Sucks for Mazda

Recommended Posts

Yeah, that's more than a little wasteful. There could have been some good PR to have been made off of this, or cash.

What awful luck! What made the ship roll on its side in the first place?

The Associated Press reports that the Cougar Ace tipped after her ballast was adjusted in the open sea. The resulting imbalance sent her over into the 60-degree list she is currently experiencing. As seen in the US Coast Guard photo above, her keel, rudder, and propeller are all out of the water.

Someone posting in that link made a good point. Just because they're "scrapping" them doesn't mean they're going to necessarily crush them. They could sell them to junkyards... cheap replacement parts, anyone?

There was a cargo ship a few years ago that carried a bunch of volvos & bmws, I believe, and capsized. They sawed the ship up- cargo included.

Learning mazda's owner retention rate, these will not be missed in the least.

I remember this happening to a bunch of Volvos in the English Channel a few years back. It's too bad they didn't salvage the good ones and sell them at a low low price or donate them.

This has also happened to Hyundai in the past.

As stated before, this is a good reason to build the cars locally.

Exactly, poor Mazda nothing, they just sold 4700 cars without worry of ever

having to file a warranty claim on them or give up any MSRP... Cha-ching.

just a little wet, they're still good, they're still good

LOL who does not love the Simpsons!? :P

Damn, didn't the same thing happen to a shipment of 2007 Mazda3's?

I thought it was CX-7's or RX-8's or something like that. I know it's happened to Mazda before.
