What cars that havn't been made in years do you all the sudden see a lot of now.

When gas prices shot up vintage beetles came out of the woodwork.

Yeah... the Beetles around here have at least doubled

from last year, they are everywhere... incl. on craig's

for insane money. $1500 would have bought you a nice

'70s driver last year, for $4000 you could have a clean,

original convertible, now a rotted, beat & engineless

VW from the '70s is worth $3000?!?!

I saw a very nice, clean 1950s Beetle for sale recently

w/ a built-up Porsche motor, it was awesome & I was

drooling until I saw the $20,000 price, then I laughed!

Funny you posted this...

I, all of a sudden, have seen dozens of 1st-gen Infiniti I30s all over the place. I pass two or three of them a day now, and they are different colors from the day before so it's not the same group of two or three over and over.

Rather odd. They're all in excellent condition. It's like they were corralled somewhere for years and then sold in mass to local dealers through auction.

The sheep are panicking and paying above top dollar for any econoturd they can get their hands on. The ones I see most frequently are:

- Geo Metro (hatches and 4-doors and even the occasional convertible)

- Geo Storm

- Ford Festiva

- Hyundai Excel

- Toyota Tercel

- Toyota Paseo

In his defense this was a gorgeous Bug, it was the late '50s,

'57 to be exact, with the two piece window and fresh paint,

spic-n-span inside and out and very well customised in the

faux-1960s tradition, including a chromd-out Porsche engine.

I haven't seen a Geo Storm in a while...

This might not really count because they I really never really stopped seeing them. 82-96 Buick Century and Olds Cierra A bodies. Celebrities are starting to pop up, but not many 6000's

Seems like a the A bodies are gon round here, though I have seen two Celebrities (one custom) in the last few days...

About the only A bodies I see are the '90s Century and Ciera, since they were made 6 years longer than the others, there are probably a lot more still around. Haven't seen an early one (rectangular headlights) of any of them in many years.

A phantom that would have been interesting would have been a 6000 STE in 2dr form with the later rounded 2dr roofline.

Didn't the STE come only as a 4 dr?

I notice a lot of a-body cars around, a lot of Cieras around here. I do pay more attention though because I have one (85 Cutlass Ciera Holiday coupe) in the garage.

Holy cow that Chevette is clean...

If that was the manual (M22 beleive it or not!)

it would be the ultimate economy car Sixty8

style... I'd rock that bitch exactly as is, getting

what, prob. 28-30mpg! Well, I would have to

do ONE thing to it:

Rusty Jones sticker FTW!

EVERY one of my beaters gets one.

Sixty8, I found a car for you...1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible - 1 owner, white over red leather, CONTINENTAL kit, wire wheels and custom grille (factory he thinks) To top it off, owner claims it is a garage kept FUEL INJECTED 500 CI and she has only gone 33,000 miles. They are in their 80's and want $14,000 for her.

  • 2 weeks later...

I saw a '79-81 Chrysler Newport or '80-81 Plymouth Fury a few days ago from a distance...I don't know how long it had been since I had seen one...those R-bodies are cars that seemed to dissapear from the face of the earth (90% were demolished in '80s TV shows like TJ Hooker, probably..)
