Autoweek has published the first ATS full test and from what they find they feel it is world class and has what it takes to compete. I have always found Autoweeks reviews generally the most balanced and fair in the media market [not counting those here]. They have tested all three engines in the RWD model and they love the car. In all areas it is either best in class or as good. Here are some of the highlights. Interior is A4 matches build quality and is better than the # series. The ATS is lightest in class by 113 pounds and the weight loss is not due to anything that will contribute to noise or harshness. In other words Cadillac did not take the easy way out. Brakes…

Driving home today, while passing by the friendly GM dealership in my neighborhood..where they also sell Cadillacs..this song came up on the radio (Yeah..no joke impeccable timing!!!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9zzqNjt6e4 Seeing several 2015 Cadillac ATSs on the lot on a clearance sale got me thinking... 1. Does a $38 000-$43 000 CDN Cadillac car equal a Cadillac? Especially when on the same lot resides a 2016 $60 000 Chevrolet Camaro SS (same platform for phoque's sake), a 2015 $45 000 Chevrolet Impala LTZ and a 2016 38 000 Chevrolet Malibu Premier... 2. The Cadillac ATS, while a beautiful car, to me, does not convince me its a "Slick Black Cadilla…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...icleId=107890#4 I know that the official pics and info will be available at 12:01 AM Thursday, Nov. 10 but these are by far the best spy photos of the new Escalade till then. I think that it looks really hot and I'm glad that GM put some more money and effort into differentiating the Escalade from the Tahoe/Yukon. That small pic in the other Escalade thread doesn't do it any justice at all.

At an event tonight in Detroit, Cadillac delivered a one-two punch for those craving for a bit of performance with the introduction of the 2020 CT4-V and CT5-V. On paper, the two models aren't what we were expecting. Instead of the firebreathing monsters that were the ATS-V and CTS-V, the CT4 and CT5-V are more in line with middle children of German automakers - Audi S4, BMW M340i, and Mercedes-AMG C43 and E43. CT4-V To say we're a bit surprised that Cadillac is showing off the performance variant of their upcoming entry-level sedan would be an understatement - the reveal of the standard CT4 is expected to happen in a few weeks. Aimed at the likes of the Audi S3 and …

Cadillac XTS Struts It Stuff At LA William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 20, 2011 The Cadillac XTS will appear in the flesh at next month's LA Auto Show. The car will have Cadillac's new CUE infotainment system which will also appear the new ATS sedan and SRX crossover. We don't know what engine will be under the hood, though a version of the 3.6L DI V6 is a safe assumption. Source: Inside Line

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/06/chart-day-cadillac-cts-sales-41-2015/ In each of the last five months, General Motors has failed to sell more than 1,800 copies of the CTS. Sub-2K CTS sales months are unheard-of. Even in 2012, when CTS volume slid 15%, Cadillac averaged 3,914 CTS sales per month in the United States and never fell below 2,300. "Escalade and SRX sales are masking how bad things really are for Cadillac." Posted on TTAC Facebook page.

After months of rumors and spy photos, Cadillac finally spilled the beans on their new high-performance CT4 and CT5 Blackwing. These new models are planned to give German rivals a bruising when they start arriving at dealers later this summer. Here is what we know. CT4 Blackwing The smaller of the two Blackwing models starts with a twin-turbo 3.6L V6 engine with 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. To achieve this power, Cadillac upgraded the various internals with titanium connecting rods and a revised crankshaft. Power is routed to the rear-wheels by either a six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic. Performance figures are impressive with a 0-60 mph ti…

Third Time's The Charm? Cadillac Returns To Europe William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 22, 2011 Cadillac and Europe haven't been the best of friends. The past two times Cadillac has sold vehicles in Europe, sales have come up short and the lineup offered didn't exactly meet Europe's demands. Now, Cadillac is hoping its third try into the European market is a success. “The only thing you can do is try, try and try again with Cadillac in Europe,” said GM CEO Dan Akerson. The CTS will take the lead while the upcoming XTS and ATS will follow afterward. The big question is will Cadillac offer a diesel engine option? Jeff Lux, Opel Vauxh…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com December 14, 2011 Today, Cadillac has revealed the powertrain lineup for their new ATS sedan. The lineup includes two fours and a six. The base ATS engine will be naturally aspirated 2.5L I-4 engine. GM hasn't released any details about it, but it looks like to be the same engine found under the new Chevrolet Malibu, which gets 190 HP and 180 lb-ft of torque. The next engine up is a 2.0L turbocharged I-4.Now before you go out and think this is the same engine you find in the Regal Turbo and GS, it's not. This 2.0L turbo is a part of a new Ecotec engine lineup and will use an electronically controlled twin-scroll turb…

