You guys mean Tercel 4WD wagon...and yes, that thing was terrible, but I would never go so far as to say the xA looks like it. And 68, that monster truck Scion is kinda cool in a goofy sort of way.....

yes. I'm the kind of white collar redneck taht would make something like that... but in like 2015 not right now. Why hack up a new car to do that? I would have used a '92 Civic wagon.

Because it's cool to be crappy especially if your car is made by Toyota. It shows us that they totally don't care about building a well-built car so that means they're non-conformists to society. Were you serious with that question though? I mean, can you find one very popular auto/non-auto magazine and newspaper that isn't Japan-crazy? It's very hard to find one. We're living in a society where it's cool to hate everything American made because having pride and respect for one's country and economy is soo 1950s.

Better yet, why doesn't scion get nailed for poor build quality.  My parents xa has super big gaps on the exterior panels, no rear or front wheel well covers, and a dash as hard and cheap as can be.

what can you expect out of a $17,000 car?

Considering that these vehicles are made right in Japan, and are probably larger upscale vehicles in Asia, I would expect more.

People don't seem to get that Japan Inc. builds a TON of small cars for their home markets, so they should be better (really just have more invested in their design and production) at building them than the Big 3. Then they also benifit from the fact that people in the US can't seem to get enough of Japanese cars, so they buy these little $hit boxes too.....further stuffing the wallets of the Japanese 3.

How do you expect any of the Big 3 to compete in the small car market, when none of the Japanese/Asian public will/can buy any of the small cars they produce?

Wow, my first year 2005 300/Magnum LX forum never had this many problems on it:

Apparently Scion tC's sound like rattle traps.  :P

There's this one guy on there who says stuff like: "Well, the car was only $17,500.....what do you expect", and "You must suck at driving, because my car doesn't do that".  What a helpful site where owners of the same car are arguing with each other.

Probably more like around $14-15,000.  Then again, having hard plastic in a car at that price point is better than having it in a $25K Impala.

Just making fun of what was said on another thread, and on another Scion fanboy site... lol...
