2010 Lexus HS 250h at the Georgian College Autoshow

Here are pictures and a video of the Lexus HS 250h at the Georgian College Autoshow in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. I think the $50,735 price tag is over the top for what looks like a mutated Corolla.

Ummm... why is the CVT listed as an option? What is the standard transmission then?

I think that's $50k Canadian, but yeah, seems expensive either way.

While sitting inside (in the back seat), I asked a gentleman (in his 50s) who was behind the wheel what he thought.

He replied: "for fifty grand, its a great deal!". I told him I thought it was a rip-off, and he furrowed his brow and got out.

50,735.00 CAD = 46,208.68 USD

:toiletpaper::scratchchin:

Hmmm...well, the ES and IS are in that range.

Lexus + Prius= a big hit, I think.

This is the Cimmaron of our time.

Toyota is the new OldGM.

I will say that the materials and build quality were very impressive, but the interior style is very plain. The dash is strange to say the least. Exterior styling, to me, looks like a giant Corolla. Its loaded with tech, but for the price, there are much nicer cars out there.

Oh, I don't doubt it'll sell like crazy and Toyota will boast, but my God, people, I have no words. I wonder how noisy it is being it's a 4-cyl car with a CVT. I mean, I think luxury, I think silky-smooth, silent V6 or V8.

What is that in the center console? A top-mounted scroll ball mouse?

Pretty much. I have used it and it is actually really well done and intuitive to use.

So who put Lexus badges on a Corolla and parked it next to that IS?

Well, it's pertier than an Acura, but that centre console and dash would make me feel like I'm behind the helm of a boat. Also, understandably the knobs are removed, but is that pencil next to the steering wheel seriously the placement of the gear selector? I must be wrong, clearly. I would hope I am anyway.

So if it's a hit, there's more incentive for Cadillac to build something Volty, i.e. the Converj in some form...

maybe its a 'docking pullout vibrator' for those ecoweenie granola baby boom leftie girls, ready right there in the center stack, in case the silent operation of the whirring electric motor and all the gas the pollutants they are saving tends to arouse them and they need immediate relief. like at a stoplight.

I think if they can sell that thing for 51K, then Cadillac could sell the Converj...it's much better looking, and electric rather than traditional hybrid