Just a day after the 2021 Suburban and Tahoe debuted the Cadillac Escalade has also leaked out online. As expected, the side profile still looks like the Tahoe/Suburban, however it apparently does still sport the vertical tail lights of the current generation vehicle. Inside is a decidedly upgraded interior. The gauge cluster is dual screen and flows into the infotainment system. Like the Chevy twins, the column shifter is gone, in this case replaced by Cadillac's Precision Control Shift. A dial to control the infotainment system similar to that on the XT6 is visible as well. The Escalade will be powered by the same 6.2 liter V8 offered as an upgrade in the…

Cadillac's sedan lineup in the future is going to look much smaller. Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen told Reuters in an interview that the ATS, CTS, and XTS will not be directly replaced when their lifecycles end in 2019. A new model called the CT5 will take their place and cost between $35,000 and $45,000. "We have to rebalance our sedan portfolio," de Nysschen. The CT6 will take care of the top end, while a new small luxury sedan (possibly named CT4) will handle the low end. de Nysschen reiterated plans of Cadillac building out their crossover lineup with the XT4 launching in 2019. de Nysschen also mentioned that Cadillac could be launching a range o…

Cadillac has apparently pulled a page of out of the Nissan ad playbook as they have revealed the upcoming 2016 CT6 in a new ad during the Oscars tonight. The ad - titled The Daring: No Regrets - features a number folks the worlds of fashion, finance, technology, and film whose common beginnings are contrasted with their exceptional accomplishments. Following this, the ad asks "How dare a 112-year-old carmaker reinvent itself," and out rolls the CT6. The vehicle takes the current styling of the CTS and stretches it out length and width-wise. We'll have more information and clearer pictures when the CT6 debuts at the New York Auto Show in April. The ad is below. Source: …

What We KnowThe 2016 CT6 is not Cadillac’s flagship, General Motors product chief Mark Reuss says. That role will be given to an even larger rear-wheel-drive sedan coming within four years. While the Cadillac CT6 is a bit bigger than a short-wheelbase BMW 7 Series, we expect the so-called CT8 to be slightly larger than the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The CT8, like the CT6, will ride on the new Omega platform, which employs GM’s patented process for welding aluminum. If the CT6 is any guide, the CT8 will be hundreds of pounds lighter than the S-Class. But the CT8 will be more than a long-wheelbase version of the CT6. Its styling should be more stately and upright…

Cadillac is finally showing off the new XTS sedan today at the LA Auto Show. The XTS takes the place of the DTS and STS sedans to become Cadillac's large sedan. And large it is with a length of 202 in., width of 72.9in., height of 59.1 in., and rides on a wheelbase that is 111.7 in. Cadillac says those measurements help give the XTS 40 in. of rear legroom and a trunk capacity of 18 cubic feet. Styling is very close to the XTS Platinum concept shown at last years North American International Auto Show. Step inside the XTS and your greeted with either perforated or supple black leather with french, white stitching. The dash is covered in leather with a handful of accents…

News flash to automakers in Japan and Germany: The eagle has landed. Again. If you were one of those who wrote off General Motors as a dying dinosaur -- after all, it's been a decade since any GM car took home the Golden Calipers (the Chevrolet Corvette won back in 1998) -- prepare to rewrite everything you think you know about what's in the General's store. With this bold, savvy, uncompromising showpiece of a sedan -- the all-new Cadillac CTS -- GM has leapt straight from the rabble's side of the velvet rope into that coveted, highly selective inner sanctum marked "World's Finest Cars." For that remarkable achievement, and for making us grin like lottery winners every t…

