Some of my laugh inducing, lousy drawings.

27 posts in this topic

I see few people posting their drawings here. Most of them are very old. Mine are nowhere near as good as them, but since drawing is what I do on my spare time sometimes when I am off work, here are some of them I could find. You can laugh all you want.

I had more, but I could not find them, but these may entertain you for now. Have fun laughing at them. I won't get improved anytime soon, but oh well.... I may need some lessons or two in order to get any better but....

they're really not that bad... just a bit out of proportion really... whatever that is underneath the sunfire is actually pretty cool looking

It was meant to be a GTO based on the 69 Judge, since the pic below I tried to put in the tail-light inside the bumber, but as you can see, it came out as looking something completely wrong and UGLY. Oh well. I am never good at these and I always have problems making it look right on proportions, so..... :/ Always comes out crooked in a way.

The proportions and perspective may be troubled, but you have some really cool ideas there. I wish the newer Pontiacs had the 90's wildness and texture you seem to have taken cues from instead of being completely smooth and slab-sided. Also the things above and below the Pinto (Prius coupe and Galant hatchback? O.o) Keep up the good work!

Actually, no, none of them were intended as Japanese, for I hate them. The one above Pinto is Un-named. I just could not find any good name for it, and the one below Pinto, is believe it or not, my version of Yugo. The ill-fated, small Yugoslavian car that no-one liked. But I was like, the heck with it, what if they are given another chance. so....

I just don't know how to improve, since it always comes out crooked and out of proportion, but oh well.... :(

that lacrosse actually is pretty good!

as you said... your main issue is perspective... if you want to fix it so you'll feel better about your drawings then id suggest tracing a few pictures of cars or concepts... whatever you want really... it'll give you a feel for where to put different things and how curves look and change depending on how you see them...

My recent ones. Hey, I am still trying. I don't think it will improve anytime soon but....

You can laugh all you want, I don't care. I put it in 2 posts since not all of them was allowed on one post.

Try picking a few of your favorite ones and refining them a bit more.

(Heh. Rageous. That was a cool concept.)

Well, I don't have favorites on any of my drawings, these are just the collections of all the spare-time drawing I did, so....They all have serious problems in proporsions and perspectives that I highly doubt I will get any better, but I am just posting them for fun. so.... I don't even care it gets no replies, for I know they suck.

Print this picture out & use it as a base perspective as it seems close to the angle you favor, for more & better perspective guides try Speed&Design.net

uh, yeah it's an Impala :

Thank You, MRDETROITMETAL. That helped a lot. I tried again and drawn the next crop of drawings. They are still not perfect, but I think they have been improved a wee bit. Still has a way to go but.... I didn't get a chance to clean them up so they are a mess, but I will post them anyway.

you are getting a bit better... try giving the grill more prominence... you seem to be shrinking them and keeping the cars narrow... you arent anywhere near as bad as you think you are... some mild refinement is all you really need... you can try using MrDMs base sketch as a start for perspective or you can try tracing pictures of actual cars... that may help as well...

you dont need to worry about anyone laughing at you really... if you are interested in improving your technique then most of us will be willing to help... of course if you dont necessarily want to improve and would rather just post sketches then thats fine too just make sure you say so so that we dont constantly post with tips for improvement that will fall on deaf ears

Not too bad, you have a lot of work there! You seem to be getting progressively better with each one, but the cars still seem a little too narrow in proportion. I had the hardest time learning correct proportion and one of the things that helped me most was to find a picture of an existing car with an angle I liked, lay it underneath a piece of paper and trace the basic outline (shape and wheels), and then draw my car. Also, try a new angle for each drawing, and after a while proportion starts to become more instinctive.

hmm... interesting ideas with all the Pontiacs there tho i can't say i like the idea of a mini-truck/van thing for Pontiac... as far as im concerned Pontiac should just stick with a bunch of sporty coupes and sedans, and if at all possible go all RWD but if not then at least majority RWD

and as a side note... you describe the CanAm as being sportier than a Corvette... im pretty sure thats just about impossible, as is being more powerful or faster than one while Pontiac is under GM... no GM product will ever be faster or more powerful than a Corvette... its just how the company works

anyway... as far as the squished front ends are concerned... you should seriously try tracing a couple of pictures of cars, it helps a lot more than you would think...

Pontiac isn't really competing with Chevy. Pontiac is (or at least should be in my humble and uninformed opinion) about mainly sporty cars that can also be used for everyday use, while Chevy is for low-end daily drivers and the SS models are sportier versions of those models. So SUVs and hybrid models are kinda out of place in the lineup, I think. Chevy for volume, Pontiac for serious performance.
