Awesome, it will be a 3-day work week...with everyone most likely being "on demerol" the second half of the day on Wednesday, if not leaving early.

I'm heading up to the PNW. It'll be a brunch with my Mom on TG Day. I'm seriously thinking of going up to Canada (Vancouver) for the remaining 3 days, seeing that gas is under $2 a gallon.

What will you folks be doing? Be sure to be thankful for what you have, as some people aren't in good sorts these days and people in third world countries have next to nothing. Ok, off my soapbox....safe travels!

I will be on a plane from Colorado to Grayling, MI Wednesday night then depending on weather The wife is going to meet me there in the Vette Hopefully, if not then the LeSabre and we will drive to Manistee to meet up with the family. Hopefully, Its relaxing and fun.

Having 13 or 14 over here at the Ranch, have to build a quickie 2nd 8' table to get everyone in the same room.

I've already spend 3 days last week working outside, trying to spruce up the place, winterizing and tackling 25 billion leaves; looks like at least 1 more day Mon finishing the same.

Flying back to Nappy-Naptown Tuesday morning, returning to the City of Angels Sunday morning.

Thanksgiving is always a large production: turkey, at least two different kinds of stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans and bacon, corn, fruit salad, mixed green salad, sauteed collard greens with pearl onions and mushrooms, cranberry sauce, mulled apple cider, pumpkin pie, persimmon pudding, rolls, shrimp cocktail, chardonnay, cranberry chutney and cream cheese with crackers, and then whatever the extended family is bringing this year. All made from scratch.

Every year since I was a kid, I've gone to my Dad's for Thanksgiving, but this year, I guess my brother has to go to his wife's parents house, so Thursday dinner is off. Yesterday, I bought a Butterball turkey breast, and I'm going to make my own Thanksgiving dinner with parsley potatoes, greenbean casserole, stuffing (Stove Top doctored with a bit of chopped apple), gravy, sweet potatoes, and I'm making my own cranberry sauce from a recipe I saw in Cooking Light magazine. Then Sunday we're all going to my brother's for a belated Thanksgiving dinner.

3 day work week, then a quiet Thanksgiving w/ my sister. We are probably going to get dinner take out from AJs (local gourmet supermarket) to avoid doing much cooking. If the weather is nice, plan to sit outside by the pool for dinner. Couldn't convince Mom to fly out from Ohio. Probably watch some football or or a few concert DVDs (Rush has a new DVD out today, and I have the David Gilmour Live in Gdansk that I haven't watched yet). Should be a nice low-key 4 day weekend. Maybe go to the movies ('Australia' and 'Transporter 3' open this weekend, I think). Going to avoid 'Black Friday' shopping except online (going to try and do my xmas shopping this weekend).

Happy Turkey-Eating Day everyone! :)

We don't celebrate any Pilgrims arriving over here, although we should celebrate the 1st Neaderthals to arrive in the Iberian Peninsula hundreds of thousands of years ago, if and only if that gave me an extra day off from work!

We don't celebrate any Pilgrims arriving over here, although we should celebrate the 1st Neaderthals to arrive in the Iberian Peninsula hundreds of thousands of years ago, if and only if that gave me an extra day off from work!

Yeah, and the cool thing about turkey day here is it's always a Thursday, so 2 days off. Woo hoo! 4 day weekend.

What about all those tacky package-deal Germans and Brits who descend on the Algarve and have to have their beer and fish and chips, respectively? :lol:

What's the Portuguese word for "Happy Thanksgiving?"

In Spanish, they call our feast "Feliz Accion de Gracias"

In Italian, they call our feast "Buon Ringraziamento"

Everyone I know here in Vegas is leaving town......and I have to work on Friday and Saturday, so it's not practical to drive back to SoCal just for Thursday.....so I'll be at home.....alone.....with my two puppies.....

Actually will be a nice day off.....have the house to myself.....fix myself something special for dinner.....and just RELAX with no one bothering me!

Traveling from the nice Delaware beaches and weather to the Arctic that is Western PA to visit all the family in Punxsutawney, our OLD stomping ground. Staying with the grandparents, first day of usual visiting, then Thanksgiving with some cousins and such, more visiting other relatives, shopping, helping with some Christmas lights, seeing a few friends, etc. Back south on Sunday.

I'm just not looking forward to leaving my near 50 degree dry & sunny to hit the freezing, snowy (apparently everyday lately), sloppy mess that's there right now. Ugh. No more daily cleaned, shiny Malibu for a while.

The convoy of Malibu's heads out in the morning with me and Mr. White in the lead...unlike before, 4 people+3 dogs+stuff don't fit in a single Malibu like they did a Suburban. Even though, somehow, my father apparently thought could until a few hours ago...really. Just me, XM, heated suede seats, and a silky 3.6L for 6+ hours sounds mighty fine, except for the impending filth.

Making a nice big turkey dinner with the girl and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (glad to see all the floats are being pulled by Tahoe/Yukon hybrids; hopefully it'll be good publicity for GM at a time when it's certainly needed), then going down to visit my parents for dessert and football!

I'm pretty sure that shooting her car will lead to no sex for a very long time. Plus decreased trade-in.

OMG I hate that song...it's so retarded.

Anyway, for the past 5 years or so we've been going to my cousin's for Thanksgiving which was always fun (his wife's dad is an awesome cook).

This year they are going away for Thanksgiving, so we're doing it at home.

Well, my breast is all rubbed with I Can't Believe it's not Butter and it's in the oven with a dish of Miller High Life next to it. The homemade cranberry sauce is in the fridge, and the greenbean casserole and sweet potatoes are all ready to stick in the oven when it's time. I am going to mix up my doctored Stove Top and bake it in a foil-covered dish. It's all coming together nicely so far, I just wish somebody was here to share it wif. I am going to be so stuffed.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

I'll be leaving for dinner at my Mom's with my brother, sister-in-law and my nephews in about an hour and a half or so.

We have to eat early because the kids will be cranky by the original time of 5:00P.M. :rolleyes:

Ah well, I guess I should just deal with it.

Thanksgiving is always a tough one for my mom - her mother died on Thanksgiving after working on the meal all morning. She became ill and went to the hospital in the early afternoon, but she insisted that we all go home for dinner which we did. After dinner, we went back to see her, and I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life. She had simply willed herself not to die until all of the family had gathered around her, when we had all said our goodbyes - she just slipped away. To this day, it remains the most "mystical" thing I have ever witnessed.

Sad, but amazing all at once.

We'll be thinking of her today.

Everyone is talking about going shopping at 4 tomorrow morning, because my entire family is dumb. I'm looking forward to Saturday, I'm getting up in the very a.m. hours to drive to Kansas City with a friend of mine for the Border War, then we're driving very very fast to Oklahoma to meet his wife and my fiancee at a casino for what promises to be a great night of gambling, followed by either a pricey hotel stay of a very tired drive home.

A lot will depend on how those infernal women are feeling when the bodies of the far superior men wear down after 3.5 hours in the car, 5+ hours of football, another 3 hours in the car and a couple hours of gambling. They get it easy, they're just going straight to the casino, which is like an hour and a half from here. We'll probably end up staying, I'd prefer coming straight home because I have to get around to doing some work related stuff that I've been putting off.

Now that I think about it, the Prius makes a livable tent....