The Cadillac XTS represents the last of an era of front-wheel drive based luxury sedans for the brand. You may think that it will not be too long before the XTS goes into the great parking lot in the sky. But that's where you be wrong as the brand is giving the XTS some big updates for 2018. The most noticeable change is the new face that makes the XTS look more like the CT6 - something we first learned about last month. There is a new front grille and headlights that have been moved up slightly. The rear comes with a new trunk and reshaped LED taillights. Inside, Cadillac has introduced the latest version of CUE which brings forth an all new user interface. …

http://www.motortrend.com/news/comparison-audi-s6-4-0t-quattro-vs-cadillac-cts-v-sport-vs-lexus-gs-f/ To sum up, the Cadillac won very well, and it stood the test of time. Mainly, it was about delivering a solid blend of luxury and performance. And the Cadillac did it all, at a great price. I think that's what is great about the win. The Merecedes E Class was excluded because it's due to be replaced and the 5 Series didn't represent Europe as well as the A6. I think it shows maturity with design, that it can hold up after a few years pass by and the competitors try to catch up. A great win for the home team!

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com March 18, 2013 The new Cadillac CTS will be introduced next week at the New York Auto Show, but the brand decided to announce the engine lineup for it this week. The big news for the CTS is the introduction of the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 good for 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet. That is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination runs to 60 MPH in 4.6 seconds, a top speed of 170 MPH, and returns an estimated MPG of 17 City/25 Highway. “The new Cadillac Twin-Turbo brings a new dimension of technologically advanced performance to the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan,” said David Leone, executive c…

Inside Analysis Cadillac CTS family could be 3-series fighters By DAVID SEDGWICK | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Published 12/26/06, 7:56 am et Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek DETROIT -- The Cadillac CTS sedan may be about to start a family. General Motors insiders say Cadillac is seriously considering a plan to create a family of CTS sedans, coupes and wagons that would emulate BMW's 3-series lineup. Mock-ups of a wagon and coupe already lurk inside GM's design studio in suburban Detroit. Of course, that doesn't mean they'll ever go into production. But GM executives clearly have spotted an opportunity to create a CTS minibrand within Cadillac. The seda…

Cadillac's Blackwing V8 was the brand's first in-house V8 engine since the Northstar back in the 90's. The engine boasted twin turbos, dual overhead camshafts, and output of 550 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque for the CT6-V. But with the CT6 set to end U.S. production this month, the future of Blackwing is up in the air. "[We have] no specific plans for that engine, but never is a long time," said Cadillac president Steve Carlisle to Road & Track at the launch of the 2021 Escalade last week. Previous reports had the Blackwing possibly going into the either the 2021 Escalade or the high-potent version of the CT5. It's likely the Escalade is a no-go, while R&T…

Buick is GM's star in China, but Cadillac isn't far behind. Last year, Cadillac sales rose 17 percent to almost 80,000 vehicles. Consulting company LMC Automotive says the brand is poised to move ahead of Lexus in the country. Where can Cadillac attribute this rise in sales in China? Young buyers. The luxury brand says the average age for a buyer is 34 years old - slightly more than half of the average age of a Cadillac buyer in the U.S. "In China, young buyers already dominate the luxury market. Since Cadillac is a relative newcomer ... it was far easier to begin to cultivate the desired positioning for the brand from the get-go," said Cadillac President Johan de…

It is no secret that General Motors has big ambitions in the electric car space, we talked about back in March. But our chance to see to see the first fruits of this, the Cadillac Lyriq had been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. But tonight, Cadillac finally revealed the Lyriq in show car form. "Show Car" is important in this context as Cadillac is finalizing various parts of the Lyriq's design - various reports say the design is 80 to 85 percent production ready. This may explain why Cadillac isn't launching the model until late-2022. The design is quite out there with a large pattern grille, vertical LED headlamps, fastback roofline, and rear lights that wrap around…

