Miller & Me

He spoke at USC last year. I listened, open-minded, and came to the conclusion that he is one of two things: 1) A generally uninformed "crusader" who talks to hear himself talk about things he really doesn't care about other than the publicity and "fame" he generates. A wannabe celebrity, who hopefully will never be one. 2) A very good manipulator who is adept at taking liberties with the truth in order to promote himself and his agenda, all the while convincing his listeners that he knows the truth and is just the only one to speak it. Neither of which are very flattering. So Michael Moore is either an idiot, or something of a cult leader in the making...

If there was a way to just "wipe" one person from their existance on this space-time-continium M. Moore would be in the top three. Hillary Clinton might beat him out though, that carpet-bagging bimbo. Nader would be in the top 10 BTW.

Michael more isn't a documentary director. He's an entertainer. He makes movies aimed to people who already share his same viewpoints. It's not like he's single-handedly making people change their minds. Does anyone remember Farenheit 9/11? It was supposed to turn the tide in the election and guess who still won? A lot of people saw that movie as propaganda. He's a harmless person who's exercising his freedom of opinion. Nothing wrong with that. He may be an obnoxious, fat, an disgusting individual but he certainly doesn't deserve to die or be silenced.

Have you seen Bowling for Clolimbine! he blamed K-Mart for it since the guns and ammo was bought there. Its not there fault its the parents or whatever fault for not watching there kids and stuff like that. then went to Detroit for that kid that shoot up the school there. Then was showing how mothers are caught up in work and stuff. WELCOME TO REALITY HERE IN DETROIT!! Its not a great town as it uesed to be, Fact 15%of Visters at NAIAS last year were escorted by a guard to there parking lot for fear of saftey. belive it or not. Also that crackheads and stuff have "crackbabies" and stuff. Then with now Delphi the Unemloyeement rate going up day by day.

I only saw part of Fº 911 when they showed clips on TV I won't support that fat Bastard.

Anyone can make a movie about there own opinion. Like I could a movie on how smoking weed is a good thing. Or take part of a quote like. for Ex.

America is in trouble, But here is the plan I have made.

then take the

America is in trouble
as what was the only thing said.

You don't even know him personally and you haven't even met him. Grow up, there's no way you could actually hate him. Do you dislike his views? Maybe. Do you dislike the way he promotes his views? Quite possibly. But I know that you do not, in fact, hate him.

Michael Moore is a true American hero. I hope his next movie is about George Bush hearing God's Voice. "God would tell me, ‘George, go and fight those terrorists in Afghanistan’, and I did, and then God would tell me, ‘George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq’, and I did." That would make a great movie!

His next film is all about the profiteering of the pharmecutical industry. I've known this for the last year or so. My wife works for a pharmecutical company and last summer they had a voice-mail or e-mail message from the PR director to not allow Michael Moore into the building, talk to him in person in the parking lot, nor answer questions over the phone. He was in the Princeton (NJ) area last summer/fall trying to make portions of his film.

Per capita it was determined statistically AFTER he Corvair was axed in 1969 that no more and no less people died in Corvair (again, per capita) than any other 1960s car. It WAS NOT unsafe. Not any more than the typical 1960-something car wiht drum brakes, bias ply tires and no crumple zones.

If it was not for the fact that a few Corvairs probably got spun out by morons without a clear concept of rear engine vehicle dynamics & weight distribution they probabl;y woud have been over all safer than the typical 1960s compact. At least they had the hint of a crush zone where the engine WASN'T.

Actually I read somewhere that the Corvair was supposed to die around 65 or 66 and that because GM wanted to prove Nadar wrong they made the car till 69. And GM made Nadar famous and got him more publicity by having people follow him and investigate him, something I think that they actually admitted.

evok I am sure you know the story better than I would you fill in my gaps, possibly in this or another thread.

It is a shame he is going to shoot his opinion on something that actually has merrit. Instead of a good investigation it will be a skewed editorial.

[rant]I firmly believe that drug manufactures shouldn't be allowed to run ads for prescription drugs. Wanna guess what is driving up healthcare costs in this country: prescription drugs. People walking into their doctor asking for a specific drug is VERY bad. It is the Doctor's responsibility to stay current on treatments for different conditions. If he doesn't know he sends you to a specialist. That is how it should be. I also think there should be a limit on the profit that insurance companies should be able to make. Wanna know why healthcare is costing more and you are getting less? Look up the stock on your insurance company over the last few years. It will make you angry.[/rant] Edited by 91z4me

Well the one good thoing about Moore's fame is that at least now people know who he is and what his tactics are and will be smarter than to agree to be in his films. A lot of people in his first movies agreed to interviews thinking he was a legitimate documentary filmaker interested in their industry, only to find that he only asked pointed political questions, then hacked up the responses to fit his views during the video editing.

lol, my Mom is running for Democratic (I could care less about politics) trustee in our town/village, and us and one of my sisters met Hillary last Monday! Non-candidates weren't allowed back at first, but then my Mom asked her if we could get our picture in there too, and so we did. I met her, stood next to her in the picture, and in a blink of an eye second and brief name introduction, that was that. I'll try to scan the picture in sometime.

Blackviper-if you hate your life but don't want to do a certain things, then do you think you will ever change anything?

My English professor from 1st semester at MCC (I'm 4th there now, so it was almost 2 years ago, thankfully that's long behind me) made us watch Bowling for Columbine. I can't say I remember much of it, but he strikes me in a way as manipulative. If more interested (which I'm not really, nor do I have the time), I'd have to check out more of his stuff-I haven't really heard many good things about him.

He HAS to be manipulative: look who he is opposing!

One of the shadiest and most manipulative forces of all time: the American media and government!

I, for one, am a fan. I don't agree with EVERYTHING he says, but I definately support him.

Anybody that points their finger at the man is in my camp Unfortuanatly some people just lack the independant thought to decifer bias out of equasions and see the big picture. But thats humanity, how else could professional wrestling, reality shows and NASCAR have gained such popularity. Phil Donahue knew all about this long before it was cool. I guess it was Roger and Me that I saw. It was dull, boring, one sided but it did prove to show the effects on Flint. It also showed that Roger was not willing or in my mind, man enough to stand his ground for what he was doing. So perhaps what he did was wrong and he knew it ? Perhaps he was a big money grabbing wimp ? Whatever he was a wimp, if he believed in what he was doing he should have had no problem being interviewed. Sniff test failure !

Please explain how he opposes the media. He seems to eat up any chance to say anything to an audience. He is part of the media. He loves media attention. So how does he oppose the media?
