buncefield-fuel-depot-explosion-by-flick The French are different. Just look at their cars, which have included single-spoke steering wheels, turn indicators that don't self-cancel (to keep the driver on his toes?), and pneumatic suspensions that let them sink to the ground with a sigh when parked. Now a few members of GCT, the French auto workers union, have come up with a new and ..

Lunacy!

What the hell is wrong with the French?

And, where is their law-enforcement?!!!

This is what results from collectivism: barbarity and lack of intellect.

Yes, there is something fundamentally wrong with all of "the French" and it has everything to do with unionization, socialism, communism, and all the other little -isms

They're not really thinking this one through too hard, are they?

Obviously, they're not thinking at all.

Mob rule.

Buzzards fighting over a corpse.

Primitive and base.

Yes actually, it does.

So are you condoning terrorism, and arson, and extortion these days, Croc?

Because that's what this is.

The activities of those people placing bombs and making threats are the acts of criminals.

Where the hell are the authorities in all of this?

This should serve as a reminder not to look to Europe for inspiration.

Where in the hell did I say anything that could even remotely be seen as condoning terrorism? You are truly in a world of your own, now.

This should serve as a reminder not to look to Europe for inspiration.

Yes, you're right. Absolutely right. Because one set of workers in a plant in France is crazy, we should be fearful and suspicious of anything the entire continent of Europe does.

That is absolutely insane. What should we do then? We can't possibly do anything the traditional "American" way, because we have something wrong with us--kitten killers in NY, cults in Texas, white supremecists in the armed forces, looters in NOLA, etc. etc., the list can go on and on with crazy stupid stuff people in this country do.

Have I made my point clear, now? You know, the one that doesn't condone terrorism, but does take strong exception to your xenophobic attitudes?

Based on years of reading your thoughts/comments...not a chance in hell. I do find it very telling that instead of addressing anything of substance, you take it to a personal level. That's weak, and very, very telling.

Do I really have to explain it to you?

You are seeing xenophobia where none exists.

I am critical of a society that allows such lawlessness and of the mentality of entitlement fostered by pervasive socialism that produced it.

That's all.

France isn't socialist. It's a democratic republic. In fact, with their multple political parties, they seem much more democratic than the US.

...and how is France "allowing" lawlessness any more/less than the United States does? I hope you won't try and argue that Americans and American society aren't entitled.

Don't see how they are any different than we are. But of course, there must be something wrong with "the French" because they are...not American? "Over there?" In case you didn't realize it, America isn't the only country with people who are mentally unstable.

Umm, no.

You have it all wrong.

France has a long history of being governed by the socialist party, and a great many of their laws and regulations make California look like Texas.

They also have a long history of violent union activities, this is not the first outrage like this in recent times.

No, France is very different.

It's not an instance of a few unstable people, this is an organized union extortion using explosives!

What I am speaking out against is the failure of the government to protect its own people and their property from such reprehensible and outrageous behaviour.

They seem to have lost either the will, or the ability, to do so.

I guess I should explain a bit further since I've started.

My comments about Europe in general are based on the spread of collectivism and socialism throughout that continent, it's fast becoming like a heroin addiction to the populace there with more and more ceding of personal rights and responsibilities to government, and sovreignty to the EU. Entitlement has become the norm.

Yes I see it here, you'd have to be blind not to, and that's why I said that we shouldn't look for inspiration there.

Oh, so your issue is with the French government! Well, that's a little less unacceptable than what you originally said, which was that there was something wrong with "the French."

But, I do not have anything all wrong. I checked my facts before posting. And with all due respect, I would never, ever regard anything you say about California as remotely factual based on many previous comments on this site--you simply haven't a clue. California and Texas are not even all that dissimilar, to be honest, and yes I have spent significant amounts of time in both places.

I will also say I find it interesting that while you rail against the nanny state, you are taking France to task for not "protecting its own people and their property from such reprehensible and outrageous behavior." I don't follow that.

A nanny state, and operating under the rule of law can hardly be equated.

I used California and Texas only because the two made my point clear, substitute any red and blue state you like.
