Ford to eke out gain in 2006

Recommended Posts

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co.'s new cars and crossover sport utility vehicles will help it eke out a slight gain in U.S. market share next year, a top executive said on Thursday.

"I think '06 is an important year to start gaining back a little bit," Steve Lyons, Ford's North American sales and marketing chief, told Reuters in an interview.

"We will probably see some further declines in our fleet business and some of our older products that are going away," Lyons said. "But overall I am looking for a plus for Ford next year."

A product-based rebound in its U.S. market share is central to Ford's strategy to turn around its money-losing automotive operations.