The Cadillac CT6 will end production in January 2020 the company confirmed as part of a letter to 800 employees due to be laid off. This means that the 2020 CT6 will be the final model year for the car in the U.S.. Like the recently announced cancellation of the Buick Regal in the U.S., the CT6 will continue in production in China where sedan sales are still big. The news of the CT6's cancellation is not a surprise. GM's Detroit Hamtramck was originally slated for closure until the negotiations with the UAW brought some product back to the plant. If there is one issue that is top of mind for various folks at Cadillac, it is the lack of crossovers. Their sedan-heavy lineup isn't doing them any favors in a marketplace crazy for crossovers and SUVs. The brand does have some breathing room thanks to increasing sales in China, but they know they need crossovers now. “It’s left us with the obvious difficulty. The core part of our volume lineup is in the market that’s contracting while we are unable, as good as XT5 and Escalade are, we are unable to fully exploit the updraft that’s taking place in the other half of the market,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen to The Detroit News. Likely the only view that M5 drivers will have of the CTS-V Link to Autoblog It's been over 60 years since the Americans have so thoroughly trounced the Germans, but Inside Line has the numbers to prove it. The Edmunds news service had a chance to take the new Cadillac CTS-V (which we're driving in upstart New York as we speak) and its supercharged V8 for a spin around GM's Milford proving grounds and brought along its testing gear. The resulting bombardment ought to have the Germans thoroughly embarrassed and rebuilding for decades to come. The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AM…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 25, 2012 When Cadillac showed the XTS Platinum Concept at the 2010 North American International Auto Show, it was equipped with a 3.6L DI V6 and a plug-in hybrid system that produced a potent 350 HP. However, the production XTS probably won't have a hybrid version. AutoGuide had the chance to sit down with Cadillac Communications Manager David Caldwell. Caldwell said a hybrid version of the XTS, either to provide more fuel-economy or power is highly unlikely. If Cadillac was to provide more power for the XTS, they would go in a different direction. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 17, 2012 We last saw a next-generation CTS mule running around the frozen tundras of Canada undergoing some cold-winter testing back in February. Fast forward two months and two CTS mules are roaming the streets in a new set of spy shots. As we reported back in February, the new CTS will use an extended version of the "Alpha" platform to help it better compete with the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6. On this test mule, you can make out a large grill with two bold bars, projector headlamps with LED daytime runners, lots of radar sensors, and dual exhaust tips around the back. The engine lineu…

I don't know if the info in this article is just speculated rumor or an actual fact based on a reliable source (I know quite a bit of internet "news" is more of the former than latter). I think the Insignia is a great product, but it belongs at B-P-G. If Cadillac is going to receive an Epsilon based model to slot below the CTS (which I believe it will at some point; I don't believe the corporation will follow through with the Alpha platform), then it should have its own unique "Art & Science" inspired design. The Cadillac CT6 has been in the news a lot lately. First it was potentially canceled as its home factory in the U.S. is slated for closure. Then there was the Cadillac Blackwing V8. Most recently it has dropped both the base 2.0T 4-cylinder and the mid-range (now that there is a V8) 3.0 twin-turbo V6. With all of those changes, there is bound to be some price changes to accompany them. For 2020, the CT6 will see a base price rise of $8,500 over the 2019 model to $59,900. With that rise, the base engine becomes the 3.6 liter V6 and AWD standard. It is also adding about $3,500 worth of active safety equipment as standard. Moving up to the Premium Luxury …

Cadillac is going to have a quiet 2017, but 2018 looks to be a blockbuster year as the first of their needed crossovers will launch - the compact XT3. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have gotten our first look at it. General Motors' camouflage department did a really good job of covering up the XT3, so we can't really tell much about the design except that it looks like an even smaller XT5. One detail they weren't able to cover up is the intercooler, leading us to believe that the XT3 will come with turbocharged power - most likely the 2.0L turbo. A nine-speed automatic and the choice of front or all-wheel drive is likely. Platform-wise, expect the XT3 to use the un…

ATS drove awesome. I loved how tight and nimble it felt. The trans felt a little snappy from gear to gear…

The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has become an auto show of sorts in the past few years with luxury automakers showing off concepts and new models. Cadillac has used the event to show off various concepts such as the Ciel and Elmiraj. Last night, they revealed the Escala concept. “Escala is a concept with two clear objectives. First, Escala is a statement of intent for the next iteration of the Cadillac design language, and also technical concepts in development for future Cadillac models. Secondly, Escala builds Cadillac’s aspirational character, signaling the brand’s return to the pinnacle of premium,” said Johan de Nysschen, president of Cadillac. Escala (S…

