Production Fairlane Won't be at NAIAS

Posted Image

The production version of the Ford Fairlane concept vehicle will not be shown at the Detroit auto show -- contrary to expectations that it would be there.

The Free Press has reported several times that the vehicle would be on hand. Even the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, which hosts the North American International Auto Show, thought the vehicle would be displayed.

But Ford said it never planned to display the concept at the show in Detroit in January.

"We have had a plan for some time and that plan has not changed," said Ford spokeswoman Sara Tatchio.

Tatchio said the Detroit auto show does not correspond with the manufacturing schedule for the production version of the Fairlane concept. She said it would be shown at a later date.

you forgot to add to the headline at the end

"Because It's Ugly"

maybe MULALLY is making changes and they need time to redo it before they make the mistake of releasing it as is.

Hey, it looks better than the Element and the xB, and those aren't doing so bad.

I don't mind the look of it at all. Its not bland like the xB or the element, and I kind liek the front end treatment. Its different than the typical front end trweatments out there today (think bars or mesh)

I like it-at least Ford's trying to get something right stylistically-I'd love to see it applied with New Edge and with cars like the Refl3x concept car (the sloping front end that is). Can't wait to see Fairlane, Faction, or whatever this will be called, but will it be bigger and better than Acadia/Moab/Outlook?
