Pontiac and GMC reups with NHRA

Recommended Posts

I do not have the details as I heard this anounced at the Summit Racing Nationals NHRA race today.

Pontiac and GMC have reupped with the NHRA as the offical car of the pro series.

I was wondering if Pontiac would remain or not but knew Chevy would still be involved with the teams.

I noted that many of the Funny cars are now Impalas since the loss of the Monte this year.

Also the GTO is still running strong. Will GM still stick to the GTO till they get a new Coupe out? Will the teams go to the Camaro as once rumored at NHRA sites? Can you Pro Stock race a G8?

As you can see evenwith GM showing they will stay in NHRA there are many questions left on what they plan to do. I am a little suprised with the coupe not here and Pontiac not changing to a G6 Prostock this year how soon we will see the RWD coupe. It is would be unusal for a out of production car to be supported by a MFG for more than a year or two at best.