Perhaps GM figures their enthusiast customers will order their Cadillac XTS(?) with an upcoming DOHC V12? Did they discover a way to bring one of their pushrod V8s noise, vibration and harshness levels down to where the next Northstar would have been? If so will this be offered as the base motor for the XTS or will it be the DI V6? If the V6 is the base motor and they do introduce a V12 will they offer a LS V8? Will the V12 with Active Fuel Management get close enough to a V8's fuel economy to make offering it wasteful? What do you guys think?

The V8 RWD SRX (which didn't sell well simply because it was odd looking) was replaced by a FWD V6 Equinox. The V8 RWD STS is going away - and NOTHING is replacing it (The XTS is not a replacement for the STS). The V8 DTS is being replaced by a V6 that rides on the same platform as a Chevy Impala and Buick LaCrosse.. Who cares if the V6 has slightly more horsepower than the Northstar? It's lacks in torque.. And the Northstar in the DTS was weak for the segment it competed in anyway. So the V6 may be just as good as the V8 in the old DTS. Wow. Great news. It's still too weak for a full-size luxury sedan. A new CTS will replace the old CTS and will probably be a little bit…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 14, 2012 When the Cadillac XTS was first revealed, most everyone in the press said this was the new flagship. However, GM's North American president is making it clear that there could be a real Cadillac flagship. Mark Reuss, GM's president for North America recently told Automotive News that a flagship Cadillac is on the table. The flagship would be a continuation of how GM has been positioning Cadillac's lineup to better match-up with competitors. The new ATS will tackle the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4, while the next CTS will grow in size to better compete with the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. “I’m a…

Currently, the least expensive way to get into a 3-row Cadillac was to pony up $76 kilo-dollars for a base Cadillac Escalade. Even then, check too many boxes on the option sheet and the price could easily head well into the $80k range. When the Cadillac XT6 hits dealership later in couple months, that line in the sand will fall by over $20k. Cadillac will begin taking orders on the XT6 later this month with a base price starting at $53,690. That gets you a front-wheel drive Premium Luxury model. The XT6 Sport with standard all-wheel drive starts at $58,090 (including destination charge for both). All XT6 models are powered by a 3.6 liter V6 producing 310 hp an…

A fresh set of spy shots have come, revealing Cadillac's upcoming CT4 sedan. This will be replacement for the slow-selling ATS. But you might be thinking this is the larger CT5, the replacement for the CTS. Both vehicles are dressed up in similar-looking camouflage and have the same overall shape. We'll admit that we were confused when we first laid eyes on the photos, but Autoblog has come to rescue to by having spy shots of both the CT4 and CT5 to help point out differences. The key difference between the two models is in the back. If the cutout for license plate is at the bumper and a slightly rounded trunk lid, that's the CT4. If the cutout is higher and the…

Back in November, General Motors announced that it would end production of six models in North America. One of the models listed was the Cadillac CT6 sedan. This surprised a number of people considering that the brand had only refreshed model, and announced some key improvements such as adding Super Cruise and a new twin-turbo V8 engine known as Blackwing. But GM President Mark Reuss and Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said they are looking into various options to keep the CT6 on sale in the U.S. The two explained that model was never meant to be on the chopping with other models such as the Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Impala. But officials at the time did not men…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 15, 2012 Cadillac is in the process of revamping the sedan lineup. So far, the brand has shown the new XTS and ATS. The only one that hasn't been touched is the CTS, until now. Today, the first spy shots of the new CTS were caught in the Northern Territories of Canada. Wearing the codename of A1LL, the next-generation CTS will ride on an extended version of the ATS’ Alpha platform to compete with the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, and Audi A6. Cadillac's Art & Science design language will continue on the next CTS with a sharp C-pillar, angular exhaust cutouts, and a front end likely having some resembla…

