NINETY EIGHT REGENCY

Cadillac CTS sketches and design proposals

10 posts in this topic

Wow, the interior design we got is much better than the rejected one, which looks like an Infiniti. I can't believe some of those exteriors, they look exactly like the 1st gen! The exterior with the "fins" is pretty cool, but they're probably bad for rear visibility. I'm glad the real thing doesn't have a curvy windowline.

I like the mockup where the taillamps go up into the decklid. That is really cool.

I wouldn't be surprised seeing some of those LED headlamps in a mid cycle refresh.

I was thinking the same, or on the V-Series.

Overall they did well and the car we got is an excellent finished product. I love seeing the design process.

Generally, I like some of the proposed sketches better than the final product... but I can safely say those are far worse.

I think a lot of these ideas are better than what we have as a final product. That's not to say the new CTS isn't an excellent car, but my taste seems to be more for the dramatic and extreme styling elements. This is especially true with the A&S theme.

There are some cool elements in the rejected designs, but they must have been rejected for good reason (cost, ease of control, safety, etc). Every car has things toned down for the final product, but I'm glad to see the CTS cuts were kept to a minimum.
