April Fool's CAR SPOTTING

Recommended Posts

Last gen. Cadillac Deville Flower Car.

It flew past me on Memorial Drive, too fast to even make a grab for the camera.

It was black, natrually & has a rolled back toneau cover on the back that looked

like a convertible top on a 1980s VW Cabriolet. Very nice clean conversion.

Much less exciting, a brand new Rolls Royce on Rt. 495

Six really awful mid-90s Town Cars. Picture faded paints, missing chrome trim, rotted vinyl/cloth roofs, jacked-up (literally) air suspensions, deteriorated gold anodizing, and half of them with burned-out piston rings and you get the drift. I really wish someone would get these off the roads.

Oh, and someone redneck blew up a Datsun Maxima just like Sixty8's - and, yes, it was a redneck evidenced by the Southern By The Grace of God bumper sticker. God, it was so funny. First, he challenged a 25th anniversary Trans Am (yeah, right), then he challenged me (like I'd bother), then he was apparently racing a Supra when you heard a loud backfire and saw thick black smoke pouring out of what was left of the exhaust and under the hood.

But here's the monster, and I swear I'm not making this up.

Saw a brand new tundra tonight (the 1st I've seen), less than a mile from the toyota dealer, on the onramp to U.S. Route 1.... sitting with it's flashers on and a growing line of traffic behind it, lead by a tractor-trailer that could not pass him.

Priceless.

Fly:

That sucks, 1st gen. Maximas are nearly non-existant up here.

I love the damn things. Inline Six mounted north-south just

as God intended, a 5-speed manual & of course, RWD.

Balthazar:

I hope it was mechanical but it could have just been a dumb

salesman who ran it out of gas, it happens at every dealership

from time tio time. Every time a salesman at Chevrolet of

Lowell got intom a vehicle with low gas they'd be like:

"eh.. it's fine... there's always a bit left in the tank"

Well, not if the last three people before you also thought

the same thing, jackass.

No seriously, I'm seeing quite a few Acadias, I saw a dude with a Cobalt 2.4 SS--with a supercharger! in a supermarket parking lot, nd I got to drive in a nearly-mint condition '91 Camaro RS with a 305, white on red, t-tops, 4-speed autobox, that my little brother was about to buy, but chickened out of the very next day. (YOU IDIOT!)

and...get this...

I have yet to see a Tundra in the wild. Nope. Not one.

Hahhaahhaha! I'm glad you called me up that day and managed

to catch up with me so you could see the B-59. I have barelly

been home the past few days, I've just been driving the wheels

off my 4411 LeSabre. According to the odometer, which is a bit

off for what it's worth, I have added over 500 miles to the car in

my first five days of owning it. Mostly real slow & relaxing back

roads. Although, I happened to pull up next to a certain orange

1967 Cadillac Eldorado yesterday at a red light and we both

went for it... we were neck and neck until about 35/40mph but

after that the Razorback spanked me. :P

Still considering we're talking about 429 cubes versus 364,

1bbl versus 4bbl, my Buick did alright. I'm not going to even

bring the slow as molases but smoooooth as silk Twin-Turbine

trans into the equation.

Look for cool pics real soon of the Razorback with the B-59.

Yes, it was no match for my tired old 429 with massive exhaust leaks, a lethargic off-the-shelf parts store Edelbrock, and my chain-driven split Turbo 400. Check and mate. :P

As requested per Balthy's PM I will from here on forth stop calling my

Rochester 2-Jet a 1bbl. It is indeed a 2bbl, all joking aside. Now as

for you XP, better stop being a deuche since there's a 33.3% chance

that my Fifty-9 will be carting your ass down to NYC to pick up that

certain used car you've got your eyes on.

FYI: This means we might (not holding my breath just yet) be in the

tri-state area this upcoming saturday. And if we do go I've already

made it clear tom XP that the Datsun twins will be staying home...

if you get my drift.

No joke, I'm seriously considering a trip down there this sat. since

XP can't STFU about a certain car down in NYC that he wants. If this

happens I hope we can do a big C&G meeet at a central point.

Perhaps Philly would be perfect? :P

I seem to remember casting doubt on a certain someone's ability to stop buying old cars a short time ago...

Anyway, I expect a phone call if you do hit the Philly area.

Almost forgot, in those 500 or so miles I've gotten about 200 gawking motorists, 20 perplexed ones,

a dozen or so disgusted ones & several honks/thumbs up. Even a few invitations to race, except for

the few stoplight wars with XP I've kindly decined any offers to race the Buick, that's just retarded.

Anyway I saw a black Solstice today & I gave him the thumbs up on his ride as he checked out the

front fender & headlights of my B-59. Only car I've saluted from the seat of my Buick thus far.

You know what is funny, many of the the people in the Camry/Accord/Corolla/Civic crowd give me

thumbs up and such, more than you'd expect. Doesn;t make sense, they've got good taste enough

to slow down & acknowledge my 1950s ride but they drve those Japanese Jellybeans made out of

recycled Diet-Pepsi cans.

A 1970s Dodge Dart 2dr Hardtop passed by me the other day and I honked the horn.

Old-school (late 80s) BMW 6-SERIES was nexgt to me in traffic thr other day, I did not mind at all

sharaing the road with him.

Camino:

Hells Yeah, XP and I will most certainly be calling you if that's the case.

This time I'm not eatig "scrapple" however. :P

As O.B. said it's lips & a$$holes.

This morning I saw what I'd guess was a late 50's Rolls Royce with antique plates. Hard to be sure on the year as these didn't change much over the years.

From 1946 to 1978 they have round sealed beams, from 1978 to 2002 they have SQUARE sealed beams.

Other than that they are the same P.O.S. handbuilt Volvo 240s .

Also, in late March, I saw a Tundra hauling some sort of chintzy cart. That is the first and only Tundra I've seen so far, amidst all the hype. I see a helluva lot more new Silverados out here than anything.

Driving around in the B-59 the other night XP & I were on Huntington Ave.

by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts when I saw a sleek car pulled over, it

had slender LEDs for parking lamps which caught my eye and as it turns

out the car was an Aston Martin Vantage. It had been pulled over by a

U.C. in a mid 1990s Crown Vic. Both the cops got out of their unmarked

and stared at me as I drove off after I took the photo. :P

A 2007 mustang GT and me chased each other on the highway. He was faster but I was always on his ass.

Haven't seen a tundra on a road yet.

love it $160,000 more than my B-59. :P

I got back Wed. from my spring break in Hawaii..saw some interesting cars there...a goregous red '68 de Ville convertible oozing down the street outside my hotel. A pale yellow '67 Camaro SS in good condition. A black Bentley Flying Spur. A silver R32 Skyline GT-R.

I rode in a couple of oddball taxis--a '95 or so Lexus LS400 and a battered early '90s Mazda MPV. I saw oodles of Hertz Mustang convertibles and Crown Vics and Grand Marquis with sunroofs (I never see them with sunroofs here).
