I wasn't expecting it to look so good. I'm surprised. I'm just curious about the rear fog light/single reverse light set-up... *raises eyebrow*

If memory serves me correct, This is part of the Europe requirements. The rear single reverse light can also end up being the required rear fog light that Europe requires. Stupid and ugly in my opinion but a world vehicle like this would have to work both here and in Europe. Look at the Ugly Scion that has the single rear backup light on the left side bumper. In my travels for work in Europe I see that car everywhere and it acts as a rear fog light, notice me light that they require and get brighter when the vehicle is in actual reverse.

I could be wrong but that is my thoughts on the reason for it. Not a big detractor in my book. Better than having one of the rear tailights twice the brightness that BMW or Mercedes does that always makes me think they have some other light out because of the off balance of brightness.

+1

And on the back it could have the site or something.

I think you guys should do it! Seriously.

Definitely put the website name on the back. Good idea.

I'll also add that anyone who knows where Bob Lutz lives should wear it around his neighborhood!

Okay, and send him one too.

Walking around the Autoshow in Houston made me really wonder about Caddy and why they don't have a (competitive) large sedan. The DTS is so outdated its almost embarrassing really. The CTS is awesome, and the STS is still holding its own, but they need something like the CTS in terms of style but the size of a GS or LS Lexus.

They didn't adhere to logic when releasing the '05 STS. That car should have been longer (think Chinese SLS) and I think its sales performance would have been better just because of that.

Mr. dfelt, I think the rear foglamps in Europe are red, not white. White is for reverse lamps. A bright, red light is for the rear fogs. Just as an aside, the Olds Aurora had dual rear foglamps down in the bumper, one of the few American cars to feature them.

Ocnblu, as I stated I could be wrong, but weird part is I just got back from another wonderful trip to Hanover and saw a bunch of the cars with a rear white fog light. I know they used to be red, but it seems they have this oddly placed rear single white light and still also have the dual white backup lights.

In my opinion, this whole rear fog light thing is just a waste of money and time and over thinking by the socialist society of Europe. I have yet to see any real value in the light.

Back on topic, I do REALLY LOVE this XT Concept. :hot:

The single rear white light is probably a curb light for reversing (lights up the curb just behind the rear wheel), since you don't need one on both sides. My Opel Corsa (aka Holden Barina) has one, it comes in real handy. FYI so-called "fog" lights are actually illegal in some countries (whether this is rear red lamps or just the stupid extra ones at the front I don't know).

Red backlighting, a'la Pontiac, apparently will be in all future GMC's it seems (started with the Acadia):

and thusly Kitt was put down and this took his place.

it's alittle silly looking... but it's still cool

Yes, but only the second-gen Aurora.

I gotta say, I love the rear fogs. I turn mine on at night for extra visibility on the freeways since the old ones in Los Angeles don't have a lot of lighting on them. I don't want some crazy rear-ending me because they couldn't see me.

Hey insiders - inquiring minds want to know: what is GM planning to do with this vehicle, now that it's made it rounds at the Chicago show?

I hope GM brings this to the NYIAS next month. I really want to see it in person - I still like it very much, and recently bought a Chicago press kit on it from eBay