Today at the Detroit Auto Show, Cadillac revealed the production model of the Converj, which is named the ELR. The ELR stays very much true to the Converj's styling. The result is a very handsome and daring vehicle to wear the crest and wreath. The design features a low, fast roofline; strong shoulder line running from the doors towards the end of the vehicle, twenty-inch wheels, and LED head and taillights. The ELR's interior is very luxurious. Designers lined the interior with stit…

The CT5 is offered in rear-wheel drive with all-wheel drive being an option. It is highly likely that the CT4 will get this same offering. There is word that the V-series version of the Cadillac CT5 will also debut. It is likely to pack the same 4.2-liter Blackwing V8 that is available in the CT6. The CT4 V-series is likely to get an uprated version of the 3.0TT. While the CT5 is more of a fastback style, the spyshots of the CT4 shows a more conventional sedan profile an…

So my nephew is a test drive consultant who racks many miles on new test vehicles that are at or near production build levels. He drives everything, currently mostly from Dodge/Chrysler and Cadillac, although he showed me several top drawer vettes as well. He is on prescribed routes and when near me, we meet up for dinner or lunch. Last Saturday he pulled up in a black CT6. Cadillac really has done a great job on this car. He took me for a short ride (against the rules, but I demanded it), and I got to dash fondle and take in all the details and surfaces and textures and materials. It is far better than CTS in every way, which makes me wonder how they will sell …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 15, 2013 Remember the days before SUVs became the symbol of luxury. If you wanted a luxurious vehicle back in the sixties or seventies, you went down to your Cadillac or Lincoln dealer and picked up a luxury coupe. Cadillac wants to revisit that idea of a luxury coupe, but bring it into the modern era. That brings us to the Elmiraj Coupe Concept which has made its debut at Pebble Beach Cadillac says the Elmiraj pays tribute to the past and looks toward the future of Cadillac design. The name and proportions of the Elmiraj pays homage to the late sixties Eldorado Coupe, while the design gives us a sneak peek of wha…

I've heard the rumors of a 280-300hp V6, but is it just speculation? Being "good enough" is typical GM thought and I'm fearing that they are going to seriously drop the ball and stick with the same 255hp engine they have now. A ~300hp V6 would greatly step on the [underperforming] 4.6l Northstar's toes with just 320hp. I suppose this just emphasizes the need for the Northstar to be revamped. They didn't feel it was necessary to upgrade the GMT900's small block/4speed combo which is the same crime.

Well that was what Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac's president told dealers last summer. Now dealers are getting a first look at 'worse' looks like. Automotive News that a number of dealers have lost on incentive cash in the first quarter because they missed sales targets set by GM. Discounts and lease offers have also dried up as well. Previously, Cadillac offered deals on the ATS and CTS to help remove the massive stock sitting on dealer lots. This is reflected in Cadillac's sales. ATS dropped 23 percent, while the CTS saw …

This is scientific speculation based on what we know about GM engines and other technologies GM has been working on. Simply put we are hypothesizing about what the power output of a 6.2 liter would be if direct injection was added for example. - DD

December 18, 2012 Drew Dowdell Managing Editor - CheersandGears.com It is looking like GM is gearing up for a very busy auto show in Detroit this year. Today Cadillac released this teaser of their upcoming ELR luxury electric hybrid. Based on Voltec technology, the Cadillac ELR will begin production in late 2013 at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant where the Volt is currently built. Rumor has it that the ELR will forgo the 1.4 liter engine the Volt uses and instead run with a new Opel engine displacing around 1.8 liters. Further backing that up will likely be a larger battery. Cadillac's chief marketing officer, Uwe Ellinghaus isn't one to mince words. In a interview with Automobile Magazine, he labels the ELR as a disappointment. "Put it this way: The ELR's a big disappointment; there's no denying," said Ellinghaus. Ellinghaus explained the ELR "was the niche in the niche in the niche," and therefore appealed to a small audience. Not helping matters is the way Cadillac marketed the ELR a luxurious two-seater coupe has proved unsuccessful partly due to the coupe market shrinking. Many customers compared it to the Tesla Model S which offered more practicality. While there might not be a second-generation ELR, Ellinghaus says Cadillac…

