White trash cars, eh? I nominate my own 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme sedan!

I love this car but if you don't think it's the car that an abusive alcoholic husband in some shitty made for TV movie would drive, you're lying to yourself.

I put down Neon. A month ago, someone called the Monte Carlo the "white trash car of America." Ouch. I kind of like them. What does Tonya Harding drive, anyway?

A friend of mine had a Ford Tempo in white. His grandpa got it for him for $500. Piece of shit, too. Top speed was around 25 MPH, gas tank leaked, broken cassette deck, and the upholstery smelled like chili and dog shit.

I don't know why but he nicknamed it "the Ford Tampon." Not joking either.

well thats dependant on where you live... in the midwest and south... sure because of the huge NASCAR fanbase... but up here in NJ ive only seen middle-aged people drivin the LTs and younger guys from like...17-25 drivin SSs none white trash... and every MC ive seen up here is in great condition so which cars qualify is really a regional thing when you think about it...

In the Northwest, lesbians with LESS money drive these. Lesbians with MORE money drive the newer ones.

I've seen quite a few tempos/topazes around here...they just seem to hang on..

I still remember people in high school trying to break one in the parking lot...

Its amazing the abuse that they take...

The problem with this thread is we're trying to paint a picture with a very broad paintbrush. Of course not every single one of any car will fit inot one and only one demographic. It's saying all blonde girls are great in bed which is clearly not a scientific truth. That being said it seems Fords do have an exceptionaly high ranking in the white trash factor. Obviously not 1932 Highboys & GT40s though... but Tauruses, Tempos & Escorts are game. So long story short, FWD sux! Edited by Sixty8panther

What about Granadas and Fairmonts?

Esp. Granada....I've yet to see one do anything redeeming with one of those (or Monarch or Versailles)

I drive one... I will give you that the Neon had a nicer interior but in 10 years, all mine has needed is a Power Steering pump.

Agreed.

I've had only a few problems with my cavs..even the old wagon is hanging in there...at 14 years and rust.....

The Neon, and the other hand.... :censored:

I see quite a few 95+ Cavs...but very few 95+ Neons....

That is, until I stopped at the local yard.....

I chose Honda Civic.... Not even 4 years ago I would've went with 90s Camaro. But now it seems that every trailer park around here has a wide variety of "pimped out, yet barely running --dirty as hell because I never wash the trailer park mud off of it" Civics. And the people who drive these things are my *favorite* people in the world. They're usually white, talk like a 'gansta' and try to wear yesterdays in-style designer clothes while possesing a chip on their shoulder that is so big I could in fact jump on it for a ride.

I don't remember seeing a Civic in a TP around here....cost too much around here.
A riced out Neon, maybe.

I have no idea what's in TPs around here (probably pickups)...let alone where the TPs are...they have scary people in them, I think.

LEAVE THE THIRD GEN CAMARO OUT OF THIS - I really want one to put away for safe keeping. I love those cars. Sadly, they do have the rep though...not as bad to me as the 5.0 Mustangs of the late 80's early 90's (Vanilla Ice anyone?) For me, around here, it is a strong tie between the Ford Aerostar/Windstar vans and the Crown Vic/Mercury twins - late 80's through - NOW! And the other side of the tie belongs to the Chevrolet Astro/Safari and Caprices...those 4 basic bodies run around through the trailer courts and projects around here in droves. And the LX cars (pre rwd!!!) Lots of them rusting on the street as we speak. Regardless of the make and model - don't you just want to pull them over and wash the windows in these WT cars? When the world is blurry due to the nicotine on the windows...wash them!

Any old pickup, Taurus/Sable or Escort, and Temps...also Tercels. I would avoid 1st gen Neons like the plague (I've heard some pretty bad horror stories), but the 2nd gens aren't bad little cars. I haven't heard to many issues with them. People I know who own them haven't had any real problems with them. I would never go anywhere near a J-body of any year. Surprisingly I still see a lot of 1st gen Neons on the road, even more shocking is that most don't look bad...although some I've sen with peeling paint, and a few with really bad surface rust on the roof. Lots of them with fogged headlights though.

From someone who has owned both J-bodies and Neons....I would avoid the Neons all together.... It took them until 2001 to really figure out that headgasket issues, and the 02+ came up with a new problem-The trans. Not to mention that pretty much all Neons (and the PTs) are famous for burning oil...regardless of milage. Besides th annoying interior on the 95+, the Js tend to last much longer (just don't tell BV :AH-HA_wink: ) THough there are certain models/years that I would avoid..... I'm surprised you see so many 1st gens...I did too until a few years ago. Though when I went to the yard a few months ago, there were nearly 20 1st gen Neons just sitting there......

Ford Probes and Escorts that made it past 1999, any honda crv with mismatched fenders, panels or windows, toyota camrys from the Eighties that sounds like a motorboat
Anything with too much reading material on the bumper.

There has to be more behind that little Dixie avy of yours than Southern pride, my friend.

Nah, hes just waiting for the south to rise again.

I find it funny how you're still mad about me busting your balls in that Prius thread like 2 years ago...

It's AWESOME that I had such a big impact! Thanks!

I also find it funny that LA deduced something about me being prejudiced based on me stating that I hated certain white people (obvioulsy for reasons other than race --- such as their actions) in a thread that has the sole purpose of criticizing white people.

Anyway, keep the comments coming... I enjoy a daily laugh. Edited by FUTURE_OF_GM

How have we all managed to go five pages without mentioning the front wheel drive Lincoln Continentals of the 1990's, bearing their trademark blown rear air suspension? Nobody here can tell me that they haven't passed many a filthy, rusty Continental with its nose to the sky, popping a perpetual wheelie as it drags its rear bumper cover down the road.

I never saw you say anything like that, bro.

I was just going on the assumption that folks don't fly that logo for irony reasons.

I didn't even say you were prejudiced, bigoted, racist, etc. I don't know what race or sexual orientation you are, nor does it necessarily matter to me.

Note to mods: that's my last public note on that sidebar. Back to trailer park trashmobiles.

Continentals and Marks of that period always annoyed me with that drop, while otherwise being as buckety as a car could possibly get. It was either the rear or all four that were blown out. And no one that owned those cars could afford or be bothered to fix them. Like springs were enough to get by. Truly gutter in every department.

Can I get a witness about the trashiness of frontie Sevilles and Eldorados also? Chiefly 79-85, but they all could equally get nasty...hell, most all 80s frontie Caddys.
