I've Always Been Curious...

13 posts in this topic

I've always wondered what a 4th gen Firebird would look like without a spoiler. I've have never came across one that was modified as such. I decided to do a quickie chop. It's not the angle I wanted, but it was the best candidate I found for chopping the spoiler off of it. As such, I'm not sure if I like it. What I'm envisioning is appealing, so perhaps its all in the angle...

Bonneville Coupe?

Its a decent chop, but thats the vibe I get from the rear-end.

I've always wanted to do this exact mod to a 4th gen Firebird!

Thanks for posting this!

Interesting..for some reason, it reminds me of a Sunfire coupe decklid, as odd as that sounds.

I'd actually do that to mine if someone made an aftermarket smooth decklid.

You can't just remove the spoiler off of the decklid; it's one whole piece.

I think it's hot. I've always wanted to see this, and it looks great. How about a Camaro done the same way?

I believe it would be an easier mod using the T/A decklid.

I would second that, blu. I was kind of thinking about the same thing myself awhile back.

I though the T/A decklid is two pieces...

Anyways, I finally found pictures of an actual spoilerless 4th gen.

This would make a good angle.

It is, that's why I said that a T/A would be an easier mod than a base car or Formula.

The above pic should have been the template for the 4th gen's sawn song.

Gorgeous!

Agreed... that Trans Am show car was awesome and it's unfortunate that is wasn't produced as a final edition. I'm glad I got to see it in person at the All-GM Nationals in Carlisle a few years back.
