MUNICH -- New Opel/Vauxhall CEO Nick Reilly likely will present his new management team next week, later than originally planned.

Reilly needs more time to merge leadership functions previously carried out at GM Europe's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, and at Opel's headquarters in Ruesselsheim, Germany, Reuters reported today.

GM is moving its European base to Ruesselsheim and eliminating double functions in the organization. Chevrolet Europe will continue to operate out of Zurich, with the brand's European boss Wayne Brannon reporting to Reilly.

Reilly, who is also GM Europe president, had said last Saturday that he would announce his new team in the middle of this week.

On Friday, an Opel spokesman told Automotive News Europe there will be no announcement this week, adding: “We would rather not speculate on the timing other than to say that it will be done in the near future.”

Reilly, 59, is leading Opel's restructuring after replacing former GM Europe President Carl-Peter Forster, who quit the carmaker last month.

On Thursday, Reilly said the turnaround plan for Opel will likely be completed only in January.

"Although we had hoped to have the new business model finalized in December, it appears that more work needs to be done and further consultations will not be rushed," Reilly wrote in a blog posting.

Opel plans to cut around 8,300 jobs from its workforce of 50,000 in a 3.3 billion euro ($4.85 billion) overhaul that seeks state aid from countries with Opel plants including Germany, Britain, Spain and Poland.
