Ford: No Moves Until 2009

Ford Motor Co. will stick with its established product plans through 2008 as the automaker attempts to stabilize its share of the U.S. market and return to profit, a senior executive said.

"We have to stabilize the business right now," Mark Fields, Ford's president for American operations told reporters late on Monday. "We have to pick our shots on where we want to go out, and we have to get the business back to consistent profitability."

what ford needs to do for now is promote the snot out of and improve drastically the cars they have. and some sport models of existing models could be a boost in the meantime. Why not some sport versions of the Fusion, Edge, Focus? It doesn't take much to bolt in some bolstered seats, stiffen the suspension, tighten the steering, and add 20 poines through ECU and ram. Sell sport packages as low cost options to boost interest in the influencers and get some press in the rags.

Yes, Fusion GT and Edge GT models could do well to bolster the image of Ford.
