The lease is up on my wife's '06 Dodge Caravan SXT and we're looking for replacements. One vehicle we're NOT considering is the '08 Mopar minivans. The things are butt-ugly and they're even larger & heavier than the outgoing models. Yeah, the interiors are pretty nice and they've done some remarkable stuff with ride quality and sound insulation on the new models. But unfortunately, they're now big tubby tanks and have been supersized right up & out of our league. Saw an ad for price-leader "program cars" at a local Chevy dealership so we popped in to have a look. They let us have an '07 Malibu Maxx LT for the weekend to evaluate it. The car has 15,900 miles on i…

I just got home from the new york auto show. Now I have been infatuated by the Camaro Concept since I saw it but after actually seeing the car im awestruck. There really is a difference from seeing the pictures and seeing it in person. I asked for Scott Settlemire the girl said I just missed him and he would be there tomorrow. The girl who introduced the car was real informative and even made things interesting with some comments about the car. I was speaking to her after her presentation and I said I believed the car was already being worked on and she winked at me. I know everyone knows the car is a go, but I still like the hints she and other GM people dropped at the s…

Looks like we'll be doing our part to help GM. We expect to take delivery New Years eve on an 09 Malibu 2LT. It's being brought in from another dealer as our local one (Jack Evans Chevy Cadillac) didn't have the color we wanted in stock. I commented to the sales rep that I really don't care for the alloy wheels which come standard on the 2LT V6 model. They remind me too much of the Impala SS wheels which, to me, look too truck-like. So any rate, on to my point of this post. The car which we're getting, apparently has optional wheels installed and I'm not certain from the description, which ones they are. Bloomberg news story GM Claims 100 Miles-a-Gallon Volt `Bragging Rights' (Update3) By Jeff Green Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. said it reached a preliminary agreement that clears the way for U.S. regulators to certify the Chevrolet Volt, an electric vehicle that can be recharged at home or with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine, as the first 100 mile-per-gallon car. The country's biggest automaker, whose sales of pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles collapsed this year as gasoline topped $4 a gallon, is cutting the mileage deal while urging Congress to approve $25 billion in government loans to help the industry meet new federal fuel-economy standar…

One of the cars expected at January's event is this one-of-a-kind 1963 Rondine Corvette, a car that was hand-built by renowned Italian coach builder Pininfarina for the 1963 Paris Auto Show. At the very least, impractical was PRETTY back then... watch and you'll hear GM engineers had hope for a full-electric car at least 46 years ago, but reality stepped in despite their best efforts. And this was during GM's heyday, they were the undisputed engineering leaders in the industry back then. Even today, GM leads in patent applications year after year. Some things just do not work beyond novelty. GM knows that. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YXxgatAznHU?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

With the sporty Land Rover Evoke and Mini Paceman coming onto the scene as CUV "coupes", is it possible we'll eventually see a few 2-door crossovers back on the market from the domestic manufacturers in the future? A 2-door Equinox with a more rakish roofline, sportier, larger wheels and more power underhood would be a cool specimen. I'd like to see it, because if the bad days are truly behind them, GM needs to get back to producing some sporty, fun variations on their current offerings.

Should GM reverse course on displacement reduction and put a 2.5L engine on the 2014 Cruze Eco? Is the Cruze 1.4T an improvement over past GM efforts and is it a decent engine for a well executed small car? Absolutely. This, however, doesn't change the facts that downsizing displacement and adding a turbocharger does not result in better fuel economy numbers than doing the opposite. The Cruze 1.4T is basically bottom of the pack in fuel economy and horsepower:- 2012 Cruze Eco -- 1.4L Turbo (6-spd automatic) -- 26 / 39 MPG (EPA); 138 hp / 148 lb-ft 2012 Civic HF -- 1.8L NA (5-spd automatic) -- 29 / 41 MPG (EPA); 140 hp / 128 lb-ft 2012 Focus SFE -- 2.0L NA (6-spd au…

