I don't think so. I think it is an evolutionary design, which is appropriate in this case. The current car is still one of the best looking and fresh compact cars on the market even though the design has been available in the U.S. since late 2003. The car doesn't need a completely new or revolutionary design direction; it just needs a design with updated and refined details. It looks like Mazda is on the right path with the next gen car's design.
