TAIPEI, Sep 19, 2007 (XFN-ASIA via COMTEX) -- GM | charts | news | PowerRating -- Shanghai General Motors has decided not to adopt the Buick Excelle sedan developed by Taiwan's Yulon Motor group, which is also a partner of General Motors Corp, the Economic Daily News reported, without citing sources.

With the Yulon model not selling well in Taiwan, Shanghai GM decided to develop a new design for the mainland by the end of the year, it said.

Yulon Motor Co Ltd (2201.TW) and General Motors formed a 51-49 joint venture, Yulon General Motors, in 2005.

The report said Yulon General Motors will have to shoulder over 1 bln twd in development costs for the Excelle, which has monthly Taiwan sales averaging around 50 units.