Our one year old 2005 Tahoe has had a broken liftgate handle for over a month now -- according to the local Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer that I use for service on this car, apparently GM has been using a new, cheaper liftgate handle for the last year or so, and there are like 200 backorders around the country for this specific part. The car is still under warranty, so I'm not worried about any costs, but has anyone heard anything about this? It seems incredible to me that there would be so much trouble with such an item, as this part should not have changed since the 2000 model year... What's up here? On a sidenote, I just returned from a short family vacation in the m…

2006 Aveo The Chevrolet Aveo is a reconfigured Korean Daewoo model and the interior and exterior were designed by Italdesign of Italy. The engine is a 1.6-litre 4, producing 103 hp, from Opel. GM link: http://www.chevrolet.com/aveo/ Review: http://motortrend.com/roadtests/intellicho...005_chevy_aveo/ Introduction General Motors’s first attempt to compete on a heads-up basis with entry-level Asian econoboxes involved a partnership with Suzuki. The progeny of this corporate marriage was a little runt called the Metro, which was retired five years ago. Now, GM is trying again, only this time, it’s hooked up with a Korean rather than a Japanese manufacturer. …

I must say the changes make it look much better, even if it's still not the most attractive car ever. The new interior colors are better I think, and the chrome rings around the radio controls are a good touch. I don't much care for the steering wheel however. Exterior pics: Interior:

December 7, 2005 First Drive: 2006 Corvette Coupe Z51 Review and photos by Michael La Fave Over the years I have had the opportunity to drive a lot of Corvettes. I even sort of own one: a 1987 coupe with the mid-level Bilstein performance suspension, oil and trans coolers, shorter final drive and every conceivable luxury feature. The point of telling you about the '87 is to simultaneously divulge what might be perceived as a bias and the desire to express my fondness of the marque. Some of my favourite 'Vettes (that I've driven) are: our two-tone '87, the 330-hp, six-speed manual 1996 Collector's Edition, the 2001 Corvette Z06 and a rare, custom-built Z06 conver…

Greetings, I am Chester i am writing you today as I have a problem with my 2006 Chevrolet Impala LS. I am hoping you can help me solve my problem in a way that does not cost much money as I hate paying high prices at the mechanic when I can fix it in my garage. Recently, my automobile began making the reminder noise at random times it has now become almost a constant sound while I am driving. Usually, turning up the radio is a good enough solution for me now the noise almost never stops. The sound is like the sound when the car door is open or when you forget to fasten your safety belt. Thank you for any email back

I recently had the opportunity to pick up a light blue LS Impala from Enterprise for 4 full days to really get a feel for this revamped Chevy. To my surprise and delight this base LS model came with a trip computer and dual trip odometers so I could see what the computer said I was averaging and what the calculator said. This was again the LS model without the 2 only options of ABS and remote starter prep. My first observation upon pulling out of Enterprise and getting up to speed was how much quieter this 06 was compared to my previous 00 base model. This pleased me to see that Chevy has finally quelled some of the road noise that plagued earlier versions. This new I…

Hey all, I am looking at buying a 2006 Malibu LS 4cyl with 11000 verified KMs on the clock, for $13000.......Good Buy?? The story is that the previous owner leased it from the dealer I am buying it from (who I do trust by the way) and then got a job in Europe taht she didn't think she was going to get. She had to move and the car got returned to the dealer and she paid the penalties (the new employer actually did). Thoughts?

Link: http://www.edmunds.com/future/2007/chevrol...v..0.Chevrolet* What Edmunds.com Says: With GM quickly falling behind its competitors in the full-size truck segment, look for GM to pull out all the stops to assure that this Silverado has everything it needs to compete. What We Know: Major changes will be necessary on this stalwart design in order to keep it competitive against its longtime rival, the F-150, in addition to relative newcomers such as the Nissan Titan and next-generation Toyota Tundra. When the new Silverado appears, probably in 2007, it will feature a far more elegant cabin than the current model along with a new GMT-900 platform. A more powerful …