Earlier this month, Cadillac revealed the CT6 and XT5 in Berlin ahead of their official European launch in September. At the present moment, the brand will be selling the vehicles through 45 dealers in 12 countries. Speaking with Autocar, Cadillac Europe’s head of product management Barnabas Vincze says they plan on doubling that by 2020 as part of a plan to achieve “organic growth” rather than going after volume. This shows in the sales goal as Cadillac wants to boost sales from about 550 vehicles last year to around 900-1000. For the time being, the CT6 and XT5 will be equipped only with gas engines. Down the road, Vincze says “all types of different powertrains wer…

The entry-level luxury class could be getting a model from Cadillac. Dave Leone, Cadillac executive chief engineer said in an interview with Road & Track that they are developing a new sedan to sit under ATS. "We are working on something below ATS," said Leone. Leone didn't go into further details about the vehicle but did say "one of our strengths in sedans is that we are known for being rear-wheel drive." Road & Track speculates the new sedan will use the Alpha rear-drive platform. This gives a Cadillac an edge as all of the entry-level luxury sedans are front-wheel drive based. But using Alpha introduces a big problem. As we have noted in our tw…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 29, 2013 Last night, Automotive News broke some big news concerning Cadillac. Sources say that executives have put on ice a new super luxury sedan that would have competed with the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The reason is due to the investment not being justifiable. A brief refresher: Back in 2011, we began hearing rumors of a new RWD platform with the codename of Omega. Omega was to spawn two new Cadillac flagships; one that would take on the likes of the BMW 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class; and a super luxury sedan. Now, development of Omega and the S-Class competitor is still on and is expected to come…

The rear deck look like a CTS coupe. It also stated it will be a powered by high out put small displacement engines one with a turbocharged power. They said it will pull no punches and will be aimed directly at the BMW. V series will be included. The magazine has a good interview with Tadge Juechter of the Vette team. Cadillac is getting ready to launch the new XT5 and it is only the beginning a new crossover offensive from the luxury brand. Speaking to Automotive News, Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen said a variation of the XT5's platform will be used for a new three-row crossover in the near future. "It's one of the benefits of having this very flexible architecture. We can expand it, make it longer and wider. That gives us the ability to develop the car very quickly, as opposed to starting from scratch," said de Nysschen. Despite some outlets reporting that Cadillac has begun testing the new crossover, de Nysschen said this project only began sometime last year. "It…

Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said that when Cadillac starts rolling out its electric vehicles, it will use actual words for model names instead of the alphanumeric scheme currently used on its cars and SUVs. Cadillac's move away from names started in 2003 with the Cadillac CTS. Over time, the Seville and Deville were converted to STS and DTS respectively. Later, the scheme was changed to alphanumeric when Johan de Nysschen joined the company as President. Cadillac will be taking the lead on GM's push to introduce 20 new all-electric vehicles around the globe by 2023. Carlisle said that by 2030, the majority, if not all, Cadillacs will be battery electric vehic…

Back at the New York Auto Show, Cadillac unveiled an all-new twin-turbo 4.2L V8 that produces 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. This engine was destined for upcoming CT6 V-Sport. Late last week, the first spy shots of the next-generation Cadillac Escalade made their way onto the web. Much like the spy shots of the Chevrolet Suburban that came out back in May, we can't tell much about the exterior due to the heavy camouflage. There are certain details that can be made out such as Escala-like grille and the headlights moving horizontally. Like the new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the Escalade and sister SUV models will utilize the T1XX platform. One of the key changes this platform brings is an independent rear suspension, something we first saw in the Suburban spy shots. The 6.2L V8 with 420 horsepower is expected to continue into the n…

Posted Aug 21st 2008 3:29PM by Jeremy Korzeniewski Filed under: Concept Cars, Sedans/Saloons, I.C.E., Cadillac 750-hp 7.5-liter V12 from the Cadillac Cien concept Here's a shocker: Cadillac has reportedly canceled plans for a range-topping V12 engine. Really, you don't say? Last we checked, General Motors didn't seem to have any problems extracting plenty of performance from its 6.2-liter supercharged and 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engines, and the majority of the development work has already been done for a Caddy installation. Additionally, we've heard some rumors of a possible twin-turbo version of GM's excellent 3.6-liter direct injection six, which coul…
