Crossover sales are just replacing body on frame. SUVs on a whole are not a rapid growth market.

If The CTS selling half of the 3-series is a success because the 3-series is a 15 year leader, then what is Lexus? Cadillac lead the US in luxury sales for 55 years in a row, Lexus started making cars 88 years after Cadillac started, and Lexus is selling about 150% as many units. That sickens me. I don't want to see Cadillac introduce 8 models just for the sake of having volume, total brand sales I don't worry so much about, but I'd like to see 5 products that are world class and sell worldwide.

Lexus also stacks the deck with the absolutely mediocre, budget non-first-tier ES and rode the SUV wave as much as anyone. The 'core' models they love espousing about are stagnant and the GS is tanking like nuts.

So you're complaining that Cadillac is introducing a new model because you somehow know that it won't be world class?

The 9-4X better not be a spin-off of the new Hummer H4 or I will be quite disappointed and I may throw a temper tantrum if this happens.

that doesn't make any sense.

it would have to be the other way around. the 9-4x was approved before the H4 was. And that doesn't make sense either? A theta/epsilon h4? blasphemy!

if the H4 is a "wrangler" competitor, it'll be the real deal, no silly FWD.

Okay, so who will 9-4X/BRX rival? Will they be compacts like Acura RDX and BMW X3, or will they be mid-size like the Lincoln MKX, Lexus RX, and Acura MDX.

Cadillac never played in the 3-series market except for the laughable Cimmaron.

Cadillac never played in "entry sport lux" before because it didn't exist before being created by BMW and Audi. Taking the Cimmaron out of the picture, in 1980 Cadillac's smallest vehicle was the Eldorado. 1990, The smallest vehicle Cadillac made was again the Eldorado <not counting the overpriced Allante'>. In 2000 the smallest Cadillac was the Catera, a car geared more toward the C and E Class than the 3-series.

So yeah, Cadillac came from not having an entry in the market to having a car with 50% of the sales of the segment leader AND developing a good reputation at the same time.

Wouldn't it be amazing for BMW to come out in 2008 with a full sized luxury truck to compete with the Escalade but in only one bodystyle? Wouldn't BMW lovers be tap dancing if it had a sales rate 50% of all 3 body styles of Escalade?

The New Chevrolet Colorado gets a New Bison ZR2

The performance off-road mid-size pickup truck war has turned into a hot war in 2023.  Ford has recently released their 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, and Toyota introduced an all-new 2024 Tacoma with an incredibly capable Tacoma TRD Off Road. Back in 2018, Chevrolet teamed up with American Expedition Vehicles to the 2019 Chevy Colorado Bison ZR2 to the Colorado lineup.  About a year ago, the all-new 2023 Colorado was released, and while there was a ZR2, the Bison was not part of the announcement
