My Wedding

Recommended Posts

This past Saturday, Sept. 1st, 2007 Julie & I became husband and wife.

A couple months ago we planned a small ceremony in the Boston Public

Gardens right next to the Swan Boats. It was a gorgeous day, every

little detail came out perfect. XP715's grlfriend could not make it but

most of our close friends made it out. I drove the '59 Buick into Boston

& parked in the underground parking garage. It was a short ceremony,

maybe 1.5 hours long, afterwards we went to Vinnie-Testas, a famous

Italian restaurant close to the Prudential Center.

I was with my ex Marcia for 5.5 years and we never got past being

engaged. Julie & I have known each other for 7 years, we just decided

to take a leap of faith. I'm maddly in love with her, but we're also best

friends so I knew in my heart I wanted her to be my partner in life.

And just to clarify, although it was not the only reason we decided to

get married so soon, but we are expecting a baby in March of 2008.

That was a surprise I found out about shortly after I came back from

my roadtrip. Years ago Julie was told by her doctors she would have a

lot of trouble conceiving but I guess that was not a problem after all.

So there you go. In case you cared. :smilewide:

Congratulations Sly! I remember you posting about the emotional ups and downs you had with Marcia, I hope you have peace and harmony with Julie. I am truly happy for you! After all you've been through its so great to see you so content. I thought when you mentioned last week "big changes" and you'd let us in on it later, i thought, "wouldn't it be romantic if he got married?" well, it is! Congrats on the new baby too - Sophia will be THRILLED!

Thank You guys.

Staceface: seems you're the only one who picked up on the hint. :P

No invite? That's cruel, but congrats.

I've been meaning to call you.

It was a standing ceremony and the way Boston (and mASSachusetts)

has the whole parks division over-regulated we had to pay for permit to

do the ceremony there even though there is no amplified music allowed,

there is no food or drink allowed and it goes on and on...

(no rice, not even bubbles are allowed)

The point is we invited just a few of our very closest friends & family so

as to not get a hard time from some park ranger. Please do not take

offense, certainly we should get together sometime soon. You & Jessica

are most certainly considered good friends of ours, it's nothing personal.

Besides, maybe we can get together next time Julie & I are going out to

dinner in your neck of the woods.

Yup... I'm thrilled in every way.

Julie & I have a very interesting past, we met back in Fall of 2000 when

I was going to Suffolk University (New England School of Art & Design)

and ever since then I've been drawn to her like a magnet. The timing

was never better than this past spring when we both found ourselves

single & well here we are. It's true what they say: when you know you

just know that you want to be with that one person.

Arriving at the wedding just about 10 minutes early friends & relatives

were asking me: "you nervous?" and you know I really was not. I had

been nervous when I was flying down Rt.93 in my 48 year old Buick

cause I kept thinkning a blow-out or any other mechanical issue, traffic

or any delay would look as if I had second thoughts or panicked. I had

no reservations and of all the gambles I've taken in life I feel very good

about this one.

Julie is awsome, she makes me happy and so long as I do the same for

her we've got nothing but blue skies ahead. I'm also very thrilled that

Sofia will not be an only child. We've told her that she will have a baby

brother or sister and she's excited about it.

You know... just cause we're tall, doesn't mean we have to always be called "Tall Paul"! :AH-HA_wink:

God if someone sings the song, I'm going to cry.

Congratulations Sixty8!!! :congrats:

Also good to hear your Buick didn't leave you stranded anywhere. Good luck God bless.

Yup the B-59 behaved as well as a 48 year old daily driver

with a leaky water pump and NO exhaust can. Here she is

in the under ground parking garage below Boston Common.

It's a lot of fun manouvering a huge boat like the '59 Buick

around parts of Boston that are much better suited to a

VW Rabitt or Chevy Cobalt.

Julie is a good sport about my old cars, she often times

reminisces about the Sixty8 Camaro, not always fondly. :P

Thanks again guys... Sofia (it's with an f, Europen spelling :P ) is great, she's

growing up so fast. My ex would not let her come out to the wedding and as

of late has been driving me nuts. She's the one who wanted to have all those

separations for the past two years and what not & then later, more recently

she hooked up with her ex Nick after telling me for months that "nothing is

going on" but now she's somehow not happy with all her decisions and acting

like since she's not as happy as I am it's not fair, quite a lot of anger there.

Here's a recent picture of Sofia.

Good for you 68!

my brother got divorced from his 1st wife after 5 yeasr when it gradually came to light that she was abused by her family and had mental issues and only married my brother because he felt safe with him and never really loved him. My brother got full custodedy of their daughter since he was the only one that could provide a stable home and remarried in about the same ammount of time one of his best friends who evidently was already hopelessly in love with him but couldn't do anything when he was married.

Its been a year and a half and they are still as happy as the day yhey got married.

Good luck to you sir, and the new addition. (my brother and his new wife are expecting too!)

his and hers B-59s?

That would be AWSOME!

Julie is a big fan of BMW but likes plenty of domestics.

I think a Diesel Benz may be in our future, we'll see.
