1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham

I'm starting to narrow down my choices for a newer replacement for the 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham (FWB), so I am listing it here to see if there is any interest in it. Note that the selling price is what I've listed it for on another forum website, but I will consider your best offer. The FWB has been my daily driver since November 18 and while it does it job well for a 14 year old car, I have come to realize that I do like owning and driving something much newer. Anyway, onto the details:

1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Sedan

Sable Black/Black Padded Vinyl Top/Black Sierra Grain Leather (triple black!)

- Original MSRP: $41,000

- Current NJ State Inspection Sticker, valid until August 2011

- No sunroof, has the LT1 5.7L V8, towing package (VP4), FE2 suspension, Security Package, Brougham Leather Package, cd/cassette radio... see the attached RPO label picture for additional option codes

- 118,4xx miles (currently)

- New starter, NAPA Legend battery, fuel pump, 4 Kelly Navigator Gold WSW tires, right front tie rod (all Nov '09), new Pylon Wiper Blades, FRAM air filter, FRAM oil filter, and Mobil 1 Oil (all Dec '09), passenger side windows had the updated round rollers installed in November (thanks Derek!)

- Some minor issues exist, but the car has been serving as my daily driver since November 18 (purchased the car end of August; I'm the 3rd owner)

Located in southern New Jersey (Burlington County); there is a lein on this car that needs to be satisfied before the title will be released.

Asking $5,000 or best offer. Feel free to post in here, send me a PM, or e-mail me.

This is a terrific Fleetwood, and having checked it out before sale and then after to help with fixing a few small things, it remains one of the best remaining Fleetwood examples of this vintage. I've thought a lot about buying it myself from Roger because I miss my '95 so much! It's 14 years old so not perfect, but again, better than most remaining, at least equal to the 2 I've had, and it's the holy grail...a triple black Brougham with the rare V4P tow package (7k rating, ahem), upgraded suspension, cooling & rear axle. Only things more it could have would be a sunroof & chrome wheels.

Roger should be able to post anymore details as soon as he can, just ask if interested, like above. I can assist too, having driven, inspected, etc. to clarify anything with him, if needed.

It would be a good idea to list the problems as well.

I thought about that when making the post, but figured I'd wait until someone asked. Here's off the top of my head:

- Power Antenna needs to be replaced (worked intermittenly when I bought it in August, the last two months I've had to raise & lower by hand)

- Two small holes in the side of the driver's seat (I intended on repairing them in the spring)

- Exhaust leak in the right rear muffler

- Power Steering Hose leaks ps fluid (apparently where the hose connects to the steering column/pump) - have not gotten an official repair estimate yet

- TEMP light comes on after car gets to normal operating temperature (I've had this checked out; coolant temp is normal <scan tool reading> and a temp gage hooked up to the plastic coolant tank read normal too; I've been told that a new theromstat may resolve the idiot light or it could use a new sensor; was planning to get this done this month)

- Electronic gas gage (sending unit) does not ready effectively when it gets to the half way mark

- Trunk leak in heavy rain; unable to get someone to want to handle this issue yet (was in the process of trying to identify where the leak is coming from but held off with the last months' worth of snow storms

- Heated seat feature does not work; have not tried the memory seat feature, as I'm the only one that drives the car

- Accident on 12/22/09 while parked at my job; $3,000 dollar repaired job was completed in early January, covered by Geico Insurance (not mine). Many new parts installed, some work was repair & refinish, only noticable item is chrome lower fender trim not in production and not found used was banged out and some ripples are apparent.

All paperwork I have on repairs & bodywork go along to the new owner. Nothing major is wrong with the car, but it is not suiting my needs. I'd love to keep it and slowly work on bringing it back to showroom condition for car show duty, but finances don't allow that at this time nor in the near future. Hate to part with a car I've long wanted and finally found, but life goes on.

That's all that I can think of at this time. As I said, it's been my daily driver since mid-November and has not let me down since (the longest trip I've made with it was on a 50 mile one-way trip to central NJ <Woodbridge> for a meeting for work; it handled well cruising the NJ Turnpike and stop-and-go traffic on the way home, and I had three other adults in the car that truly enjoyed the trip).

In August before I made the transaction complete, I asked Derek (caddycruiser) if he would travel north to check the car out in person. I respected and valued his opinion, seeing as how he owned a '95 FWB and his father (and brother to an extent) own a '93 FWB, and in that time learned so much about these cars you can't believe it! In November he again travelled to NJ to assist me with some window repairs the car needed and checked the car over again for me (last time he went for a ride as a passenger, this time he got the opportunity to drive the car for himself). Derek is more than aware of this car and he is free to say whatever he wants about it to any posters here.

Can you take some pics of the "after" repair for the front end damage?

Here's a quick reminder of what areas were damaged on 12/22 when the front corner was hit as it was parked:

When I picked it up on 1/8 after the repairs, it was getting dark so most of the pictures I snapped came out too dark. Here are three that lightened up the best:

Didn't get around to taking too many pictures afterwards, but here a few "snow covered' shots in mid-February:

Oldsmoboi... if you want me to take some current pictures of the frontend, please let me know. I didn't want to leave you waiting another day. The work done was satisfactory; many new parts were purchased and installed, and much that was repaired was done correctly. The biggest issue is that the lower chrome fender trim was not in production and a suitable used part was not found (so the shop says). They fixed the original part, but it is a wavy as seen in those pictures (I don't think it's that bad in person).

Is anyone interested in my FWB? I have found its replacement, and I have to call my credit union tomorrow to see what they have to say about my loan request, so knowing what's going to happen to my FWB would be the icing on the cake :) I am taking the best offer I receive, the $5,000 asking price was to see if there were any takers at that price at various places (not just here). I am willing to sell it for less than that price for a member here :AH-HA:

How about your brother, is he still interested? Or how about your "collector" friend in Chicago; has he contacted you back yet? There is a small used car dealership that I know the owner/manager of, maybe I'll see if his wholesaler can offer a better buyout price. I am definitely motivated to sell quickly

Would lowering the price to $3,900 help anyone make the decision to buy the car??

Mayyyyyybbbbbbeeeeeeeeee...

Seriously, I'd like to buy it, but its bad timing for me. Wrong car at the wrong time. I basically have the Bonneville on borrowed time due to the tranny... and I thought I'd pick something up for a fallback, like a pickup... maybe something with a bit fuel efficient and cheap.

Unfortunately, picking up a Caddy, regardless of condition, is not being looked upon favorably in other's eyes... who want me to buy newer things, not older... even though I prefer older to newer... It would less fuel efficient than the Bonne and its not a pickup.

That said, I'm sure its worth the original asking price... but its hard to talk oneself into the buying the wrong shaped peg unless its a screaming deal. At the same time, I didn't want to insult you with a low offer... so I've been staying quiet. Of course, $3900... well, that ups my internal conflict and turmoil. ;-)

Well, think of it this way.... not only are you getting a great older Cadillac Fleetwood to own, you're also:

1. Helping a fellow New Jersian get a newer vehicle to haul his family in :truck:

2. Aiding the state economy by allowing me to buy a CPO used vehicle from a franchised dealership, in turn paying state sales tax & motor vehicle fees :2cents:

3. You now get to use these emoticons: :smilies-38096: :rwd:

4. I get to drive one of these again: :gmc:

Umm... what else can I think of?? :AH-HA:
