Toronado Revival

Recommended Posts

I should really check out this forum more often.

I found out about the Revival competition after it closed, but it got me thinking about trying an updated version of one of my favourite GM designs, the Olds Toronado:

great incorporation of design heritage, but it's a little bit too short in the body. Is it a 2 seater?

Yes, it's a 2 seater. Two ton land yachts just won't fly in today's world, and I didn't think I could get the proportions I wanted with the current 4 seat GM platforms, so I reimagined it as Olds' version of the XLR, perhaps with a hybrid drivetrain, in keeping with the original's heritage as a showcase for advanced design. FWD was pretty advanced stuff in 1966, but in today's world, it has about as much of a "gee-whiz" factor as saying your car is powered by internal combustion.

Hey rj... go ahead and submit it into that contest. I re-opened it for you, and hopefully your submission will jump start the competition!
